Was a good watch. A few things I recommend:
1. No name tags.
2. Equipment to battle only the mobs that spawn.
3. There shouldn't be obsidian.
4. Everything is mineable. That means they can break traps too.
5. Attackers can use any items that the defenders drop.

They should do some sort of murder mystery Let's Play for Minecraft.
They turn off names and randomly skins so no one knows who's who. One person is the murderer and has to kill each player in the mansion (use lava or flint and steel) and the others have to figure out who it is.

Agreed, it's a little OP for the defense.
Right? I feel like it was more unfair BECAUSE the name tags were on. It would be more even if everyones name tags had been off.

This was horribly one sided.
1. The attackers weren't given any armor (which invaders would normaly have for protection)
2. They weren't given a weapon (pickaxes aren't weapons. They're mining tools. They also can't get crits. They do the same damage, but it still isn't balanced.)
3. The attackers weren't given enough supplies, leading to their doom two-thirds of the way through.
4. The name tags pretty much give the defenders x-ray vision, seeing where the attackers are comming from. That's not a problem for the defenders, because they always stay in one place. (And crouching limits the attackers manuverability and speed.)
5. The defenders were "Puppy guarding," a common term in elementary when playing capture the flag. This problem wouldn't even be that bad if the game was more balanced.
And I'm not saying these things just to defend the Lads loss. I would have the same problems if the Gents were the ones storming the tower.
Most likely they are going to discuss this later and try to fix out the kinks so it isnt as one sided. Even CTT had some problems at first. Hopefully the next time it comes around it will be more balanced
It's kind of the point for the tower to be advantageous if you think about it in an actual battle.
escapestring I can't disagree with you entirely, but considering it isn't a real battle, and is in fact a competitive game battle, balance is important. Not necessarily completely-even-balance, but keeping it within a reasonable difficulty level for the attackers. As it was for this video, the difficulty bordered on nigh impossible after the first few runs.

That was pretty big time BS. The nametags gave away locations, and the Gents had both swords and armor and the Lads ran out of supplies. Not to mention the overkill of defenses. That game was impossible to win.
Nah, if they planned carfully around it and actually tooka some time to crdinate and take out strategic things then they coulda won.

I think they gave the Lads only pickaxes because they think a diamond pickax is a as strong as an iron sword, when an iron sword as stronger.
Honestly the swords made no difference since the lads also had dia pickaxes which deal the same damage. The base was pretty hard but if I were them I would take the blaze spawn eggs out and put them where the gents were at the top and got all three of us up there so they would have to deal with us and blazes. Probably would be able to get 2 pieces of the tower if we were lucky from thatm

Yeah man the gents made this lets play shitty by being OP as fuck. The only fun part was when Gavin got squashed by an anvil but the rest was so damn frustrating to watch. I hope that it's even harder for the gents when they have to take the tower.
at the very least in an attack like this, the attackers should have better weapons. But anyway, Geoff said the attackers weren't allowed to intentionally break any of the circuits or dispensers in the tower. But he never said anything about looting them. I would have taken a bunch of those Blaze eggs and started chucking them up onto the roof. Let the defenders deal with those
You cant chuck spawn eggs. But it would still be a good idea.
The only problem with that is that now you have a bunch of blazes around the tower of pimps that you're trying to retrieve.
i think they should have turned off their gamer-tags so they wouldn't show up. and remove themselves off the map to make it way more tough

B. He had to kill Gavin.

The Lads could have won in the first 12 Minutes, no-one noticed Michael reach the top until he punched Jack off, if he just silently mined the tower they'd of won it there and then.

Instead of just complaining about how unbalanced it is, I am going to be constructive and actually give a method to balance it out. The armor the defenders wear is to much of an advantage, making them able to win any fight 1v1 (as long as they dont such). How about no armor or evening out the amount of armor for both teams. Usually I dont ask this but pls like this so they can see and make Storm The Tower X better.
i think turning off names would help a lot.

if they ever have a rematch this should happen:
1. The lads should get more pickaxes and vines, some kind of sword, and some kind of armor.
2. The gents shouldn't put as many mobs in the tower.
3. The lads should be able to go all the way around the tower.
This was probably recorded around 2 weeks ago and the second part right after. I agree this let's play was a little unfair but there's is nothing we as an audience can do to stop the next post from being bland.

