The bass is Geoff Castellucci. He has a 5 octave range. He also has a solo channel which is amazing. The toy maker is his wife Kathy. The beat boxer is Layne Stein and he did the arrangement. He is a world class vocal percussionist. The bald guy is Eli Jacobson and he is an amazing rock tenor. The guy with the great hair is the newest member, Cesar DeLaRosa, who sings baritone and tenor and has a beautiful emotional tone to his voice. Everything Voiceplay does is great and Nothing Else Matters is spectacular!

Geoff (bass) and Layne (beatbox) have been singing together since middle school and professionally acapella since 1997. The name changed to Voiceplay about 10 - 12 years ago. Eli Jacobson (pronounced to rhyme with jelly), bald tenor joined them about that time. Their high tenor, also with them from the beginning, Earl, left in early 2020 for undisclosed personal reasons and has not been replaced. They've had a few baritones since the name change. Tony Wakim left in 2016, J None was in from 2018 to 2021 when the US Navy recruited him to sing with them. He is 2 years into a 5 year hitch. Cesar de la Rosa, with all the hair, took his spot as baritone. None of them stay in their lane vocally, each of them have an amazing range, including the beatboxer.
They have no label, no manager, they are completely independent. Their arrangements are usually done by either Geoff or Layne trading off each month. Whoever does the arrangement usually does the production, editing, camera, set, costume and makeup design. They bring in camera crews and makeup artists when needed.
Nothing Else Matters will be great for your next reaction, then for a complete change of genre go with I Can't Make You Love Me.
We will talk about Geoff's solo channel next time.
Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay!

My favorite group is #TheatreKidsOfACapella. The bass is Geoff Castellucci and his wife Kathy is the toymaker. Geoff has his own channel where he does LOW bass covers. On the Huldra Draco channel, you will find the history of VoicePlay and all the information on past and current members plus lots more. They do everything themselves. Arrangements, filming, editing, sets, costumes, lighting, and everything in between.

  • @DTA-Music

Geoff Castellucci (the bass) has a five-octave range and a whole channel full of his own incredible solo work. He also wrote the bridge for this version of this song, and the lovely lady who chose his head to complete her Perfect Man is his wife in real life, Kathy Castellucci. :) (She kindly assures us that she went on to complete the other four projects, and they all turned out perfect as well.) The gentlemen with the beautiful moustache and beard is Eli, the fellow with the impressive hair is Cesar, and the beatboxer is Layne, who also did this arrangement. And yes, their cover of Nothing Else Matters _is_ amazing, please check it out! Liked and subscribed, hoping for more!

Definitely read the video notes. It not only tells you what parts they sing but also who did the video, lighting, arranging, etc. The vocal percussionist is Layne. He arranges half of thier stuff in top of owning the production studio where they film most of their videos. Eli, rhymes with jelly, the bald rock tenor, does the lighting and occasionally some arranging. Cesar, with the gorgeous breathy voice and epic hair, it's the newest member. Last, but Definitely bit least is the bass singer Geoff, pronounced Jeff, who does the rest of the arranging along with having his own solo channel where he does low bass singer covers with light instrumentation. I recommend you check out his solo work along with all the VP recommendations mentioned below. He just released a phenomenal cover of Sound of Silence.

Thank you for an awesome reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video of Geoff Castallucci's solo cover, Sounds Of Silence. It really shows off his range. He is the low bass singer in Voice Play. He has hi own channel, all solo work. He clones himself 3 or 4 times and harmonizes with himself. Please keep these cover songs of Voice Play on your list. 1. Dream On, originally by Aerosmith. 2. Carry On Wayward Son, originally by Kansas 3. Nothing Else Matters, originally by Metallica. Voice Play always respects the original artist while putting their own twist to a song. Sometimes they have female featured artist as in their cover song, If I Were A Rich Man/Girl that is totally awesome. Please give us more Voice Play & Geoff Castallucci ❤️

Layne Stein, the beatboxer, arranged, directed and edited this video, as well as running the steadycam and stationary cameras. Geoff(Jeff) Castellucci - the base - alternates with Layne in the arrangement, directing and editing duties. This gives them complete creative control over their videos.

