  • Have you ever heard of an Asado? The Spanish word Asado refers to the barbecue technique in various South American countries, especially Argentina and Uruguay where it is also a traditional event.
An Asado usually consists of meat and vegetables cooked on a grill called a parrilla, or an open fire (whereby the meat is skewered on a metal frame and is roasted by placing it next to a slow-burning fire).
In this video, we demonstrate how to prepare a very basic Asado using a "Fire Cage" (fabricated by Savage BBQ UK) and cooking over our authentic Namibian braai wood.
There is a bit of an art to cooking over a wood fire and selecting the right hardwood is only the first step.

Brilliant demo, I have been looking at Savage BBQ and this was really helpful seeing how to manage the fire. I currently use a pellet grill and I can see its a very different approach. Thank you.
