None of them felt like the characters they were suppose to be portraying, it felt more like actors cosplaying as characters in the game.
Yup love the all the actors just not for the roles

Yes the Psycho is a playable character in BORDERLANDS 2. He's DLC, but he's hilarious and i love him. His name is Kreig and he likes bicycles made of meat

Kreig is one of the best characters in the Borderlands games. He's a DLC vault hunter for Borderlands 2, and shows up in echo recordings and one of the DLCs for Borderlands 3. One of his game trailers is narrated by Hammerlock, and the other (A Meat Bicycle For Two) is the story of how he meets and falls in love with Maya. Weird that you say you've played a lot of Borderlands 2 and didn't know about him.

I believe this movie will fail miserably.
I feel as though the target audience is those who only played Borderlands 3. Seeing a side character being made into a main character, was enough to know that they shat all over the source material. The casting choice for Tiny Tina was some DEI checkbox choice, who can't act, and appears to have no lines. It was nice of you to say you believe it will fail, you know it will, modern Hollywood is pretty consistent with releasing flop after flop.

As a huge borderlands nerd. I've owned all the games, finished them all atleast twice and more. The casting is shocking. As Jaby said, "Cate is great, but why?". And Kevin Hart is just the same dude in every movie. Also Lilith is supposed to be shorter than Roland... Terry Crews would have been such an ideal fit for Roland imo.
Any big black guy would have been better as Roland.

@@chanahasnomana the issue is casting a comedian as Roland, He's one of the only majority serious characters in the game and you especially see that in BL2. Of course he has his little quips and little hehe moments, but he's not a funny character, he's leading a resistance against a villain whos set on destroying the people he's come to love. So casting Kevin Hart in this wouldnt make sense, and what @timhonigs6859 said stands true, I'm sure there is a plethora of actors who would have been better for this role (terry crews would definitely have been a better cast, but still would have missed the mark because we would have got more comedy out of the character than anyone is used to) that could have fit the role of Roland better than Kevin Hart, they just put him in there as a selling point to make a quick buck. It's a shame to see the movie industry shit on games by making poor adaptations and not sticking true to the source material. I dont think I have seen one GOOD thing said about this trailer said, unless the person reviewing the trailer does know ANYTHING about borderlands as a whole... this movie is gonna blow ass.
I would have rathered them roll the dice with completely unknown talent around the board... or an animated movie.

Tbh, I'd rather a series, like Wednesday, with medium unknown talent, and do it with 10 1 hour episodes.
Take it along, good battles, eridium, and maybe turning Sanctuary into a spaceship, and touring the galaxy. Lots of storylines....
One of the DLC characters for Borderlands 2 was a Psycho named Krieg which is who this character is as well.
The trailer not starting with Marcus saying "So, you want to hear a story, eh?" was a huge missed opportunity

Claptrap's voice actor got fired and re-cast before Borderlands 3
The music is "Do Ya" by Electric Light Orchestra, so they are trying to mimic James Gunn's GotG which used "Mr Blue Sky" by the same band for the opening of GotG Vol. 2
That's what I was thinking as well.
If I were marketing, I'd save "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" for the final trailer closer to the release.
They are not gonna use it, video game movies are not for the fans of the games
Ariana (Tiny Tina) is adorable, and her lines seem suitable, although she doesn't act as intense as the original.
The best cast is Krieg, and I'm not even biased that the actor is from my country, he just has the right body type.
Of course, he also doesn't have any speaking lines - in this trailer at least. So who knows.
The rest of the cast doesn't seem to make a lick of sense.
I'm willing to keep an open mind, but this looks pretty bad.
Although Pandora and its denizens look pretty good.

