But I'm glad that I used one of your old tutorials back in 2010/2011 to modify my 11th Doctor sonic to remove the spring adding a flicking motion, and adding a secondary button below the standard button to activate it when extended. I got it first time round thanks to you, and even went to further modify it by adding real copper strips and pieces of leather to the grip. Seen as I couldn't afford a prop replica (that I'd always wanted), this is as close as I was going to get at the time with my resources. Thank you! And yet another great review!

I bought one on amazon and it came badly damaged and after an hour it wouldn't start it took an extensive amount of time to get it to work and it had a dated sound board it had the 10th doctors standard pitch, higher pitch standard, high pitch, very high pitch i paid around 25 euro plus shipping It doesn't work anymore (ps when I say dated I mean it doesn't have the secret sound)
i wanted to buy one of these which was listed on ebay for £35 and to my surprise i was greeted with a fake version of it, the gold colouring was a brown colour, had 4 sound effects constantly cycling, not having any of the 2 hidden sound effects, this let me down so much that i refuse to try and find another... its a real shame thats the version im trying so hard to find but to no avail, cant believe these fakes even exist i had no idea!
I have the 11th doctors character options screwdriver and the "fake" one. But I've kind of come to like the "fake" one more, the four cycle of sounds have been used in character options screwdrivers before, so thats not really an issue for me, and the brown colour doesnt actually bother me that much either, since the colour on the character options toy still is not accurate to the prop, and the brown still looks like copper, just a darker shade. When you compare the two side by side you can sort of see that the "fake" version looks more powerful and durable, and the character options version feels like cheaper plastic. The fact that the sonic isnt from character options doesnt bother me either, as character options isnt exactly classed as an "official" site. Plus, the "fake" one still has the whole point to the single button screwdriver, which is that you can activate it while sprung up. This might just sound like a lot of rambling, but overall I would say I prefer the "fake" version to character options. The only thing that actually bothers me about the "fake" one is that the claws arent fully closed in. However you can see that sometimes in the show the claws are like that therefore it isnt the biggest bother. I noticed that the column leading up to the emitter on the character options one looked like the rubbertoe replica, and the "fake" one looked like the celestial toymakers replica. And the celestial toymaker is more accurate to the prop than rubbertoe. Its actually quite remarkable that a fake version of a toy is of higher quality, although I dont think its good that they advertised the "fake" one as the character options one.

@The Flying Dolphin Lol, good joke! However if you were to actually do that, it would damage the screwdriver. You'd have to open the bottom of the screwdriver and remove the spring.

um should i get this which is like 20nzd more expensive than the touch control or just get the touch one. but personally i prefer a real button but then i'd have to save up
Jordan Benitez He used it once during the first day of filming for The Time Of Angels, after that the prop was redesigned to include the microswitch on the handle and allowing it to flick open, making the red button obsolete.
Jordan Benitez True but from a practical sense it doesn't work as kids want to use it how the Doctor does in the show, the red button on the toy was cumbersome and unnecessary. The toy should have been designed like the later releases, with the button able to activate it when flicked up as well, while the red button does something else cool.

uggg springs seriously just make the thing flick open underground toys, my original 11th sonic broke because of the spring pushing it to hard so the numbs that keep it locked down got sanded away, so just remove it and everyone will be happy
Disappointed with this version. I accidentally bought this one thinking it was the touch button and it was not. The fact it's one button is nice and that's about it. For my version anyway, the plastic feels cheaper than the 11th Doctor's version, the spring loaded mechanism feels cheap as it can accidentally pop open and also the paint feels cheap as I unboxed mine and saw some paint was already rubbing off. Also disappointed because it doesn't have the scanning or malfunction sounds. It has the same sounds as the 10th Doctor's, and that feels like a downgrade. TL;DR - Avoid this version. Either buy the 11th Doctor's version or the touch button 12th Doctor's version.

See what I mean? But I agree with your point all countries should have it at the equivalent of about 15-20 pounds in all countries

I like the idea of the Underground toys selling this sonic because Americans have had to buy sonic screwdrivers through the nose for years now

Yeah, they designed the toy off of the prop which has a red button, you can't blame them for accurately designing the toy to be like the prop.
