My father and I watched this when I was younger. It became a thing between us to watch this and spend time together. My father passed 2 years ago and every time I watch this movie or this scene, I can't help but remember my father. We didn't have a good relationship in the end, but this movie reminds me of the good times with him.

Elmo. It’s hard to show love to everyone, especially your enemies, like comudas he needed to go away, a very evil man.

This movie makes you believe that you will be see your loved ones again, even if you are atheist it doesn't matter, just for a moment you wanted to believe deeply... Father, if you hear me somehow i want you to know I miss you so much... People, don't forget to save some time for your loved ones, when i am graduated from collage my father was at hospital because of cancer. It was the most emotionless day of my life.

This and the end of "End of Days" always breaks me when he smiles when he sees his dead family while he is dying.

He was a soldier of Rome who will help me carry him. Honour him and honour is something a person is born with it cannot be given or earned. Such a fantastic movie

It was Lucilla whispering "Go to them... You're Home" and her son offering to help carry Maximus that had me weeping

Melikeomaccc I agree. We r free is a wonderful song and in this movie emotional. This singer and Keith from Celtic thunder singing this song I love. Then her speech the tears start coming hard along with all the men offering to carry him. I wanted to always name my son after Maximus but husband got his way and a jr. Darn it.

I think my favorite part of this scene while he is alive is the fact that when he is emperor of the great Roman Empire for all of about 2 minutes, he doesn't ask for help or anything. He only thinks of others. This scene is really powerful. Top 3 movie. Love it.

Did they ever really mention though that if he killed commodus he would become Emperor?

@@hieloz Appreciate this very quick reply of mine:
I'm pretty sure Maximus wouldn't become the Emperor. While Marcus (previous Caesar) wanted him to, he never wrote that request down or anything, it was just words, words that only Maximus had heard.
I believe those were just the "request of a dying man". And he was also deeply honoured and respected, and had the loyalty of the senators.