There was a pay dispute between the voice of claptrap and the people who made the game...so that's why he is not in the film...
Claptrap voice actor and former Gearbox vice president of licensing and business development David Eddings said last week that he was not returning to the role in Borderlands 3 because of a pay dispute: He "insisted on getting paid" for his work (his previous performances were on the house because he was a Gearbox executive) but he and the studio couldn't agree on terms.
I was gonna say this reminds me of twisted metal the series. it has similar vibes but this feels like a mix of twisted metal and guardians of the galaxy. with a taste of mad max

Kreig was a DLC Psycho character and kinda fun. Ariana Greenblatt is NOT pulling off Tiny Tina. Though none of the cast is working for me.
No rest for the wicked is the Borderlands 1 theme song. They should have used it for the movie

Even in the mini-comics they released they came as 4 vault hunters from different places(Roland, Brick, Lilith and Mordecai), don't know how did they meet Krieg before or Tina(eventho Roland knows Tina from before) but will see how it turns out, maybe i will give it a try
There is a crazy talented cast in this movie, unfortunately almost everyone I feel is mis-casted, the actor (that spoke in the trailer) that felt the closest to the source material was Jamie Lee Curtis as Tanis, when she took the gun, it felt like Tanis... I'm still gonna watch this but I'm not optimistic, this feels more like ppl in cosplay at a convention than a Hollywood film's trailer.
edit: Krieg was a playable expansion character for BL2, he barely got any lore in BL2, but he got some love in BL3 having an entire story expansion about him and how psychos were created
edit2: i think Brick is gonna be a surprise reveal and is the huge psycho guy with the fill helmet in front of the crowd of psychos and atlas soldiers
If Eli Roth ever decides to give Tiny Tina her own solo film (probably based on Tiny Tina’s Wonderland), I hope Ariana Greenblatt decides to come back as the demolition expert (if she & Eli are both interested & decide to write the script & produce the spin-off).
This time, give the spin-off a R-rated and probably a 2hrs run-time if needed. If they’re interested.

The team is kind of built up as a family kind of. Kevin hart as a dad ,cate as a mom, Krieg as an older brother Tina as sis and claptrap as a pet. Oh and also jame lee as a grandma
If you ask me we already have borderlands movies. Called mad max. More real to borderlands than this ever will be. When it was released i thought wow, a new mad max. This movie could of been amazing. The material is created by no one who loves borderlands, just like witcher. Even while having source material to use.
As someone that has no idea what the games contain this looks like a fun time at the theatre.

You describe this trailer with the Suicide Squad trailers made by that trailer company and James Gunn touch comparison the way I felt! But I love the actors so I'll give it a shot and hope for a positive surprise like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves which I really enjoyed.

Everyone is missing the point of this movie - it's to get people who have never played Borderlands interested in playing the games. If you look at it from that angle, it works perfectly. Famous, funny people in a movie that will have action, comedy and introduces the world. Then someone will say, "isn't there a game of this we could try?" and they'll make loads of new players and money!
Agree it should have been a tv series. Side note; they introduced Krieg the Psycho as a playable character and he has an incredible split personality. Why hes not been given a moment to be hilarious in this i don't know. Also why is a Tannis 65?

The main thing that gives me hope about this movie is that Tim Miller was brought in to do reshoots and I'm really hoping it's enough to save this movie.
Both Avi Arad (are they trying to scare people away with those credentials?) and Eli Roth I cannot think of a good project they worked on.
The casting I'm a bit iffy about. Kevin Hart is just going to be Kevin Hart. Lets not even kid ourselves on that one. I agree why didn't they just use the Claptrap actor to voice Claptrap again, but I can see he's trying and can grow into it. The rest of the casting I can also see growing into. I think the Tina actor was the most accurate on from the bunch at the moment. Of course it might feel different once we see the whole movie.
As much as people give Star Wars flack, they generally have good casting. The last Star Wars project, Ahsoka, had amazing casting for example. Nice they even brought in the Thrawn voice actor (I'll ignore the trolls) to play the character.
EDIT: I also find it amusing Jamie Lee Curtis is using her Oscar win to land these type of roles. I know she's also trying to campaign for the One Piece TV show too. It's like Helen Mirren winning that Oscar so she can get into action roles, and now Jamie is trying to use her Oscar win to land video game and anime roles. Never knew she was a fan of them. Guess her family gotten her into them.
It looks just OK will not go to a theater to see it is a streaming only movie.
Based on the comments on the trailer page and here I am glad I never played these games. I have zero expectations. You probably should have had Achara or someone else that hasn't played the series to watch along with.

