    I absolutely love your videos and the way you break down ingredients, experience, prices, pros, and cons of products. I appreciate your personal viewpoint and that you frequently remind us that your skin is not our skin and that you still try, review, and recommend products that are not likely to work for your skin type but may work for someone else and point out the difference between a good product that's just not for you, and a not so good product. When I started my skincare journey I was only following people who had oily skin - because that's what I thought I had, but after stumbling across one of your videos where you talked about the difference in skin type vs skin concern (like you did in this video) you literally changed my life!!! I started trying more hydrating ingredients and discovered that with the right care, my skin is actually combination and that by treating it correctly, I am no longer an oil slick by the end of the day!!! I came to find this video in particular because I ordered the Torriden Solid In Essence a while back after suffering from a damaged barrier, and I wanted to see what you had to say about it. I'd been finding that it was just too heavy to use in my essence step and had been putting it after my serums, and was gratified to see that you felt the same way about it. This has become one of my favorite products, and I actually use it as a blend of serum/light moisturizer to go before my Tretinoin step. Thank you so much for offering quality skin care content and making it fun - sharing your sense of humour, your stories, and bits of your life with us along with excellent product recommendations! You have quickly become one of my favorite content creators and I genuinely get excited when I get a notification for a new video from you! Please never stop being you!!!

      Shouldn't "easy spreading" only be a problem with mineral sunscreens?
      Every chemical one I've tried was easy to...maneuver, i.e. work with.
      I'm a bit confused, but that may well be only my problem....🤷🏻‍♀️

    Thank you Alice! That was so helpful! I'm new to K-Beauty (2 months in) and tried Torriden's Balanceful Serum sheet mask yesterday and was BLOWN AWAY by how soothing, cooling, and hydrating it was. Instant glow-up. I was looking into buying more of that line, but upon seeing the ingredients list with rosemary oil and LHA, I think I will hold off until 1-2 years later in case of possible pregnancy next year. Those ingredients are PROBABLY ok topically, but you know, just in case. Thank you so much for this review! I was also thinking of how bland the ingredients were when I picked up the masks and wasn't expecting much like you! I am so glad to be wrong!

    I used dive in serum long ago & used something else after. Recently, my skin became v sensitised after using medicube pore pad so I needed something simple to calm things down. I went back to torriden, using the cica range serum and cream this time. Interesting thing is that it wasn't too impressive but towards finishing the bottles, my skin had become much calmer so it does work slowly. It gives me the feeling that it works slowly and doesn't feel too complex. For sheet mask, cica one was strangely not a fav but I love the dive in sheet mask. Also tried dive in soothing cream but it was too light for my over 40 combi skin. I use it as a first layer moisturiser now. The dive in cream is slightly better. The dive in multipad was again a surprise. I used the dive in range so well and it felt so gentle so I was surprised that the multi pad irritated me. Looked up and realised it has willow bark which is a no no for me.

    This brand is really popular in Japan when I was there, especially the dive in toner and cream. I have dry skin so the yellow solid in ceramide line interests me the most, but ingredients wise it is very simple just focusing on hydration rather than strong actives. I plan on getting the solid in cream, and maybe the dive in toner and sunscreen.

    That Solid In line looks tempting tbh. I admit I have a weird relationship with serums. I get really annoyed fussing with the dropper bottles, so I don't really use serums if they come in droppers. The idea of a big barrier serum that doesn't come in a dropper is very appealing. I also do love a good rich barrier cream.

