  • Last taxed in 1996 this Mk3 Capri 1600 LS was covered over and left on a driveway for 18 years. It came to us last October for a full restoration. All the mechanics and cosmetics have been overhauled. The shell itself has had numerous rust repairs. All the electrics have been tested and and repaired and of course the paint has been redone. Many many hours of work have gone into this one.

From the mid 70s to the late 80s i had 5 capris in total and just loved them. I must say you have done that capri proud. Beautiful car.

You've done a fantastic job on that 1.6 LS. My 1600 laser will look this good one day I'm saving up to have the work done and sourcing the panel's needed at the moment. It needs tidying up as the car has always been on the road and used a lot and is looking tired now. It's still got all its original panels and paintwork. I've never seen those wheels on a LS before the centre caps are original but you usually find them put on steel wheels on the LS model. Glacier blue is a lovely colour that stands out, I've not seen meny in that colour. Keep up the good work. :)

The wheels are off a Mk5 Cortina gives a modern look to the car, rather than the 12spokes or X's.

@@robertwillis4061 your right I can't believe I didn't see it being such a huge ford fan there the mk5 cortina Ghia alloys a friend's got a Crystal green mk5 Ghia with those on as well. First time I've seen them on a capri though and they suit it. The mk2 Granada has a similar designed alloy but 5 stud instead of 4.

Nice job. Had one of these new in 1983, reliable but the gearbox failed around 10000 miles and the oil pressure gauge feed pipe broke. Sold it after 3 years and 60000 miles as the rust in the drivers door mount was so bad.

  • @savetommyrobinsonfreespeec7660

Ps.. LS came in 1.6 4 speed! (Stronger gearbox) , didn’t have painted light surrounds, their own steel wheels, and no stripes.
I had a perfect one in champagne metallic back in 1987. The best car I ever had in my 20s .
Now I’m 50 so I went and bought a blue one, it’s in pretty good condition too! Has a 2.0 L 5x speed, the gearbox is bloody awful! 😂
Still love the drive, and get some good looks too. Cool work!

The Ford Capri (and especially the honed mark 3 model) was IMHO probably the most perfectly proportioned and aesthetically appealing car ever to grace our roads. (Apologies to big cat lovers!) The chequered blue/grey cloth interior was/is so plush and complements the glacier blue paint perfectly. The LS didn't originally have the spoiler but it certainly finishes the car off - as do the Ghia wheels. Nice that the original radio/cassette player is still in the car.

It has an exhaust that was supplied by the Capri Club Colin; the manifold was changed for a 4 into 1 item at the owners request & this was purchased on ebay from what I remember.

    OMG Plaid, I nearly had a man-crisis!

  • @savetommyrobinsonfreespeec7660

I wonder if there are any LS wheels out there?
I have an LS model the same colour and it too has the incorrect wheels, not that I mind!

  • @savetommyrobinsonfreespeec7660

I have one just like it! Same old rattling pinto! 😂👍🏼

They still sound rough as hell dont they. The Pinto motor was pretty crap but did its job. A lovely car though.
