even though i'm american i still make tea before i watch chopsy
Glad to hear it 😁👍
Milky
And biscuits of course.
I purchased one almost a year ago, works brilliantly, and even though there is a yearly SIM card fee I see it as cheap insurance 👍. Was actually surprised the first time I moved the bike around in my garage without the fob near by to get a call that my bike had been “stolen” 😆!
Great chops been thinking about this tracker as it's been re- sized smaller great thanks chops thanks from Danny
One thing to note is that they don't recommend keeping the fob with your keys. Keep it in your bike jacket for example. That way if someone lifts your keys along with the bike you'll still get an alert because they don't have the fob.
Yes good point 👍
Love the honesty of your feature video. You can never have too many security items on your bike. I had 2 trackers an alarm an apple tag, chain and a hip lock when I went to Spain on my bike. Oh and a bike cover. 😅
I have my monimoto just over a year now, still on its original battery. Its fitted to my K1600gt, as its the only bike I tour on and leave unattended overnight outside hotels though still have disk lock and litlock and cover and sleep good. Great piece of mind.
Got these on both my bikes and had no issues.
I'm digging the way you're using the new garage. Cozy space.
Had one 6 months and well impressed, like the daily status too, well worth the money…
Yes I think so Ted 👍
Love that chair in your garage. 👍
Got the older model on my bikes, highly recommend them. Battery still going strong 18 months later
Loving the sneak peak of the theme of the garage mate. Suits you sir 🫡
Thanks buddy 👍
Interesting vid. Will definitely look in to it as you have to be so very security conscious these days. I have locks, ground anchor, alarms, spot light & a camera so may as well think about trackers too.
The new studio/garage/man cave is looking good Chops! 👍🏻
Thanks Nathan, it's very nice 👍 😁
Lol 😂 the custard tart and mince pie done me in 🤣😂
Very enjoyable Mr chops Great advert
I shall show the wife 😉
All the best Mr chops 👍
Thanks Michael 👍 😊
Like your opening credits ,
Exactly the information I required but never get around to researching.... Just ain't got time !👍👍
Was the notification fast enough hmmmm I'm not convinced ! Good vid though chops v helpful !
Been using them for years (I have 2x units). Zero problems.
Gday mate! Love ur Vids!
4 months ago my bike was at a mates place in his shed ready for a track day the next day. He literally rolled my bike across the floor. Mabie 6 foot. My phone notified me of movement. So I rang him to say "Get off my bike ya mug" I recieved that notification within 10 seconds of him moving it! With s GPS location. I love this device!
Yes that's very cool eh 😁👍
Got the old model a couple of years ago for Xmas. A real good product rings me as soon as I move my bike. Tells me it’s not moved every hour or so only gripe is replacing the damn battery’s every 3 months which is an extra expense to the £36 a year sim but for the peace of mind it gives me well worth it. 👍😃. Keep up the good work chopsie 😁
Thanks Mark 👍
I have the older model, 16months in, original batteries. You have selected the higher notifications so hence your battery usage, drop it back to 1 per day, to prove the system works, and save your batteries.
Cheers Chopsy for the extra discount, bit the bullet !
I have had the older version for a couple of years, the batteries last close to a year and the yearly subscription is great value, the only slight negative is that the insurance companies I have used don’t recognise it, but for what they cost and how accurate they are I can’t fault it
That's perfect for me. xmas prezzie sorted. beats socks again.
Ohhhh interested in this one.
Kettle on
Good stuff.I will have to see if it can be bought in SA?cheers.
Buddy, you crack me up! Great presentation, and a mega bit of kit. I’ll keep these in mind. Luckily in my part of Canada. Motorcycle theft isn’t as prevalent as the UK. #MilkyTea #GarageStudio 👌🏻
That's not bad, do you remember those crap Meta alarms wired into your bike, had one on an old Kwacka, right pain in the botty it was. Great vid 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
Yes haha 😄 👍
Same as Dan'l & Checker below it's worth the money & yearly subscription. It works.
I wonder how long it will take BMW, Ducati and others to catch on & fit on new bikes?
Well done John, great insight into MoniMoto, I think I will be using your code !!!!Just a suggestion, Is it better to keep the fob away from the key so if they steal your key they still activate the system? is that a good suggestion?
Yes good point, I actually normally keep it in my jacket pocket 👍
Been looking at these plus the sizapp. Can’t decide currently 😢
I’ve just got the new one , I’ve been using them on other bikes this new one is smaller just got to find somewhere to hide it on the 701 maybe stick it to the air box lol
I am full cheapskate.. i use apple air tag on my bike:)
And now the cakes come out once the garage is finished !!!
Haha 😁👍
Can the tracker work if the bike is 'screened' - eg. by being hidden/transported in an all metal van etc.?
No probably not but it has to be taken out at some point..