I’m still trying to be optimistic…but this wasn’t a great first showing. Like you I played 2 the most. Handsome Jack should’ve just been the baddy
I'm pretty sure Psycho was the Brick when Maya was the Lilith. I think that's in 3 but all I remember from that game is eerily appropriate Alicia Keys.

Wait didn't Krieg show up in borderlands 2 because he fell in love with the main cast siren in that game.
Borderlands isn't meant to be taken seriously (at all), and the trailer has very much the absurdity feel of the games IMO, and I played the crap out of the first 2 borderlands as well. Couldn't get into the 3rd one (couldn't put my finger on what was different, but it just didn't have the same feel at all... so despite putting hundreds of hours in the other games, I barely put 20 in before quitting 3). The cast for the characters surprised me as well, but from what I've seen in the trailer so far I'm not disappointed.
(The only thing I regret is they didn't make it a series, as the quirky missions in the game totally lend themselves to be episodic and would fit a short running series much better, plus give you time to flesh out the characters and the world (which is basically a character in itself).
People who've been playing Borderlands games won't like this. It's a movie for people who don't play video games. Like watching a movie after reading the book first, most don't like the movie. Same here if you've played any Borderlands games. It'll be nice if I'm wrong.

i did get the Guardians vibe moment it started including using that soundtrack. i've not played the game so i will likely go watch this which is what i think the movie is made for and sadly not for the game players it happens for many movies that revolve around a game.

The psycho is Krieg. They mixed one and two. The guy playing Krieg could have played Brick and Mordicai is also missing. Honestly if they were gomna mess up the casting with a bunch of old people, i would have preferred Edris Elba as Roland. They honestly just picked bits and pieces of all the borderlands and threw big names in there. It doesnt look "omg this is horrific" but it COULD have been done way better. Im still gonna enjoy it anyway.
Jaby sometimes you automatically go into things hating things if they aren’t exactly what you imagined. I get it but this looks kind of 4:01 fun 🤷♂️. Borderlands spawned the greatest song parody in the history, "Ain't no rest for the Triggered." Back me up on this, this looks like people saw the game, and tried to copy it, but still doesn't understand it.

That’s not just any psycho, that’s a playable DLC character named Krieg.
No psycho is on your side in any of the games.
After having played 10s of thousands of hours across the entire Borderline franchise, I actually like Cate Blanchett as Lilith. She is the least over-the-top and most grounded of the characters and Cate brings that sense of down-to-earthness needed. My biggest fear is with Tiny Tina, who is by far the greatest character in the series and is completely unhinged in every way. She is essentially an even more twisted (yet somehow still innocent) version of Harley Quinn. She was designed and intended to be completely over-the-top and extremely darkly comical while somehow still sweet, innocent and childish. I have nothing against Ariana Greenblatt, but every action she takes needs to be more...whimsical, outlandish and filled with glee. I could see her hopping along, humming to herself while explosions are going off all around her, sending body parts everywhere. That is the extreme we need to see for that character!
Krieg the phyco was introduced in borderlands 3 and he is one of my fav characters. I’m happy he is in it but it would have been nice to have the old group first. However these characters are fine as a group.

they changed clap trap from border 2 to 3, was kinda sad, but put krieg in the movie instead of el salvador or mordekay was kinda bizarre, a dlc character instead of the original cast...
Jack Black would be the only reason I go to see this movie cause he's the only one that gave off the Borderlands vibe to me
Big fan of borderlands and this looks great. People are too caught up in what others think. The story of borderlands was never taken seriously in the games and was more a vehicle for fun. This feels like that to me. Don't really get the criticism.
I don't like the idea that we need big name actors to pull in an audience. Those like myself who have played all the games several times and have gotten others into the games would have easily watched this and depending on how it was gotten others to watch it. I think it should have been an animated movie using the voice actors. Claptraps voice actor did change because of how Randy Pitchford treated the orginal voice actor. It doesn't make sense for Krieg to spend time with Lilith, Tina and Roland as he was solitary until he showed up in BL2 and disappeared after the events of BL2. Not sure who the main bad guy is and one of the lesser bad guys looks like he is from BL3.
Lets all be honest out of all yhe characters they cast for yhis movie krieg looks to be the nost video game accurate character in terms of body style looks exactly like him
