I think because you’re using a watercolor brushpen you’re putting a little much water to colors. And it might be wrong. Because as far as I know gouache paints need to be applied as opaque as possible. So, maybe you’re not seeing the full potential of colors. Try it with a little less water👍🏻 Looks like a nice set.

Thank you very much for your advice 🙏 I tried the set both with normal brush and brushpen, but if I have to compare this set with other gouache that I own, like for example Holbein gouache, using the same technique and water quantity, I think that the Caran D'Ache set is less opaque. It is a very good product, and I love it in some circumstances, but if I am looking for a fully opaque result, I choose other sets 👍

Looks really nice . I would be a little disturbed about the choice of grey would be a wast of space to me.

Yes, I agree. It is unusual to find this color in a starter set, and I would prefer another color if I could choose.

@@deboragrosaart Grey is a great color, that is saddly very depreciated, but you have many wonderful grey :) it's less colorful than others colors, but when you know how and when to use it, it''s wonderful. You could mix brown and grey and get a taupe color, you could mix a pink and grey and have light pink grey color....grey is maybe a color that need to be seen more, and it's sad that finally people condamned it quickly, without giving it a chance. i love all colors, because they each hold something great in them, and it's sad when i see people just saying "i don't like this color", instead to try to exploit it potential, and also because one color don't exist in only one color, but in many others versions. So for example, when someone say "i don't like green", this person even don't realize that there's not only one green, but many others (almond green, grass green, viridian, emerald....) and same with the grey, you could have pearl grey, cold grey, warm grey, and many others.... I will maybe buy this gouache set and use the grey with real pleasure. If you see grey from a different angle or vision, you would appreciate it, instead to see it as a parasite^^ in the set :)

@starlucanyaart I agree about your general vision of colors 🙂 I like greys, and they are fundamental for me that I paint a lot of landscapes...although speaking of this particular set, this particular grey and its performance I would prefer another color because I usually don't use it a lot when I paint with this palette and I generally prefer to mix the other colors to get my own cool or warm greys. This is just a personal opinion based on the personal experience with the product and not a universal rule for me 🙂

review gouache with a brush not a waterbrush. Also prep the paint in the right way. You spray the paint before use so it gets soft and useable. Waterbrushes add to much water.

I used the palette for months with both normal brushes and water brushes, of course. This review is based on my experience with the product compared to other products that i own and that I use. I don't do first impressions review in general. In every review, I share my personal opinion that can be completely different from others, and that's ok because art is amazing also for that reason. Although I like the product among student grade quality palettes.