My V4S was stolen and recovered thanks to a Monimoto being installed. My mates bike stolen at the same time had a hardwired tracker installed which the thieves quickly located by tracing wiring from the battery. Another benefit of being independently powered means it’s more difficult for thieves to locate. Although recovered the same day my bike was sadly written off due to damage caused with an angle grinder during the theft.
Glad to hear it helped to recover the bike 👍
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Which insurance companies recognise moni moto?
Unimpressed that there is no motion detector. On the Komobi, there is, so as soon as the bike is touched you receive a notification. which will give you time to run down before th thief has removed your chain, disc lock etc. Also tracks your daily rides on a map, provides speed and angling of the bike thought the journey. Would love you to review this product and give us some feedback👍 Keep up the great work. Saludos desde Madrid 🇪🇸
My insurer insisted on a tracker, even recommended Moni Moto, and then I read the quote and discovered it was not sufficient as no Thatcham approval. I kept it regardless and installed it on my bike -great piece of kit for the money - should add I insured elsewhere…..
I wonder what makes this better than and Apple tag (or similar)? Yea a tag doesn’t ring you but it notifies you, it’s cheaper and no yearly Sim purchase thingy. Just asking the question, would be good to know.
airtags need an iphone nearby but this only needs a cell tower.
How about some art on your walls and possibly some potted plants with well placed foot lighting behind them for ambience. Speaking of lighting, yes more coming from the corners also a couple lamps and wall sconces are quite nice. Sorry for overstepping Chops, too many years working on movie sets. Probably no plants though, you wouldn’t want to get teased for having plants in a manly mans garage/shop😂
Hi Chops, is it a plug in charger unit? How long does the battery last in the unit?
Cheers.
It's just AA batteries which can last up to two years 👍
The website states "Running on two single-use, long-life batteries, a Monimoto device is energy efficient. Its batteries can last up to 12 months".
I have the previous model, and 19 months in and on original batteries for Tracker and Fob. I have set it up for Daily location notifications, which proves it is working….if this is set higher, battery life will drop a lot. I got 3 months Sim usage when you buy it, then you subscribe annually. Or provide your own Sim.
Placement on the bike is critical - or hide it, and ensure the GPS signal works accurately. I have needed to use the Tech Services of Monimoto 3 times - always available - and sorted my issues out within 10mins. Issues were changing phones, accounts etc - device is great. I use it most to see when my bike is actually being serviced…I can see when they take into the shop😀
I've seen this somewhere else in the past......
Seems very good value, although I notice there is a £36 annual charge for the embedded SIM card.
Yes indeed there is 👍
I understand you can source your own sim, and install…but the subscription charge is much less than other trackers (whose devices usually drain your bike battery but might provide gps tracking downloads after rides etc). You takes your choice. I found Insurance companies don’t accept this device as a tracker either.
£36 per year is not bad really given the fact most bikes cost 15-20k new it’s a bargain. it’s one tank of fuel
@@Crsf84 Agree.
Can't understand why these are not accepted as a tracker for insurance premium discounts.
Have one bought it recently, hopefully never need it....👍🏍
The fob should be kept on you rather than attached 2 the bike keys imo👍 I've got 1 great bit of tech
Yeah either or, I tend to keep it in my pocket 👍
The instructions are very clear - you really should read the instructions if you are going to show a sponsors products off. I think you put minimal effort and planning into this one.
@@wl660 bit harsh
The "studio" looks great, a very effective modern well lit filming environment........but is that your Nan's leather armchair?
Thanks buddy, no the chairs are super cool you know 😎👍
So ... Does this also track your ahem speeding
No absolutely not 👍
Def on look out for a tracker Chopsy, left you a dislike as you asked, merry Xmas 🎄 mate 😂 😅
Haha thanks 🤪
Apple AirTag maybe! As I’m a cheap skate too.
Whats the range on a AirTag tho ?
@@svracing3 Not sure I’ll have to test it and see.
I have Monimoto and an AirTag on my Bike. The AirTag works by being within blue tooth range of ANY iPhone. So if your thief nicks your bike and has their iPhone with them - you can get your bike location. For £30, defo worthwhile. There are caveats, like the thief will be notified they have been tracked by an AirTag when they get home.
@@wl660 interesting that AirTag uses other people’s iPhones to assist with this. I’m pretty sure this happens when the AirTag is changed to lost mode maybe. Not sure how accurate the location would be either…but could definitely help.
@@RiderReviews accuracy is as good as the iPhone GPS reporting it….the AirTag doesn’t have its own GPS. It’s worth reading up on AirTags, interesting technology, pros and cons and limitations.
I own one but the battery's are not the greatest, if you commute in the rain the battery terminals get rusty and you have to keep sanding them down, lost connection error all all the time, 7/10
You have the same version? Battery still like new in mine
Only 7% off, u should cut down on the mince pies mate 😆
will that work on a car???
