  • The Flow Wall Desk has the ability to transform itself. Using a simple yet effective design twist, it transforms from a piece of art on the wall into a functional desk by showing off its unique aesthetic.

    As a work of experimental art, it is beautiful and the artist deserves a lot of credit. But as a functional everyday desk, personally I'd pass. I'm not sure if this desk has a latch to prevent it from folding up if you leaned against it too hard, but personally this doesn't seem durable and stable enough to actually work on even if it had something like that.

    What are the dimensions of this table?

  • @joycekim7139
    @joycekim7139 Před rokem +9

    how much weight can the table sustain? what kind of wood is it made of?

    • @SpackJarrow94
      @SpackJarrow94 Před rokem +6

      Weight was my first concern when looking at this video. It seems that side bar (which connects all the ribs) would transfer all the load to 2 points and then through 2 last ribs (on left and right) into the wall anchors.
      I checked out website in video description
      "Features brass hinges, providing durability and stability that has a large weight capacity up to 18 kg, 40 Lbs to support your daily use."

    How do the vanes pivot / attach to each other? - very clever, making my head hurt trying to understand this construction

    • @markbailor7207
      @markbailor7207 Před rokem +2

      They are attached to the desktop with hinges. The outer veins have a hinge at the top and are attached to the wall, the rest of the veins have a wire running through them. It’s a very simple and elegant design

    • @thomaswright8584
      @thomaswright8584 Před rokem

      @@markbailor7207 Thanks Mark. I’d got as far as the hinges, but had assumed some sort of slot in the side of each vanes and a pin on the other to allow it to slide up ne down and rotate. Hadn’t thought of a wire (much simpler). I can see the wire tensioning nut now. But how does the wire work as it is a much shorter distance when closed vs open. Or does the wire run in a curved shape when shut perhaps?

      Every slat except for the ends is slotted, and there is a solid rod that slides through the slots.

    A very nice design. I wonder how practical the design is but so far i think its simply beautiful. Also: for all the people who are complaining about the price. The investment costs of developing such a table should also be taken into account, and i assume he is making the products by himself so it generally seems labor intensive and there for expensive.

      Easy to find how-to's on this design. I made one really cheaply. Beware that the design is really impractical and applying weight to it, as you might with any desk, can cause it to fold up.
      Frankly, it's not a great desk at all.

    • @jonnysilver4642
      @jonnysilver4642 Před rokem

      @@thesaint8400 I was wondering the same. It needs some kind of latch at the back of the tables plate to keep it from unfolding again. Where have you found plans for the measurements? I feel like the design is pretty simple, but knowing the exact measurements for the grooves is what makes it look flowing

    Three thousand bucks? Well they'll sell a couple for that price. It's worth about $500 for the clever design and the premium wood. I'll wait for the knockoff to hit Walmart for $99. Too bad for the designer; a reasonable price might have made you some decent returns. For greed you get squat.

      As I always say to people who don't like the cost of handmade items, feel free to make it yourself. Another fellow here on CZcams did just that, which is what brought me here My time is worth what my time is worth. I don't own a sweatshop with full of impoverished children, and I don't have the time, skills, or equipment to build a piece like this. I notice this comment was made a year ago, and I have yet to see anything like this at Wal-Mart or anywhere else for $99, so I guess the OP is still editing for that knockoff.
