when I was a kid back in the day we would go to the boat races at George Winter Park in St Louis when Billy seabold was still running strong and his son Tim was just getting going. it was awesome. it was grateful for my mother for taking me to see the boat races she loved it as well. I always wanted to race some form of Motorsport but my mother said it was too expensive. ☮️❤️🎵🌍🤗🏁
I was an official on the IOGP circuit and present for all of these crashes. Lots of friends and loved ones out on the course, and your heart stopped every single time until you saw that helmet pop up and the driver clasp his hands over his (or her) head to signal "I'm o.k." Sadly, Jim Poplin, chief of the STARS rescue team, and Walt Yarbrough, the voice of IOGP heard in the background of many of these clips, are no longer with us.
man i remember these powerboat races at the Pittsburgh Regata. it was such a huge event back then. today im not even sure if the Regata is even a thing anymore.