Quintet? I think that's the word you were stumbling around for! LOL. Great reaction! Voiceplay is currently a quartet actually, and they feature different singers who collaborate with them on different videos. Left to Right: Layne Stein (Beat boxer, vocal voodoo, amazing singing voice and talented arranger) Cesar De La Rosa (dark skinned fellow, baritone/tenor with the voice of an angel and all the energy...he brings them coffee!) Anthony is in the middle, first time he collaborated with them except for a small spot in "Just Sing". Eli Jacobsen (Pronounced "Elly" like jelly) Bald guy...freakin amazeballs rockstar tenor..nothing Eli can't do! And finally, Geoff Castellucci. (Human subwoofer...crazy bass with 5 octave range, does about half the arranging for the group..and also has his own solo channel.) The toymaker is Geoff's wife, Kathy. The video teaser you saw, for "Butter" includes Deejay Young....he has collaborated with them a few times and his voice is, in a word, insane. Enjoy your trip down the Voiceplay rabbit hole!

Anthony's name is pronounced Garjoola apparently. VoicePlay differ from PTXor Home Free by being a lot of fun and often theatrical but are every bit as briliant in their arrangements and singing skills. Geoff wrote some extra lyrics and melody for this song, to make it a little longer. You might want to check out the bass singer's low bass covers on his own channel - Geoff Castellucci. The toymaker is Geoff's wife, Kathy.

Great reaction video from you. Voiceplay actually alternates out their feature performer for each video that they do. So you may see a female operatic singer such as Rachel Potter in one video and then DJ Smooth in a more pop oriented video. They release one video per month and it's like Christmas every time they release something. Geoff Castellucci the (BASS) seems to become what mesmerizes most people as his 5 Octave range is far and away superior to the likes of Tim Foust or Avi Kaplan. I love those guys, but Geoff blows them away. By the way...the woman in the Toy Shoppe Video was Geoff's wife...Kathy !!! You should definitely check out Voiceplays Nothing Else Matters as well as their version of Aerosmith's Dream On. You will not be disappointed. Also Ooogie Boogie Song from Nightmare Before Xmas is by far one of their best songs. As far as Geoff goes...he has his own channel and he just released his version of The Sound Of Silence that will blow you away. He also has covered House Of The Rising Sun, Ain't No Sunshine, Ghostriders In The Sky and Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold. You MUST REACT to all of these !!! It will open a whole new world for you !!!

I know you'll have gotten the info from others, but I have to bubble over when it comes to VP. Definitely, _definitely_ recommend Nothing Else Matters -- it's a masterpiece. VoicePlay is currently down a permanent fifth member so they've been using featured vocalists for the past little while. You can usually tell who the featured artist is because they'll be standing in the middle. Regular members are Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci on the bass, Eli (Ell-E) Jacobson with the glorious beard and rock tenor, Cesar de la Rosa with the fluffy hair and beautiful breathy baritenor, and Layne Stein on the beatbox. Geoff and Layne were original members when they started back in 1997 but there have been several member changes since then. Please do dive a bit into this rabbit hole; it's well worth the journey!

    @Badger77722 Před rokem +1

You mentioned seeing Anthony G in some Tik Toks recently - he has made a couple with VoicePlay since he was in town to make the video - they're worth looking up!
VoicePlay has been around since 1997, although they started under the name 42Five (4 to 5). Based in Orlando, FL, most/all of the members have worked for the Disney and/or Universal theme parks in the area. They appeared on The Sing-Off TV show the same year that Home Free did - Home Free won, VoicePlay was eliminated before the finals. Geoff Castellucci (bass) and Layne Stein (beatboxer) are the only original members still with the group. VoicePlay is sometimes known as the Theater Kids of A Cappella, since a number of their videos include costumes, makeup, sets, lighting, etc. Geoff and Layne split the arranging/producing/directing chores, Eli does the lighting and some arranging. Layne is a partner in PattyCake Productions, a local production house with Tony Wakim, a former member of VoicePlay who decided he wanted to work on the other side of the camera. Most of VoicePlay's theatrical productions use PattyCake as the location/set for the videos. In Geoff's latest solo video, The Sound of Silence, Eli did the lighting and Layne worked the steadicam for Geoff. Kathy Castellucci, Geoff's wife, was the toymaker in this video, and is the production manager for both Geoff's and VoicePlay's videos.

