The most helpful video I've found for this, thanks for making this! Only confusing part for me was understanding I don't need to scan the QR code under each tab in the app, the QR code reflects the settings in all the tabs with exception to the advanced ones.
You’re welcome! Yes, that part is a bit confusing.
Thanks for the video :)
I've been using labs for a few months now and I absolutely love it
Absolutely. Yes, I do as well. Labs is such a powerful feature and really helps to get the very best out of the GoPro.
Amazing informative material ,thanks !
You’re welcome!
Thank you, great explanation!
You’re welcome!
wonderful video. thank you for this.
You’re welcome and I appreciate it.
SUPER HELPFUL! Thanks a lot
You’re welcome!
Great video. ISO and shutter speed invaluable.
Thanks and agreed!
Epic - going to try these!
They really do unlock a lot of extra potential from the GoPro.
Great informative video thank you
I’m glad you found it useful. Thanks.
Whaiting for it long time thx ❤❤
You’re welcome!
That qr when you put in the time (7:11) looks like a space invader 😂 Thanks for doing these videos. Always helpful.
You’re right, it does 😂 Thank you, I appreciate it.
I've been using GoPro Labs for only a short while, thanks to one of your previous videos. I use the Overlay/Burn-In lab to place a date and time stamp in the video, and the Large Chapter lab so the recordings are in fewer 12GB files which I find are simpler to manage and edit than the default 4GB files. I plan to test more of the other features after watching this video, especially the EXPS and FAST labs
Those are both great QR codes as well. The overlay/burn-in is neat for specific use cases and I know a lot of GoPro users that love the Large Chapter feature.
Thanks for this.Even the forums gave the wrong info to disable a single preset.
I only use my gopro 12 for streaming so I am playing with the rtmp and join presets so by rights, I will only need to scan the code without using the phone app.
I also like the tusb so I can use a powerbank without the low power error and the clean hdmi is also great.
Like you, I don't need camera settings. I do that with the camera however, being able to change ev comp while streaming is a bonus.
Hopefully gopro will keep adding codes as we go along.
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I hope GoPro continues to innovate. The GoPro Labs is one of my favorite features GoPro offers.
Hey - great video. I use GoPro labs and never knew about the extras drop down menu. I am not sure how I missed that! Question for you - I use the custom exposure lock settings on the website. Is this available on the QR control Ap too or is it just the nine locations? Do I need to rescan the code every time the GoPro reboots or is there a way to keep the exposure lock location fixed where it was upon restart?
Hi there. This is super cool.
I have an complex question. Please help.
So I am currently filming football on a pitch that has flood lights. This is after sun set.
The camera is set up on a pole in the corner. What would you advise would be best settings?
I've got a GoPro Hero 12.
my favorite settings: NR01=1-25 , EXPX=100 (for Pal, 120for ntsc) (the lowest shutter speed with good working EIS, and no flickering). Pretty good is also WIDE (more control red color in grading for me) 😁
Those are all great choices.
Thank you.
You’re welcome.
I use TUSB to trust all power supply s when plugged in because sometimes you gotta use what you can get. I also tried GAIN with a negative 20db as that's what is needed on the motorbike but it is only gain not reduction unfortunately. thanks for the headsup on FAST , that's GOLD 😅
Just checked out TUSB and yes, TUSB is definitely also a great one. I need to apply that one to my GoPro as well as I can’t always count on having my trusty Anker power bank. Thanks for your feedback!
Hi, use my GoPro 11 without any gimbals and i want to film at 100fps in 4k linear mode with hypersmooth on. I usually control the exposure on spot by longpress and lock on the display.
What value should I choose in EXPN? 😶what about EXPT? I am trying to shoot a Music Video for myself with my GoPro. So I am planning to use DaVinci Resolve after.
Thanks 👍 BTW You have a great English pronunciation. My old English teacher would say Royal English.
I appreciate your feedback! Thank you.
Will this update allow me to use my GoPro 11 without the battery and just use a outboard 12volt battery such as my Noqua via a 12volt USB hub?
i want to set photo mode to capture at 1280*720 resolution in gopro 10 can we do this
Hi, I just want to add a date time stamp on every video that I take, I tried and not working, would you please do one QRCode so I can scan or do a video to show how? Thanks.
I have installed Fast on my gopro 10 but seems to have no effect on startup with both fast info and gopro labs info sticking on the screen for a few seconds Any suggestions.
I have installed GoPro Labs on my naked GoPro 12. However, when I show a QR code, the settings do not change on the front screen and in the Quik app, is this correct or is something going wrong?
Does it void warranty or chances of bricking the GoPro?
Thank you for this! I’m a VERY new GoPro user.
I’m using it to livestream my kids baseball games through an app called GameChanger so family who live far away can stream in.
Can one of these QR codes silence the onboard mics so there’s no sound streaming in to those watching?
You’re welcome! Unfortunately, I don’t believe there is a QR code that makes this possible. There is code DAUD that disable audio in video captures but I believe this only applies to recording and not live-streaming.
One potential work around for this would be to plug in a mic adapter to the GoPro but not connect any mic to it. I believe this would accomplish the end goal.