That was not fair! The gents were just camping like so:
1. Jack was guarding the tower 1 block away for 3/4 of the lets play
2. Geoff by the only way up to the tower
3. All of them just standing over someone.
The main unfair ness of the video:
1. Lads don't have armour but the gents do. Should be the other ways round.
2. Gents had more bows and arrows than the lads
3. Gents had more food than the lads
4. The camping
5. Gents getting someone else to make the tower.
6. Lads had too little pickaxes.
7. Traps too OP to have a fair fight.
8. The gents had too many defences.
9. The house for the people storming the tower is too far away.
The only way the lads could have got the tower would be if all the gents just stood still! I like the minecraft let's plays they do but they must of thought this would be as popular as CTT or CTTX. But it is not. The first AH minecraft let's play I don't like.

About the camping... They're defending a structure. What else could they possibly do? And what do you mean by "gents getting someone else to build the tower"? It's just more fair, since they don't know all that's inside it.
No gents should have armour, but its unrealistic to have no armour for an attacking faction.

The commentary was very entertaining but just like with Geoffs tower, the game was stacked heavily in the defending teams favor. It would be more fun if Jack wasnt just camping near the tower. Every time someone managed to get up there, Jack would tattle. Plus Lads cant break the spawners but Gents can rebuild the towers. No weapons, no armor and no knowledge of the tower. Im amazed they even managed to get one quite frankly. Gents probably won't fare any better.
One way to even this out a little would be to make the fortress wider but single story. Take gravity out of the equation and it should even up considerably I think.
The "x" version of this should have 2 towers, where lads and gents must play offense and defense at the same time. That would add more strategy to the game.

I love when they put a lot of effort into the Minecraft Let's Plays like this. Its beautiful. I'm surprised they didn't just mine the bottom and then build a staircase all the way to the top guns blazing.
They said they couldn't just build up like that - I believe they either had to use vines or go through the inside of the tower.

It probably would have been easier for the gents (not that they needed it to be easier) if the lads built straight up, because then the gents could easily pick them off with bows and arrows. Just like when Geoff stole the tower of pimps, they would build up just to get bunced back down.

I love the concept and design of this Let's Play. However, for a more authentic and tense experience, I think it should be played with name-tags off as well as allow the attackers to destroy the inner machinery. Otherwise it's too easy to defend when you know where they are before they are even halfway up the tower. And then on the inner approach, they aren't able to ever go back through after the first rush.

Cool Let's Play this week guys! The first 20 minutes of watching Michael, Gavin, and Ray storm the tower was awesome. The traps that were built into the tower were extremely innovative. I bet Matt and Jeremy made themselves sick building something so complex. Then again they've built things more grandiose so maybe this was more of a cakewalk. All the same hats off to them! They've earned their place as members of Roosterteeth.
I don't think the tower is unconquerable. It's difficult but doable. The lads ended up exhausting all of their supplies and kept using the same tricks and pathways over and over again. The Gents caught on to all their tactics and adapted to their advances.
It's unfair to grumble about Jack staying up top and guarding the tower. Especially when the mission is to defend the tower. Of course someone is going to need to be watching the tower like a hawk. Jack did his job and he did it well. Jack is dependable.
Finally, this first episode of Storm the Tower was basically a test run. The lads had no idea what they would be going up against and didn't have the preparations for a tactical assault. So basically they had to throw their bodies at the tower and see what the tower had to offer. The results were hilarious! The gents should be a bit more prepared and I'm interested to see if they can succeed. I have a feeling that Ryan will come up with something pretty crafty to tackle the tower.
Though it was unbalanced, this Let's Play was super funny. As someone who's been a fan long before MineCraft started, this is one of my favorites. Super funny.
I want to see how the second part is going to be like. The gents are obviously the more strategic of all.

So, next time Gavin will without a doubt:
- Drop an anvil on himself.
- Drop an anvil on Michael and/or Ray.
- Set off most traps in the tower by himself.
- Get killed by Blaze and Zombies.
- Use water in a way that gives the Gents an advantage.
- Die at least 5 times when one of the Gents are on the top of the tower stealing blocks.
- Be so stupid as to let the Gents steal the Tower of Pimps without any problems.
- Make Michael rage.
- Get kicked off Team Lads (again).
- Make weird noises.
- Get violated by Ryan.
I'm going to make this into a tally chart because most of these things will happen more than once.

