I always had the impression that Robin had a somewhat rocky relationship with his father. I'm thinking of things like Hugh's publicly stated wish that Robin fail when he left the Bee Gees, the whole business of trying to make Robin a ward of the court during that same period and his reference to Robin's voice sounding like a bleating sheep. Robin had too much class to disrespect his father in am interview but I still don't like Hugh very much. Not that it matters.
Yes indeed...I'd like to share that Rob used 4711 Ice eau de cologne, as it was his fav. after shave. I use 4711 eau de parfum. Rob must have smelled glorious! The connection is that this man is gorgeous even in posted videos...so much of what he shares is sweet smelling...
Hugh Gibb raised his four sons and daughter well. Robin was absolutely spot on that you shouldn't inflict a desire for the children to go one way if they show an interest in something, in the Gibbs' case, music. If only the Jacksons' father and the Osmonds' father, took a leaf or two out of Mr Gibb's book. Unlike Mr Osmond or Mr Jackson, Mr Gibb supported his sons and didn't manage them (although he did for a bit in the early days, which he later stated he disagreed with). Also, Mr Gibb had a musical background. Not too sure if Mr Osmond or Mr Jackson had some musical background, but Mr Gibb certainly did, but Mr Jackson abused his kids incessantly, unlike Mr Gibb. That's why the Gibb family - and Osmond family too - are more sane than the Jackson family. The key difference between the three families is how they were raised and, therefore, how they handled things. Great interview with Robin. He was a legend, just like his brothers. RIP, Robin, Andy, Maurice and Michael.
@@afreakaboucher1316 I'm thinking because of his chatting .. nanny goats are always.. making noise.. it wasn't mean to Robin.. like he was always on stage.. I think he was practicing, at interviews he was always was cracking jokes.. k

I think Maurice looks like Mr.Gibb as well, the only different part is their jaws, Robin has their dad’s jaw line and nose, Maurice has his eyes and nose, as for Barry and Andy it’s about 50/50, given the fact how similar they look

Robin was very nice in this interview concerning his dad. However, research the true relationship. Robin's father wasn't very encouraging and nice to him.

The strangest Hugh/Robin interlude was when Robin quit the Bee Gees in 1969 at age 19 and Hugh petitioned to have him made a ward of the Court, citing reasons that in every instance were more applicable to Maurice, quite obviously the exact same age. Hugh made no such effort with him, though, so it's hard not to see the whole thing as an attempt at punishment for Robin's transgressions as Hugh viewed them. "He can never do it" Robin said at the time, and indeed he couldn't. I only saw Robin asked once about it in later years and all he could do was shake his head and say "I still don't know what that was about" or words to that effect. He was an intelligent man and I expect he knew a good deal what it was about but would never trash his parents.
I could listen to Robin talk and talk without getting in the least bit bored. Such an interesting guy!

I agree------but Robin also once said, he thought his Dad kinda lived thru them (the BeeGees) since his Dad never had great success at anything.
Robin's parents really set a good example for what a strong family looks like.

Robin is the brother who looked more like his dad.
