This medication has been a nightmare for me!!! The only precaution I was informed of was no grapefruit or grapefruit product, so I continued taking it for 2 weeks after severe muscle pain started. I discontinued taking it and returned to the Dr. Was prescribed steroid pack & muscle relaxers. That was 3 weeks ago and I still have pain and very low energy. I found this article in an ongoing search for guidance in dealing with the debilitating problems I’ve now had to endure for 5 miserable weeks.

Lipitor seems to aggravate the pain I have from sciatica. As an experiment I went off the medication for a few days and the intensity of the pain in my leg was reduced by 60-75%. When I went back on the medication the pain returned relatively quickly and after a few days it was back to its previous level. I am seeing my doctor today to discuss this.
I'd be interested in the video, also. Type 2, no history of cholesterol problems but I test right at 200. Do notice that my upper arm muscles throb continuously. I have alerted my doc. I take it every 3 days instead of daily. Thanks for your diligent reporting!
Hello, this drug elevated my underactive thyroid, I was having bad headache, I developed a upper respiratory infection and my glucose levels went up,. I was constipated. All of these side effects came from no where. After three months , my cholesterol went from 143 to 72. I also changed my diet . I never eat red meat, pork etc. I eat a lot of salmon and fish.very seldom , do I eat fried food . I am now afraid to continue.using this drug.

Thank you for your clear explanation of the use for atorvastatin and, it’s side effects. As an older (74 years old) patient, I wonder WHEN /IF I might be able to discontinue the use of this statin. I am also curious as to the possible negative interaction between this drug and other drugs (aspirin, finasteride and tamsulosen) or, vitamin supplements. Thanks, again.
I am taking atorvastatin for cholestérol but it causes me pain my legs ,can you suggest me anything else please .
I feel heat running through my body every time I take this drug, and can't sleep. No more of this drug , it scare me I am a diabetic and is given 40 mg ,in my 60's. I pray for the night to pass.
Does it make urinary incontinence worse? Before taking this drug in January , I could go shopping more than half a day and not have to go to the bathroom. All I have to do now is drink a sip of water and can't hold it and don't make it to the bathroom soon enough.
I died instantly on my first dose of this medicine. After it left my system, I became alive again. 5/5 would take it again.
I have never had any heart issues before but my family has. My doctor sent me for a calcium CT scan. The test came back with a 269 score. The Dr immediately prescribed 40mg of this medication. I do not have diabetis, high cholesterol, and don't smoke. Does this seem like a medication that could benefit me? Honestly I don't like to take any meds unless absolutely needed.
Ok we know it is dad to take so you did not say what the people can take with little side effect. everybody say it is not good so whats other medicine or supplement can do the same Job ....

Please discuss with your doctor. Atorvastatin is documented to cause muscular aches and pains especially if combined with Diltiazem. I discuss some of the those effects in this video - czcams.com/video/UH4HmhBSq9Q/video.html .I think you should let your doctor know though. All the best.