I've pretty much lost faith in this community for showing me just how mean they are to the AH crew. I say to keep doing the great FREE videos that drains most of your day just to make us happy even if there's small errors here and there. The AH crew are some of the best youtubers imo because they always put a smile on my face :)

We may not be the ones giving them money, but we watch (or are supposed to watch) ads. And the advertisers are the ones paying the bills.
Watching this for a second time and I do like the idea behind the Let's Play, the teams are just really unbalanced. Giving armour to the Attackers would have also made this slightly more fair, even if it wasn't as good as chain. Name tags should have been turned off to avoid the Defenders from being able to prevent Attackers from climbing up and scaling the outerwall. Overall though, the concept behind this was good, the execution, not so much. Would be interesting to see a second version to this Let's Play, just tweaked so that the Attackers aren't doomed from the start. I don't mind advantages, just not too the point where they don't stand much chance of winning.
plus the people who made the tower have a EXTREME advantage, as does the team that goes second.
Unbalanced gameplay is a staple if Geoff is gonna play. :D

Is it possible to turn only certain peoples names off over their heads? If so, they should turn the names off for those teams storming the tower, thus making it more challenging for the people defending and making it easier for the stormers to get in stealthily

Just because all the angry people leave all the comments doesn't mean nobody enjoyed it. I'm seeing like 100 negative comments, while the video has over 800k views at the moment, with over 18k likes. Besides, if you dig a little deeper, you find tons of positive comments too.

Feel bad for the lads to play this. What's the point of a PvP match where one side can kill the other side but not the other way around? I get one should be more powerful than the other.. but like.. give the attackers some chain armor and an iron sword and make the defenders have iron armor or something. That alone would've made this more entertaining because fights wouldn't be always won by the defender. Even heard Michael say at the end there that it sucks that they can't fight them at all. An iron sword against no armor is death in 2 ish blows. That's not fun for anyone.

I was thinking the same thing. But to be fair if Gavin Communicated to his team that he made a successful way to the top (his staircase up the side) then maybe they could have all charged in together and had more success. Still fun to watch, not boring like others suggested. Another idea, but maybe the lads could have moved the beds. idk.

SpartanFishy well it wasn't supposed to be easy, and it they actually worked together they could have easily won, maybe not immediately but they would have had a better chance than just running and failing every time they try the same thing over and over again. look at Michael he was able to steal one when the gents were distracted.

A bit of a message to those complaining about this episode, do you think you're the only one that noticed it wasn't great? They know when they make videos that aren't the best, and they definitely know that this was unfair and unbalanced, but they were already balls deep in recording it, plus the time it would have taken to make it, it would have been crazy not to make and release the video. The only thing that's going to happen, is they're going to have a chat afterwards and hopefully redo it with altered defenses or buffed attacks.
If you think a video was rubbish, chances are they already know you're going to think it's rubbish. Just watch the video and hope for some funny one liners or something.

Not really. I can condone constructive criticism, but a lot of these posts are acting like they're the only ones that noticed this video wasn't great... Like they need to post otherwise no one will realise that what they just watched wasn't the best AH video ever made.
This video wasn't great, and it was frustrating to watch, I'm sure they know that and I'd hope they're going to redo it with the required alterations. 100% positivity is cancer, we need to know our faults, that way we can better ourselves, but the majority of comments on this video are cancer themselves. I guess you two are the kinds of people that don't like being criticised for criticising.
Actually you're wrong on this bit "the time it would have taken to make it, it would have been crazy not to make and release the video." They've said multiple times before if there was a video that was bad they just didn't release it, granted they have to balance keeping a time schedule and making good content so sometimes they have to settle (I.E like this, not saying it's all bad, was a great idea with just 1 or 2 small things that ended up making a big difference in a negative way, but we still got an hour of listening to these guys.) and other times I imagine things went to badly they release it just because it was funny how bad it was (I.E eye-spy and creeper soccer) also I think an all over negative reaction would be better then no reaction.
An example of this would be if lets say you started to sell lemonade, and all people did was come up, buy a cup and walk away giving you no feedback on it, well you sold a few so it must be fine right? so with no reason to change you keep doing what you are doing, but within a week after a steady decline in your customers you now have none, what do you change? the price? the mixture? is it to sweet? to sour? you don't know because no one gave you any feed back. While granted just saying 'this sucks' is not a very direct feedback it at least tells you something is wrong more immediately then a steady decline.