I always enjoy first time reactions to VoicePlay -- no matter who, it's always been: "Wow!" (that was *my* first reaction, too -- I found their cover of "Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra back in early 2020, and haven't looked back). Here are my recommendations:
"Just Sing" -- Arranged by the beatboxer, as a massive collaboration during COVID quarantine, with their friends, family, and former members (be sure to turn on the captions, as they will tell you who everyone is)
"Boy Bands in Five Minutes" -- Arranged by their bass.
"Little Mermaid Medley" -- Arranged by their beatboxer (songs from the Disney movie)
"Man in the Mirror -- Arranged by their bass, as a send-off/farewell to member J. None, as he left to join the Navy (He's come back to sing with them when he's on leave, since then)
"I can't make you love me" -- Also arranged by their bass, has more beautiful singing from the man with the Afro (Cesar de la Rosa)
As others have already said, in the summer of 2020, their high tenor (and one of the group's founders) left for private reasons, and since then, they've brought in guest singers to be featured in the fifth spot, that rotate in and out with different songs. In their video thumbnails, the guest is always in the center (which is why you'll sometimes see faces you don't recognize).

When COVID hit and musicians couldn't tour, Voiceplay did a benefit video to help out their fellow musicians - "Just Sing". It featured a huge number of folks that had collaborated with them over the years. Watch it with the captions ON - the captions not only tell you who everyone is, but adds some humor. Anthony was in it with the comment "He hasn't worked with us yet, but we want him to".

Left to Right - Vocals/Beatboxer Layne Stein (pronounced like Lay with an n on the end), Baritone Cesar De La Rosa , Guest Star Anthony G., Tenor Eli Jacobson (pronounced like Jelly without the J), and then Bass Geoff Castellucci(Pronounced like Jeff).
The Lady shown in the video is Geoff's wife, the beautiful Kathy Castellucci. She serves as Production Manager for both Voiceplay and Geoff's solo-work.
The way I've understood it, Layne arranged this song, but Geoff wrote the middle part of this song, I'd presume to his wife (who then chose him as the perfect man in the video).
The 5th person in the picture you mentioned is J. None. he's on a break right now, and comes back when he is on leave from the Military. In his stead they often have a guest vocalist instead. Nothing Else Matter actually includes J.None. Most of their work prior to about a year ago included J'None on a consistent basis, he had joined them in 2019 I believe.

VoicePlay members have pretty much all worked in the theme parks in Orlando so theater comes more easily to them. The name of the toy shop is voice play in German, in the beginning there were blocks that spelled out their name and in the windowsill is a Pinocchio, all adding to the theme. They do sing sitting on stools or standing around as well, but probably about half of their videos have a storyline and often props, costumes and character voices upon occasion. One of my favorites is their cover of Tennessee Whiskey just because the harmonies are so absolutely beautiful.
You mentioned Cesar (beard and big hair). They did a cover of I Can’t Make You Love Me with a different guest artist (EJ Cardona of Voctave). Cesar suggested the song and he and EJ carry the lead most of the song.
This is not the lowest that Geoff goes. If you are a gamer (or even if you aren’t) you might want to check out their cover of the HALO theme song. In it he hits a B0 which is like the second key on the piano all the way on the deep end. Please watch all the way to the end. This was a tribute to a friend and it really will tell you something about the kind of people they are
Geoff has a solo channel as well and he started issuing videos of about 2 1/2 years ago when Covid stopped them from touring. They haven’t resumed because they are still one permanent member short. Even before that they often had featured artists, either because they were in the middle of a personal change or sometimes just because the song calls for it.
They just gave patrons a hint of what’s coming up for this months release and from what I’ve seen and heard it’s going to be pretty phenomenal.

