When my son was a toddler I introduced him to transformers prime. He immediately gravitated to WheelJack. He used to get so frustrated at 1st trying to transform this guy..lol but to this day its 1 of his favorite figures
Great choice, Wheeljack is one of the best Prime-verse figures. Shame about Knockout but then looking at his TV design it's probably about as good as they could pull off given when it was made.
Honestly love this figure so much, especially when you realise the swords can store perfectly in both modes by clipping onto the sides of the feet under the car in alt mode and sliding in the gaps beside the backspikes in robot mode. Beautiful

I love this guy. Wheeljack always had a “likes to perform skills in vehicle mode” and “is also a warrior” in his bios but we only get his nerd side. Wheeljack is a complicated character. And this figure’s design just shows how years of confinement into his lab deformed his posture while also still being a deadly bot to mess with. In other words. . . I want this figure...
The base wheel jack car mode kind of gives me a drift vibe, kind of surprised it never got recolored or retooled into Drift given the sword thing wheel jack had going in Prime.
I found my Wheeljack, with his swords, in a pre-owned section of a toy store and I was thrilled. He looked like he had basically been taken out of the box and never touched. I'm happy to see he also gave you similar joy.
And here's a little back story (alternate timeline where S3 happened a bit differently): turns out there were 4 more Protoforms tucked away inside the Harbinger. When Screamer returned to the Cons he took them, figuring he'd earn a few extra brownie points. Using stored CNA samples Knock Out created Slicer (Wheeljack clone), Hot Shot (Bumblebee clone), Flamewar (Arcee clone) & Swerve (Breakdown clone). Flames & Slice fit in, Shot & Swerve not so much. Latter two abandoned the Decepticons some time between S2's end & S3's beginning, hiding out in the very junkyard Ratchet had decided to brood in, leading to their recruitment into the Autobots. Bulkhead was, initially, quite weary around Swerve since he sounded just like Breakdown, but, his friendly, chatty nature grew on him. Occassional going overboard with said chatting notwithstanding. Hot Shot & Smokescreen hit it off right away, forming a loose, carformer trio with Bumblebee. Unfortunately Slicer & Flamewar weren't doing too swell. Their genetic structures proved unstable, Slicer especially so who began to mutate into a mindless rage zombie slowly corroding into acidic metal gunk Knock Out callously rechristened Dead End. Flamewar's mind fractured completely, turning her into a volatile lunatic who only listened to the arguing voices in her skull as her body, little by little, started to shrink.
Also, if you're ever in the mood for great light piping, check out Spy Shot 6 from the 07 Movie line. Dude has such great piping that his eyes might as well be battery powered.
There's just no words for how amazing this figure is. But then Thew comes along like a goddamn badass and finds the words to describe it. Awesome review, my dude!
Could not agree more! I too sat out for the Prime years and bought this guy and Dead End together off eBay. Immediately fell in love! That mold is just fantastic and one that I keep going back to!

I see that Alt Mode and all I see is the Mach 5 from Speed Racer, which works since he was the Gadget Guy in G1. Also that color scheme for Dead End is just pure G2, Domino Rally, Early 90's Neon bliss and I love it.

Not gonna lie, I finally got this guy earlier this year, and I really do enjoy him. My biggest gripe is definitely the shoulders, it helps if you don't fully extend his arms, and have the tail lights on the top of the shoulders, instead of the back. Great video, sir!
see for me those front holes on the vehicle mode make me think of some huge intakes for ground effects or something, i kinda like what it adds to the vehicle tbh
That Deadend repaint straight up looks like it was supposed to be Bludgeon, but they changed their mind’s last minute and made him Deadend with most of Bludgeon’s color scheme.
Still one of my favorite figures to this day, I remember liking it so much that I thought about picking up all the variants of the mold...I didn't, cause that would have required having...Money...But I thought about it. I did eventually pick up the Beast Hunters one, which I too always thought looked like a mechanized dragon head.
Seeing as I still have this guy & at one point I had the dead end and beast hunter retool of jackie, you'd think I love this mold... and I truly do but I ending up selling everything except the og because no room for 3 of this mold (I also couldn't sell the og as it was the only one that I bought) And a thew always improves a toy. P.S thanks for getting me into gunpla thew, been meaning to pass on the message since the beginning of the year

Man, I loved this figure while I had him. He broke really quickly though, joints cracking and whatnot. My figure was just unbelievably brittle. Exited for the siege guy, but might give this lad a second look, too. Epic review!