A bunch of people are complaining about this video, as this fan base always seems to complain about every little detail, but I personally found this Let's Play fun and entertaining. I also thought it was a pretty creative idea. My only objection is that the gents did have a bit of the upper hand, but if the lads just got a few more supplies and turned off their names, that would be solved. Still, great let's play, regardless of the difficulty.

I really liked this Let's Play. I don't understand why there are as many dislikes as there are. Sure it was unbalanced, but it was still really fun to watch and to imagine all of the work that went into this. I don't feel like it has to be balanced, we're watching a full on competitive match, we're watching the Achievement Hunters fuck around in Minecraft. I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be unbalanced, they're trying to storm a fully defended tower, they're not playing a fucking match of Counter Strike.
The only complaint I have is that they should lower the amount of mobs, definitely would make the game run better, especially on the aged hardware that is the Xbox 360.
I guess there are just too many butthurt people out there who only want to see the Lads win.

I just want to come down to the comments of a Minecraft Let's Play for once and not see every comment be a complaint/argument about the video, or one of the crewmembers, or about people complaining about those things.
It was fun to watch if a bit long and unfair. Honestly if they removed the chainmail armour it would be alot more balanced because the attackers could win a 1v1 fight with the defenders that way. Really loved the TNT explosions on the ground and the rain of arrows and the ruins, made it feel and look like a real battlefield. Blazes are OP pls remove.
if they gave the attackers swords and made the mob rooms less ludicrous it would have been perfect

To be honest they should have made larger penalties for the defenders dying, i.e. A lesser armor or lesser weapons. Or make the spawn point farther away seems a little unfair that the defenders can respond right next to the point they have to defend
Or make the attackers outnumber the defenders so that it's possible to overwhelm them
but the team you think is overpowered lost so your hypothesis really wouldn't make this letsplay anymore relevant

Great one guys! Great concept. Wish it was more leveled though in the sense that you can't see them coming. Might have made the match more closer. However, tactics is king and they only started utilizing it towards the end.
im hoping for a few lets plays of tis. after the gents have to storm, modify stuff and try again. maybe put a smaller timer and make it easier, so it can be 2 matches in 1 hour