Eli (Ellie) and Cesar (the two on each side of Anthony) also have 5 octave ranges. Layne, the beatboxer actually has a 6 octave range if you count sound effects. He hit A0 at the end of SH-Boom as an inhale note and C#6 as a sound effect in ACA Top 10 Disney Villains. Voiceplay at the moment is only 4 members so they collaborate with various artists for the 5th.
The picture of Voiceplay is from the video "Butter" right before Cesar joined. The guy in the middle is DeeJay Young and has collaborated with them many times.
Geoff and Layne formed Voiceplay in 1997 with 3 others. They left at different times for other ventures. So they have had many various members over the years. Depending on the video is who is in it with them. Eli has been with them since 2010.
Geoff Castellucci has his own channel where he does solo (sorta). He usually clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. He uses instruments in his videos except a couple. Yes. He has a very wide range.

Do Nothing Else Matters next please! You'll meet J None who was a full member of VoicePlay but was recruited into the US Navy. He comes back when on leave and does a full video (Last year was Friends On the Other Side, and this January was Nothing Else Matters) as well as some shorts or minis. I Can't Make You Love Me would let you hear Cesar (a baritenor) and if you check out We're Good you'll see/hear his tryout for full member. The bald guy is Eli (rhymes with jelly) and used to be in a rock band so he has the chops to handle a lot. He has a lot of range and is the high tenor, Cesar can match him on Dream On (they have Omar Cardona who helps with the high tenor - great voice). A couple years back, VP did a video called Just Sing (right after covid came out). Most of the people that have been members or who have sung with VoicePlay has phoned in their part. Make sure you have the captions on so you can see who everyone is and their claim to fame.

9 times out of 10 the guest will be in the middle with VoicePlay. Layne (far left) is up there with Adam from Home Free. They both make very unique sounds. Chen thesar (second from left) is the newest member and a tremendous tenor. Eli (second from right) pronounced Elly is a master tenor and could front any rock or metal band. Then there is Geoff (far right) pronounced Jeff who sounds like he is 3 floors deep.

To help with the names. Left we have the bebopper Lane, next is Sesare, then Anthony, Ellie, and Geoff "The Bassinater" Castellucci. Lastly, we have Cathy Geoffs, his real-life wife.

I already see that others have named who Voiceplay are but...
Geoff (pronouced Jeff) Castellucci: Bass Master (Four and a half to five octave range (has hit B0 in their Halo cover)) Check out his solo channel for his cover of "The Sound of Silence" among others.
Cesar De Larosa: Barritone/Tennor (big hair) (Check out Voiceplay's "I can't Make you love me" for a good song with his voice)
Eli (Pronounced to rhyme with jelly) Jacobson: Tenor extrordinare (bald guy)
    Layne Stein: Barritone/beatboxer
They have gone through several changes througout the years. J. None (who you'll see in "Nothing Else Matters") left to sing in the Navy was their Barritone for a while. Earl Jenkins (seen in the Moana medly) was their Tenor 1 for a LOOOONG time but left for personal reasons.
They work with a lot of Featured folks now and just about everything is phenominal. Enjoy the deep dieve, I'm sure us Voiceplayers will gladly enable the new addiction with all kinds of information.
Things to check out that I haven't mentioned above:
    Voiceplay: My Mother told me
    The Dragonborn Comes
    Hoist the Colors
    Queen in 5 minutes.
Oogie Boogie song (or any of the four songs they've done from The Nightmare before Christmas)
Geoff Castellucci: High and Dry (Great example of his range)
    Ain't No Sunshine
    Sixteen tons
    Till Then
    Ghost Riders In The Sky
Just to name a few :D

Okay, I think that's J None in the picture - it's kinda hard to see. He is considered a former member since he got recruited to sing for the military - Navy I think. He's come back for two or three videos when he's on leave. That gives me the impression that they're keeping the permanent fifth position open for a couple more years until his stint is over. I could be wrong but hope I'm not. J None is missed. He did come back for Nothing Else Matters and it is one AMAZING video!! VioLayne makes his second appearance and is fabulous as usual. You'll understand that once you watch that video. And please add Warriors (VioLayne's first appearance), followed by Dream On to your VoicePlay playlist. J None's first guest appearance was Friends On the Other Side from The Princess and the Frog. Wonderful!

If you want to see the range of geoff castellucci (The Bass), I think "nightmare before christmas" is the best.