Yeah absolutely 👍
Hi John, they are good to a point, reasonably priced plus the sd card and no installation costs which is good, downside, always a downside, I had one , bike nicked, called police, not really interested , fitted a hard wired tracker, yes more costly and cannot be used on any other vehicle, well not easily, bike nicked again, received call from tracker company to confirm theft , they phoned Police and their own security company,, within ten minutes bike was stopped and returned to me within a couple of hours, spot on, not saying this would happen every time but more chance of faster recovery, the old adage, you pay for what you get or need or can afford. Garage looks good, not checked the vid yet. Have a good one and all the best for the New Year.
@@derekholme6922 Was that a bike manufacturer tracker or a different third party one?
@@brettmaton7257 third party, Biketrac and never had battery issues as had inbuilt battery charged when running.
Tracker Alert!
Your H2 has been dropped on its side(again)
Sorry to disappoint you but the only solution to not have the bike stolen in the U.K. is to not have a bike. Period. I had 2 disk locks, the heaviest chain on the market, tracker, data tag, locked in a bike store behind 3 gates… in the end it was so ridiculous getting it in and out I had to sell before it gets stolen. K6 750… not even a special bike. ALL bikes on my estate including my previous one were stolen. That’s U.K.
Does it have GPS, GSM, and RF tracking capability? If not, you won't find it if it's put into a van or shipping container or underground garage. Also, as others say, what do you do when you do find it on your own? Companies that physically track the bike for you and liaise with the police and obtain search warrants may cost more, but they have working relationships and are, more importantly, quicker, safer, have more knowledge of the crims tricks and behaviours on hiding stolen bikes. Some have included in the cost, recovery of the bike. Cheaper isn't always the best. If your budget can afford it, go higher spec. If not, something is better than nothing, and having it is well worth it, even if you have to change the batteries more often than is said.
A couple questions. What do you do after you are notified your bike is being stolen? Most of our police won't go after the bike even if you give them address where the bike is, they generally respond when injuries are incurred. If you go out in the middle of the night to stop the theft your self you might end up in the hospital.
I say this as being a victim of two recent bike thefts. Video surveillance from at least six cameras. I could have provided the police with DNA, finger prints with names and addresses of the thieves and nothing would be done. After all as they said "you have insurance ".
I think locks and alarms and physical barriers are useful but I don't need the added frustration of knowing where my bike is and then not having the ability to retrieve it without shooting someone and going to prison myself.
Sorry for being negative trackers are only useful if someone will track and retrieve the bikes.
The reality is that bike thieves often push them away and hide them locally, and come back later if they feel no tracker has been activated. The monimoto definitely calls you instantly if the key fob is not near (as I suspect it was for Chopsy in this video - 50ft). So this would allow you to retrieve your own bike.
@@wl660 They put usually haul them away from here. The biggest problem is the police won't go get them. If you go get it you need to go with an armed posse because are thief's are frequently armed and dangerous.
@@flatcapcaferacer you got to do what you got to do. Police are not to be relied on - too busy watching social media.
@@wl660 😁😁
Do you really think it's the best one? Really lol? Coincidentally it's the same one TMF endorses, I think? Kudos to your honesty for declaring they sponsor you, though.
It is all well and good informing you when your bike is on the move to the chop shop with live GPS tracking. But. Bike thieves increasingly know about trackers and park under concrete arches, brick built garages, etc, knowing the GPS signal will be lost while they try and strip down and find the tracker. Short of having another bike or car to immediately hop on and follow the stolen machine once it's on the move, this tracker is unlikely to get your bike back.
There is a tracker on the market that has the crucial addition of radio signal detection, for when it is parked by thieves to disable GPS location, and the company also track and recover your stolen vehicle for you. Of course, it is not cheap and there is a subscription, but for a beloved, expensive bike, I know which system I would have.
However, bike thieves watch CZcams, too, and even this company is a victim of it's own system's key feature, because they have a CZcams channel showing successful recoveries. So, thieves now also know about radio tracking, and simply tend to now park the stolen bike or car in a location that they monitor for a day or two to see if the recovery team or our ever useless Plods turn up. No one turns up, they can safely chop the vehicle up.
Get an AirTag, sorted
Good bit of tech, but I just don't like buying stuff with ongoing charges / subscriptions. Also it's not really protection or deterrent from theft, as it only tells you "after the fact". Our useless Police won't be interested in following it, or reclaiming it for you , so it's down to you to go and get it back yourself, which may not be a great idea.
no subscription fees for me otherwise I would have bought a few of them.
I'm not convinced by any trackers. They seem to benefit the insurance companies but at the cost of the punter. If it helps find your stolen bike then its cost you money as it will be tagged 'stolen and recovered'. To avoid that all you can really do is try and find it yourself before reporting it to the police and insurers.
The point of the tracker is to find the bike yourself.
Never seen any marketed like that though 😉
Monimoto are shite when it comes to stolen bikes. Get a proper monitored system, the ones that don’t pimp out to CZcamsrs.
