'Consistent' does not work when you're in a park and a stranger has a squeeky toy, and holds it up high, or some one reacts to your dog by holding their arms in the air, consistent is impossible when out and about, and the idea of keeping the dog on the lead all the time just in case you might meet one of these situations isn't a great prospect either. What I really need is help when the dog has decided to jump up at a stranger in the distance and you haven't been able to get to them in time. That would be genuine help and something no one seems to offer?

Well my dog is a year old pitbull he jumps on me & everybody else another he is so powerful that after a long day of work the last thing i wanna do is to be in his company & the worst part he does it all in the name of playing he doesn't know whats the right time to play but he is never agressive though.

Use a water bottle and spray it in the face. Have the laying around, hopefully the same color like red or something. It sort of helps.

@@timothycurnock9162 that is just cruel and is not giving the dog an alternative behavior to perform. He is just jumping up because he is excited to see you. Imagine if you were excited to see someone and they sprayed you in the face because they found you annoying. If you insist on doing this with a spray bottle, you should then at least also give him praise and greet him when he has stopped jumping so that he knows what to do.

Of all the dogs and different breeds this variety of bully is so stubborn, she jumps up on us coming in the door because she missed us, my 6 yr old got scratched so now the child thinks the dog doesn't love her anymore😐 and my girl has been so good with her, picks up behind her feeds, waters, plays and grooms her. I don't want to get a shock collar like some folks have mentioned, she doesn't understand and I don't want to hurt the dog since I've raised her from 5weeks due to the mom having complications.

I've been trying ot get my 4 year old shepherd to stop jumping for 3 months now ever since i adopted her, her previous owners never trained her beyond sit so she just wont listen and im at my wits end. its to the point where i have to banish her outside constantly because i cant handle a 110lb german shepherd launching off at me constantly. its not just when i come in but when all the time. i can be laying on the couch, trying to eat trying to open my mail. trying to sweep or swiffer and she simply NEVER settles down. no amount of positive or negative reinforcement seems to work and im not willing to smack her around like some video suggest. the only thing that seems to stop her is rolling up a news paper and hitting my own leg with it loudly and she tucks her tail and cowers in the corner for a bit. ive never beat her but i suspect her previous owners did and i feel so guilty for triggering that response in her but its the only way for me to get any peace in my household. im almost to the point of trying to find her a new home becasue nothign is working :( i had hoped that i could use these tactics but 3 months later no change and i jsut dont know what to do

Leash your dog if your dog rushes up to people and jumps on them. Teach recall.

Ecollars work wonderfully if taught how to use them properly. Effective tool, that doesn’t harm the dog. Again seek professional guidance, they get a bad rap because morons crank them up and buy cheap ones .

Maya Rego - General theories work for all dogs in general, but the commenter has a point. Some dogs are way over the top and it isn’t as easy as the video makes it out to be, especially with multiple dogs. I’d love to see an unedited video of her training a hyper and dominant 150lb Mastiff or working GSD.
