Michael was a talented performer. But watching him and his brothers grow up you could tell they were groomed and marketed as the darlings for Motown. He always could look at anyone and mimic their movements .In 72 I saw him go on soul train and do the splits like James brown . Entertainers he admired he would incorporate their movements in his dance. Prince was on a different level. He could play multiple instruments and play them at a hall of fame level. Cant think of anyone else in the industry who could play guitar like Jimmy Hendrix and play bass like Larry Graham and play keyboards like Little Richard. Along with producing and conceiving groups at the drop of a hat, The Time, Vanity, Sheena Easton along with writing the material for them Not to mention producing his own movies and writing the material for those movies. His ability to constantly reinvent his sound throughout the decades is amazing. Very few people that can touch him as far as creativity production value and musical arrangement are concerned. He was the complete package. You will never hear of anyone having to write music for prince.

Michael Jackson was primarily a singer and dancer. There is no comparison. Prince was so good that he was practically better at playing almost every instrument than members of his backup band. There is TALENT in his (MJ) ability to be the CONDUIT of someone else’s work (meaning, not only can he compose HITS, he can interpret records he didn’t write, as his OWN)! How y’all turn a blind eye to this, is mind boggling 🤯?!
I would say that’s even more impressive, to make someone else’s work your own! Then when you add in his incredible talent as far as his own musical prowess with constructing the songs in his head and getting the instrumentalist to play it EXACTLY as he envisioned, that makes him just as GREAT as Prince’s ability to play them himself, for they are BOTH just a means to an end.
Y’all get caught up with the “process” while ignoring the END RESULT. Which is better, a chef that can make any dish or one that can make any dish taste good, even if not of his own creation?! The RESULTS speak for themselves.
Thriller wasn’t a “fluke”. Off the Wall, Bad, Dangerous, and History weren’t EITHER!
People the world 🌍 over know MJ, even in small remote villages with limited to no access to modern technology and babies born today in those same remote villages, in addition with the rest of the world’s populace, are imbedded with MJ’s body of work in their DNA🧬 .
Michael’s PHYSICAL BODY is an instrument and avatar to the physical manifestation of MUSIC 🎶 🎼 itself, a true “slave to the rhythm“! The fact that he is the greatest DANCER of all time, the greatest CHILD ACT/SINGER of all time, and the overall most SUCCESSFUL ARTIST of all time, in addition to his SHORT FILMS, are all part and parcel to his overall ARTISTRY!!!
In other words, what I just named is his ANSWER to Prince’s “instrumental prowess”!
Mike could be Prince, before Prince could EVER be Mike and that is a fact!
In the end, you can “like” Prince all you want and hold him higher in your opinion, for that’s all it will ever be.
No different than my own, team Mike. That is the 🔑, from a global scale, my opinion is the greater shared one and that stands for something…
It is the determining factor to whom’s OPINION, is “closest” to a FACT, while still remaining an opinion.
Both are GREAT and may they both R.I.P, but make no mistake, there will NEVER be another Michael Jackson. Ever.

MJs talent as a producer and composer gets no mention because of his exceptional singing and dancing. The baseline for Billie Jean? MJ.
