Got turned onto this method a few years ago, it really is the holy grail. I argue that if the place didn't get the initial char right, this sometimes can improve a slice over when it was fresh even. My only advice is, don't use too much water. You're balancing a steam phase with a dry/crisping phase.

I use garlic butter instead of ice cubes. Topped with some extra cheese. I even flip mine over with the cheese side down (non-stick pan of course). That part takes a little practice, and don’t try to flip it back too soon because the top cheese will ooze everywhere. Wait until it’s got a little crispy quality. You can also put a cup of water in the microwave when reheating items and the water will help make the food less dry and soggy as well. Try it with rice

This can sometimes get the bottom too crispy. Splash water on it, microwave for just a bit, like 10-15 seconds, then toss it in the skillet with the lid. Steam still melts the cheese but not too done on the bottom.

if you're pressed for time and dont much care for the crispy crust in the moment, the same effect can be achieved with 2 minutes in the microwave and a glass of water thrown in there with the slice at the same time.
edit: my microwave must be really low wattage if your guys' microwave is crisping up your food like that. i guess you only need a minute or so

If I put them in "my" microwave for 2 minutes they'd be Smokin' Pizza Jerky about one step from catching on fire...and the cheese would even be crispy...
Plus, You wouldn't be able to even touch them for the next 2 minutes....lol.

I grabbed a pizza on the way out of town in my camper. We later had coke pizza and the only way to heat it was the stovetop. We have been reheating pizza like that ever since. If you like it crispy, flip it over and toast the cheese a little also.

I keep my pizza in a zip bag to retain all of its moisture. When I go to microwave it, I put down a paper towel to make sure the bottom isn't soggy and only heat it for a minute for 2 slices. Not too soft, not too hard, as long as it's not that super thin crunchy crust.

Same effect if you splash water on top of the pizza and put it into the toaster oven. If you don't have a toaster oven. an air fryer works just as good. Crispy and the cheese doesn't dry out

  • @zstoops1

Best and quickest method ive ever found is 30 seconds in the microwave, followed by 1 min in the toaster over in high. Maybe 2 mins if it's got a lot of cheese. Air fryer is great, but most only fit 1 slice at best.

I wet a paper towel, lay it on top of the slices. Put the plate in the microwave and when the time is up, remove the damp paper towel immediately so it doesn’t stick to the cheese but then you have pizza that is as nice as when it was delivered (or when you made it at home). 🍕 delicious.

Saw another guy doing this years ago. He was showcasing the best reheat methods. This was before air fryers came out. I don't use ice though. I put them in the skillet on medium heat and cover with the lid. Take about 5 mins. I have sprinkled a few drops of water in the pan about halfway through. I think it helps the cheese melt. Every time the very bottom thin layer of crust is crunchy. Which I love. Makes it almost better than when I first ordered it. If you don't want crispy crust at all you may want to add ice cubes to help soften.

For MICROWAVE USERS and POOR people, like me... Try this method....
Wet paper towels, soggy with plain ole tap or bottled water, (water) to the point they are dripping wet..
Quickly, wrap the a slice or two (onf on top of the other) or one at a time. Place in microwave oven.
My small microwave oven is only a 900 watt unit, so your time may vary or need to be fine tuned in the time and oower.
The key is, not running FULL power range. I will do 3 minutes, at power level less then 5. I typically for one slice, 3 minutes, power level 3... The wet towel precents the crust from becoming rock hard. And yet, what water does steam off, melts the cheese and heats the pepperoni and some of the oil gets somed up into the paper towel.. if the edges of the pizza feel soggy as if you just dunked the slice in a bucket of water, it will go away in about 30 seconds as it leaches into the rest of the breading/crust, and some will continue to evaporate..
The thing is, low power, which the way a microwave oven works, the projector gun or magnetron gun, that converts voltage abd current into high frequency pulses, very fast. Thwt band width is bot what changes in the microwave when you adjust the power setting/level. Full power, equals, the radiation is coming out of the magnetron constantly for the entire ten minutes, you types into the clock. If you adjust the power level down to 5 or 50%, that means, the five minutes, spead out over the total ten minute allotment of time tou entered, and would act like this, full power projected for 10 seconds, then turns off the projection, even though, the microwave is still sounding like itnis running, the turn table inside is still turning, but no radiation is projecting out into the focal area or cook area, then, projector gun is turned back on for another ten seconds, and rinse and repeat.. it pulses full radiation , then pauses for moments. While the pause is happening, the last bit of radiation is leaching or transfering further, politely, or gently into the rest of the material being cooked or heated, and each time, the would be hot spots, edges, are allowed to cool down just a little bit, as the cooler inner area pulls that hit spot of heat away, heat saturation process..
So, if you set the power level to one (1), and thentimer clock at ten minutes of cook time, 9 minutes will be no projection, and of that ten minutes, only one minute of cook time, and that one minuteay he cut up into 10 segments through out the ten minutes if total clock time, or even 60 pulses that only last one second, chopped up into 60, of the while ten minute cycle.. thwt is why defrost button takes so long. Often times taking 30 to 40 minutes to thaw out a 5 lbs frozen chicken in the microwave, as the auto defrost button and fine adjustment for newer models, never cook the chicken/meat, but yet, still thaw it out.. it never gets hot enough to cook, but just enough heat to allow slowly the collected hrat to keep saturating inwards tonthe cold center.. I hope that helps pardon the spelling.. i hate the auto correct, as it refuses to stay turned off, and keeps placing words that look like i cant spell
    good to go.. enjoy.