Achievement City History:
The Great Siege of Achievement Hunter Tower-
The Lad Order has prepared their soldiers, consist of Grand Poobah Ray,Mogar the Invincible and Gavin. The Gent Knights, upon seeing the enemy, sounded the alarm and prepared their armaments and anti-siege weapons. The defence was led by Sir Geoff of Cornhole, Ryanus Maximus, and Jack the Knightly Beard.
Day 1
The Lad Order fired a fury of arrows at the tower, and the Gent Knights returned fire. Using zig-zagging techniques, the Gent Order charged towards the tower, only to discover that the Gent Knights have prepared land mines in the burnt-down village. The Gent Knights, noticing their confusion, fired a wall of arrows, enough to block out the sun. The Lads reached the safety of the tower's walls. The Gent Knights, noticing the Lad order's relief, demonstrated the tower's anti-siege power. Bricks moved outwards to push the Lads' scaling vines. Boiling water rushed down the walls with enough force to bring a giant to its knees. Grand Poobah Ray, devised a unique and different strategy; to break through the wall and ascend the tower. Once inside, Ray charged towards the tower, pickaxe in hand, thirsty for blood. He stopped dead in his tracks when he noticed the preparation of the Gent Knights. The Knights have gathered the most vile creatures from the deepest depths of Hell and convinced them to fight for the Gent Knights.
Day 2
As the battle raged on, Grand Poobah Ray and Gavin managed to sneak past the seemingly endless waves of monsters and reached the final level of the tower. Confident in their abilities, Ray and Gavin climb up the ladder, only to be stopped by Sir Geoff of Cornhole's ambush. Panicking, Ray ushered Gavin to descend the ladder. Gavin, confused as always, ascended the ladder and pushed Ray up the ladder, bringing them both to their impending doom.
Day 17
The assaults has lasted for days, the Lad Order's assault captains have seperated, each using their own strategies. Gavin carved crevices into the tower's mighty walls and climbed up to the roof. As Gavin broke through the final brick of the roof, the Knights have noticed his plan and cut him down on the spot. Gavin took note of one, of his several failures, and improved the plan, adding stealth to it. Gavin, once again, scaled the wall, once at the top he spotted the smug faces of Ryanus Maximus and Jack the Knightly Beard as they unleashed their latest anti-siege weapon, the Anvil of Gravity.
Mogar the Invincible dug a secret tunnel to surprise the Gents and waited for the perfect time to strike. Hearing Gavin's horrible death wail, Mogar seized the opportunity and charged towards the sacred relic, the Tower of Pimps. Ryanus Maximus spotted the intruder and raised the alarm. Mogar managed to take a piece of the sacred relic, but unable to escape safely, he leapt off the side of the tower, taking the piece of the Tower with him. Both the Gent Knights and Lad Order noticed this sacrifice and both armies rushed to retrieve the piece of Tower before the other does. The Lads and Gents sprinted as fast as their feet could take them, determined to have it take it for their faction. The Lads managed to take the piece of Tower and erect it on their sacred podium, proving to Mogar the Invincible that his sacrifice was not for vain.
Day 107
The siege has taken a toll on the Lad Order. The vines became depleted, food scarce and supplies low. Grand Poobah Ray desperately clawed at the ceilings in the tower, hoping to cause his enemies to fall. Mogar the Invincible went berserk at their ongoing failures and threw himself at Gents with his pickaxe and bare hands. Gavin ran around the fields, seeking redemption from the storm, praying for a charged creeper. The Gent Knights were sure of their victory, The legendary Mogar the Invincible and Grand Poobah Ray stuck near unable to advance on the final stage of the tower. But the Lads, unwilling to accept defeat, mounted one final assault on the Gent Knights, with whatever they had left. The Gents and Lads clashed for the final time. Swords and pickaxes clashed, arrows flew through the air, and fist met faces. But at the end, the combined strength of the grand Poobah, Ray, Mogar the Invincible and Gavin could not withstand the training and tactics of the Gent Knights. But the Lad Order had one thing to show for their determinedness, one piece of the sacred Tower of Pimps. The Gent Knights claimed victory with their three, and with hands covered with bloodied chain-mail, they lifted their swords in the sky with pride.

This was pretty much a foregone conclusion. The Gents would have to completely shit the bed to NOT win this one.
They had advantage in terrain, fortification, materials, weapons, and armor, along with numerical parity with the attackers.
I mean it's a team game type so they don't actually win the tower.
I think their biggest advantage was that they could see their names and keep track of them.
I mean they could have and eventually did crouch, I mean if they turned names off they might have won like really quickly which is kinda bullshit.

This is one-sided in a way that makes it frustrating to watch. Simply the armour/weaponry factor was the decisive prejudice in this case. I don't even know if seeing the Gents fail in the same ways next week would even be satisfying.

People don't seem to understand that if your trying to storm a castle, ITS GOING TO BE FUCKING HARD. It's not meant for you to just walk in and kill everyone and steal the treasure.
im pretty sure theres a difference between hard and impossible though, hard, its fun to watch the struggle of doing it, impossible is just boring, because you know the outcome before hand.
That was not even close to impossible. The lads simply made it impossible from uncoordinated teamwork.

a real bear Wasn't impossible. Michael and Ray killed Geoff (or Ryan) together and while Ray died (or Michael) if they actually coordinated they would have been able to kill Ryan( or Geoff) too.
They just did there own thing with Ray repeatedly going in through the Blaze chamber, Gavin scaling the tower, Michael switching them, they were a mess. Gavin and Michael could have gotten the tower at the end but they didn't know what was happening and botched it.
Yes it is impossible since for attack and defend you need a 3 to 1 ratio of attackers to defenders its simple tactics
The people attacking should be the ones getting armour and swords not the people defending. The people defending already have a massive tower with defences everywhere they don't need better armour and weapons as well.
