When Mori starts her part, it feels like a whole new sky opens up. I think the original from the movie was sung by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga, possibly the greatest technical singer in the world today who is also happened to be one of Mori's idols. In fact, Lea introduced Mori to Disney. There is a reason, a lot of Filipino female artists sound so much like Disney.

Yes, Lea Salonga and Brad Kane were the character voices in the movie, whereas Peabo and Regina did the soundtrack/radio version.
Originals are Lea Salonga (Philippines) and Brad Kane (USA)
The original singing voices for the characters of Aladdin and Princess Jasmin in the movie itself and it's soundtrack were Brad Kane and Lea Salonga (a Filipina and a Broadway and West End Star 😊 ). The radio release or pop version of A Whole New World was the one sung by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.
It won Original Song at the Grammys, Brad Kane and Lea Salonga performed it complete with a flying carpet. Peabo and Regina's version also won for Best Pop Performance.
Suffice it to say, it's a good song and lots of people love it. 😊

If you didn't know, Morissette represented the start of Disney Plus in the Philippines in which Disney produced a song for her at the opening celebration called 'Imagine More". The event was called a Night of Wonder in which she sang a Disney trio medley...czcams.com/video/1tcFWWkjKjc/video.html

Daren had just turned 19 when they did this cover. He was not even thought of, his parents were still kids when the original version of this song came out. It was actually purposely done with Disney's blessing for the Live-Action version being promoted.

People are telling you was Lea Salonga and Brad,- Fact.
Another fact- Lea mentioned her to Alan Menken (the composer) and he and at time Genie, (Will Smith) arranged for a meet up, in Japan. She flew to Tokyo to meet them and sing it with the Original composer, and promote the Movie, then immediately flew back to Ca. to do a concert the next night! what a full 24hrs..(look for "Morissette/Will Smith").
Also, someone else mentioned that squeaks were out, Disney is very strict on what they want for such things and it was to the "T". However in another comment someone said Imagine More, she was asked to do a song for the launch of Disney+ for the Philippines and they wrote Imagine More for her, and she performed it in a setting to die for, Highly recommend that one.
She has done several Classics as covers and now has her own, Imagine More.
No vocal breaks, but she snuck a small cry and the tiniest bit of grit in in a couple spots 🙂 I agree about Imagine More - it's a beautiful song that doesn't get the attention it should. I hope they react to the Grand Finale performance version.

MORISSETTE has recently finished a film that was started just before covid hit called SONG OF THE FIREFLIES which im very looking forward to see, so yes she is an actress, she has judged and mentored a singing competition called ASIA DREAM with MICHAEL BOLTON and she was younger than all the contestants, she was invited to to go to Japan to meet and sing with Alan menkin the original composer of a whole new world and Will Smith who was in the remake of this classic movie, she recently performed six nights with David foster and friends, she was only meant to do three nights due to public demand, its only a matter of time before she has world domination because more than anyone she deserves it 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.

This was an official Disney event, so they were limited on what they could do with the song (no squeaks, no real belting). Both are belters. Darren was born in Canada and moved to the PH to participate in Voice Kids (came coach Morissette had) and immediately became a superstar - headlined his own solo concert at 14 to a sold out arena. I think he was about 18 in this video, he's now 22. His Wish Bus performance of Chandelier was the first Wish video that went viral and made the Wish Bus the icon it is now. That year, he and Morissette performed a duet of Chandelier at the Wish Awards. His follow up Wish Bus video - I Believe - was even more phenomenal.

By the way, Lea Salonga is another great Filipino singer, she was the singing voice of Jasmine and also of Mulan in the animated films. This performance of Mori and Darren on the Wish Bus in 2019 was part of the promotion for the live-action "Aladdin" movie in the Philippines. They were handpicked by Disney to do it, and, if I'm not mistaken, were given strict instructions to keep it close to the original as possible, that's why when we listen to this it was like listening to the 1992 original. 🥰
When tears started to roll her eyes while watching this, I was surprised and also got teary-eyed. I don't exactly know what was going on in her mind at that moment, but I'm guessing it was the nostalgic feeling, of like being transported back to our childhood days, the simple but happy life and the joyful memories, with these classic Disney animated films and their music, this "Disney magic". And listening to Darren and Mori's rendition with the original soundtrack really gives me that wonderful feeling and emotion. Perhaps it was the same for her, hence those tears. 🥰

The 90's version , is by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga...the 2019 movie.... singers were , Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott . Disney asked Darren and Mori to sing it, to promote the movie in Ph. Will Smith wanted to meet Morissette and wanted her to meet the composer of the song, Alan Menken and he and her sang the song as Will watched yes there is a YT video of that.

Mori has also done a Broadway Series (covers) , "She Used to be Mine," and "Defying Gravity " were my faves. Keep in mind for each cover, she has an intro where she talks for about 3 minutes about different things (experiences / meanings, etc). Choose the video where she's wearing the red shirt.

Darren and Mori were chosen to sing A WHOLE NEW WORLD by Disney to sing the song from the opening of the new ALADIN film in the Philippinens, not long after Mori and Darren where invited to Japan but Darren couldn't make it so Mori was alone and met the writer of the song and Will Smith in the hotel concert room, it's a short Video but nice, I think if you put Morissette Amon meets Will Smith you will find it, then Mori was chosen to sing for the new Disney Channel in the Philippinens a new Disney song IMAGINE MORE live, ENJOY.

The original singing voice for the original animated movies for Princess Jasmine and Mulan is also a Filipino, Lea Salonga. That's is why Morissette and Darren wanted to give justice to this song based of the original of Lea and Brad Kane. She is also an award winning broadway/west-end actress, she was the original Kim of Miss Saigon, the first Filipino and Asian to play Eponine in Les Miserable then played Fantine as well. You can just search her and you will see alot of her performances you can react to about her. BTW, she is now in her 50s but still have a great voice.

Originally by Filipina Lea Salonga at probably 18 years old. There should be a video when that were recording this. She became a #1 Broadway Star after this performance.
