I don't like visually the lugs and the Sonor logo but the 5,75" depth, just like the old 505/555 D ferromanganese snares, is always interesting.

I sure love Yamaha RC Alu but Sonor style of both polished Alu and its badge are very sexy. Especially, when there aren’t many drummers who play Sonor in my country. Thank you for the video. Again, I do love this format.

I own a vintage sixties sonor beech set but dont have a matching snare and have used a no name birch 14 by 5 snare despite having a couple of maple snares they dont cut through well I found. I like the yamaha stage custom steel snares that sound almost as good as this kompressor steel for half the cost.
    Great video comparison.Happy New Year.!

I've bought both the Aluminum 14x6.5 and the brass 14x5.75. So far the brass is the standout of the two. It has a glorious crack and very pleasant overtones that create a wonderful harmonic palette when played with my Sonor S Classix kit. The aluminum doesn't quite have the punch I was hoping for but it's serviceable in a variety of situations. I find the build quality quite good on both drums.

I concur. I traded my aluminum for the brass.

Can't decide between brass and aluminium, 5'75" drums. On the other hand, I had a Yamaha 4x14 brass and I never used it, even though it was right in the ballpark

Excellent review! Now that I’ve listened to a few videos, I think the Aluminium 14x8 might become an iconic drum. The brass 13x7 also seems a standout. For me personally though I’ve pre ordered the Aluminium 14x5.75 and I don’t think I’ll regret it as I’m not a loud player.
I would be interested in your thoughts whether this sounds as good as the Yamaha recording custom aluminium.
Thanks again for a great video.

I think one argument for the Recording Aluminum is the light cast hoops. Whether a seamless shell is more important to you is also something you'll have to decide. Thanks for your feedback on the video!

Love my yam rc alum. I have the 5.5” one, I play Sonor kit but with that snare. Yet to try these.

Such a nice job on this demo. What would I choose? It would be the aluminum 5 3/4 inch model. I like the sound at all of your tunings, I think because of the 2mm thick shell. The brass and steel mostly sound just like all the competition, very nice but not really different. The aluminum still has a higher quality sound compared to competitors. I would be happy to play any of these, especially the 5 3/4 models. Thank you!

Interesting snare line! It´s a shame shells are seamed, but I guess you can´t get seamless ones for this price tag.
