Eternal is a British R&B band formed in 1992. The original members included sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett, along with Kéllé Bryan and Louise Nurding, later known as Louise Redknapp. They were brought together by a record label and gained worldwide fame, selling around 10 million records. Nurding left to focus on her solo career, and Bryan's departure in 1998 was unexplained. Afterward, only the Bennett sisters remained, leading to the group's breakup in 2000. They briefly reunited in 2013 with Bryan returning, but disbanded again in 2014. Some people compared them to the American girl group En Vogue.

This song has definitely held up well. I appreciate it more now than i did when it originally came out in '94. It has a "feel good" vibe to it, and that's what the early 90's epitomizes for me. This is a classic.

OMGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! I have been looking for this song/ video FOREVER!! I haven't heard this song sing I was in like 7th or 8th grade. I been looking for it on CZcams since Creation & nothin' would ever come up. I never knew the name of the group, so I would just type in "Stay with me Tonight," but I would get nothin'. I literally stumbled upon this by accident. It was in one of those lil' blocks that pops up on the screen after the current video is finished playin' & I was about to click on another video when somethin' about the girl's face on the lil' screenshot caught my attention, then I noticed the name of the song, so I clicked on it, & here it is!!! This song brings back so many good memories from a time when things were a lot more simple in my life. I was 18 years old, summer time, working in a little clothing store in the mall and this song was on a mix cd we listened to in the store. I'd spend my little paycheck on cute clothes every week, hanging out with friends, having fun. Good times.

Why do people always say stupid things like "rubbish when Louise left"? She made little difference to the group, except the video images, etc. Easther did practically all the vocals on every Eternal song. Louise sang ONE line on Crazy! Give Easther the credit. She truly deserves it!

I heard that in Europe these girls were huge but in the states they only had this one song. I don't really know why this was their only hit over here but this lead singer was phenomenal. Even now all these years later, it's hard to find someone who can just have such a big, pretty pop voice. she can hold these big notes like damn

American record producers only promote their own acts, there is lots of great music from Europe which Americans have never heard - like Billy Ocean and Hot Choclate.
They were huge here in Australia, and Stay was phenomenal here!

I don't know why this song didn't do better in the U.S.; it's awesome! I happened to catch it on VH1 back when I was in 5th grade and they actually played VIDEOS, including international ones. I'm glad I was around to hear it, it's one of my favorites.
Because the original version by Glenn Jones was 3 years earlier and it was really popular in the states.
This was the debut single by the group Eternal and apparently their only hit song on the U.S. pop music charts exactly 20 years ago in March 1994. Apparently, according to Wikipedia, they were an English R&B girl group! Unique! :-) Their song "Stay" quickly rose up the Top 40 and became their first and only Top 10 song. There were a number of "guilty pleasure" songs for me in 1994 but this definitely has to be the one that I liked the most! :-) Although their look was too ghetto for me, their sound was wonderful though and looking back, I definitely regret not having embraced the song back then. As they years passed though, I really grew to love this song more and more and now I just adore it! :-) When I downloaded my very first group of 1994 songs, this was near the top of my list! :-) Clearly for me, this was one of my favorite songs of 1994 and I still stand by that 20 years later! :-) It's a shame they did not have any other hit songs on the U.S. pop charts, but this song alone definitely surpasses the test of time for me and is one of my favorite and unforgettable songs of 1994! I am from UK and was a teenager when they came out and obviously being a young boy thought they were hot. Listening back now, the first album they did titled Always and Forever is still magnificent. So many great pop tunes and i believe 6 singles. Their output after that was still very good culminating in the wonderful I wanna be the only one. Saw them live twice and they were super. Hopefully all 4 get back together. That would be wonderful.

I adore this song as it highlighted the street/ urban soul trend in the 90ies. The UK had so many great act that were equally successful in the US. Eternal were the British answer to SWV. It is a pity that we have to listen to Girls Aloud and Sugarbabes today, instead of SWV and Eternal....sad test of time! Leona Lewis is a rare gem in the bland UK soul market.