I tried to download but the link on go pro labs doesn't respond, does it still work? I have a hero 10
At 08:30 does this feature unlock some sort of hidden GPS feature in GoPro 12? It's titled GPS enabled Camera Speed Triggers. Just wondering since I have a GP11.
no, it doesn't.,works only for gopro 11, etc.
Where is glossary for all of the various options??
I wish I could do this with my Alpha cameras!
I know, right? I wish more camera manufacturers offered experimental firmware with advanced features.
how does the gopro handle conflictiing settings? LIke if you set somthing to perminant then on the gopro itself change a setting within a camera mode which one is now applied?
Great question. The permanent QR code will still over ride the setting on the GoPro until the QR code is removed or the camera is reset.

GoPro rookie user here. Will I be able to format my SD card once I already installed the Labs firmware in my SD card? I worry that the "UPDATE" folder would be deleted as well.
What I usually do whenever I finish transferring my files to my computer is to format my SD card instead of simply deleting them. So a follow up question is, is formatting my SD card every time I want to delete my existing files good practice?
Both great questions. Yes, as soon as you have installed the firmware it is okay to delete the UPDATE folder or format the card. The firmware does not need the folder to be present on the microSD card to work properly.
Yes, I consider it a good practice to format your microSD card at least once a month. I, like you, almost always format my microSD card after I have copies all files from it to my computer. This helps ensure my microSD card has maximum storage available before my next adventure and also helps prevent corruption of the contents of the card.
N ICE video!🎉
Do you know if there’s a QR code for NOT splitting files in appr. 4GB chunks anymore?? 😅
Thank you. Yes, there sure is. 64BT should be the code you want for 12GB chapters.
@@GreatDayForAHike whaaaaaat for real?!?! Omg that saves my life ( not literally) I’ll keep you updated, should be done in couple weeks, you’re wonderful! Thanks so much for the video!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
!M64BT=1 works for 64GB cards or larger, for cameras HERO8 and newer it will reproduce 12GB chapters. HERO11 and newer, it was extended to support any size chapter up to 64GB, !M64BT=64000
@@0dan0 Thanks for this additional input and specifics!
Note the warning on larger chapters. Unfortunate that the warning cuts off at “but are compatible with” compatible with what.?
What about a bunch of qr codes
If i went to select noise reduction + bitrate + wide gamut + log400
A diffrent qr code in the same time how they can all to gether be scanned in one scan ??.?
Yes, you can do this. If you create several in the app but then wait to scan the QR code until you’ve input all of the codes you want you should then be able to scan them all at once via a single QR code.
@@GreatDayForAHike thx for confirmation 😊😊👍👍
@RabiiHayani You’re welcome.
The option in qr code app in extrats .... input how its work ?????
The Input field for each is where you need to enter in the parameters you want for a specific QR code. The input options will be a bit different depending upon the QR code being configured. Some are a simple enable or disable and others have a range of parameters.
Hi, it's me again. Quick question. Is it possible to put permanent qr codes at the same time? I mean, like the iso display, at the same time, you'll have a fast boot feature, etc.?
Yes it is. You can apply as many QR codes as you want to, technically. Of course some settings could conflict with other settings but as long as they are non-conflicting QR codes they should work.
I typically run about 7 different codes at a time.
@@GreatDayForAHike oh i see. if i put those qr extras on permanent and if i scan the QR presets that i made like the bitrate, iso min/max, shutter speed, etc does it affect or rewrite the permanent settings that i have put on? Sorry for this questions i really want to understand what's the dont's about this, i'm new to photography/film and gopro is my first camera.
@@GreatDayForAHike thank you sir. ☺️ This is very helpful. U respond so quick. It's 12 midnight here but still watching ur vids. Ur awesome 🤙
QR codes will not overwrite other QR codes already scanned unless you do a different variation of the same code you’ve already scanned.
Example: You originally did BITR = 200 but then you decide to change that to BITR = 150. When you scan it, this will update the BITR setting to 150.
I have bitr set at 150 does the higher rate impact on battery usage and reduced time?
Technically yes, but probably very minimal. Maybe a few less minutes per battery charge.
@@GreatDayForAHike Thanks feel battery life is slightly less but benefits of gopro labs outweigh this plus always have 2 reserve batteries. Like others i find fast is not all that fast!! From leicestershire uk by the way
@martineudall Nice, greetings from the US.
Thanks 🙏
Absolutely
Is it fine to download the firmware and put it to sd card using android?
Yes, this should be fine as long as you can copy the entire unzipped Update folder to the microSD card.
@@GreatDayForAHike thank you. I've been trying a couple of minutes now, but sadly, it doesn't work 😔
@@GreatDayForAHike there are other folders that showed up when i paste the UPDATE folder on the root directory of my sd card like "Alarms", "DCIM", etc. where you will not find when you open the sd card directory on desktop. I use zarchiver to extract the file.
I followed the steps exactly how you said, but it still doesnt work
Which part of the process doesn’t work for you?
@@GreatDayForAHike Well im puting the sd with that program in my camera and it doesnt show me anything
@Vladstff Oh, for the Labs firmware update. Make you copy the entire unzipped “UPDATE” folder to the microSD card. Then powering on your GoPro with this on the microSD card should trigger the GoPro to start installing the firmware.
This is so unproductive from gopro, these things should just be build in
Maybe with the Hero 13.