    Uhhh.. great gowns, beautiful gowns LMAO if you know you know!! Been waiting for this review and think your insights on HA with this brand are so accurate! Their textures are so unique, especially for a brand so focused on hydration. And as the other commenter mentioned -they did release a chemical sunscreen (with a novel Cosmax formulation -to me at least lol!) I just haven’t opened it yet to officially try! Balanceful line is a holy grail for me for the same calming reasons! Started with the toner pad and the rest is history! Hi! I have the dive in line and I enjoy it greatly!
    One thing that seems orquestated by the gods of chaos is that this morning I saw a CZcams video by Odile Monod and she described as corean industry previous to enter western culture, they didn't place much importance in the difference in texture so for example there was no difference at all between am essence, a toner and a serum, it was interchangeable. And it's now that they have had to accommodate the views of western expectations and begin to diferentiate between products.
    Sorry for any mistakes with my English, I am able to understand it but it's far more difficult for me to express myself in it!
    By the way, I love your channel, Alice! ❤

    I just purchased the entire dive in line and the solid in lip serum...it's all fabulous. Also, the dive in serum, as lightweight as it is, contains all of the skin barrier building blocks..Ceramides, fatty acids, AND cholesterol. It is usually difficult to find all 3 of those (especially cholesterol) in such a lightweight serum 💙💙💙 I have SO MUCH SKINCARE to get through, but I use the serum everyday just to get all of those skin barrier building blocks:) EDIT: I do think that they didn't market this correctly only highlighting the hyaluronic acid..as opposed to all of the other amazing ingredients.

      Essential oils and extracts are related but also quite different. Think of an essential oil as a very concentrated form of a plant, and an extract as a very diluted form of a plant (generally although potency can vary)
      So it is very true that those with allergies still need to be wary of those ingredients. However, more people will be able to use extracts. Hope that helps!

    Great reviews, thanks!...I have a question. I'm using a vitamin C from FaceTheory. It's a bit oily and I wonder, If I put it on first, will
    the oiliness make it hard for other serums to pass through Or should/can I use it on top of other serums, before sunscreen and
    moisturizer if needed? I know some say it should be the first product on during the day. Thanks much

    • @misskiwi5460
      @misskiwi5460 Před rokem +1

      I think ot would depend on what product you want to aplly first. If it's a low ph toner i don't see a problem but you should always apply ascorbic acid serums to dry skin to avoid incresing the ph of the product (ascorbic acid needs a low ph to work and does not super well which is why it is often recommended you start with it)
      I checked up on facetheory and it uses one of the vitamin c derivatives: , 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid. Which is not ph dependent (alice made a video about vitamin c and the derivatives if you are curious)
      Because is an oil- and watersoluble derivative so as long as you don't use something heavier on top like a creamy milky essence/toner or moisturizer i think it should have a good chance of absorbing. Also if you dislike the greasiness but like the product you could try asking on r/asianbeauty or r/skincareaddiction for a lightweight oily skin friendly vitamin c serum that uses , '3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid'.
      Hope that helps 😁
      I would also like a video about what order alice uses products in though. And what order she would use products in f you aren't sensitive to actives. (like if you want an am pm routine where you just use all your actives and you don't need to cycle from day to day between brigtening restoring etc. Do you use chemical exfoliant in the morning with vitamin c or at night before retenoid? 🤷‍♀️)

    • @misskiwi5460
      @misskiwi5460 Před rokem

      I wrote that the derivatives is not ph depending it is and works best between a ph of 5-6.5. What i meant was it doesnt require a super low ph like ascorbic acid so it is easier to layer.

      @janesmitson7404 Před 11 měsíci

      @@misskiwi5460 THanks for your kind response, but i'm confused are you saying that ascorbic acid should be applied to a low ph surface? Isn't dry skin around 5.5 ph?

    • @misskiwi5460
      @misskiwi5460 Před 11 měsíci

      @@janesmitson7404 no that's not what i meant, i think i phrased it in a confusing way. The serums containing ascorbic acid most frequently have a low ph to ensure they penetrate well. However when you apply it ontop of another product lets say a cica serum that has not had time to absorb yet, you are essentially mixing the cica serum and the ascorbic acid serum. Since the cica serum doesnt need a low ph to work it likely has a higher ph than the ascorbic acid serum. This means you are essentially mixing a lower ph serum with a higher one and thus increasing the ph of the ascorbic acid mixture. So best practice with ascorbic acid is to use early in a routine since it penetrates poorly and allowing it to absorb before applying your next step. Likewise if you add a toner before the ascorbic acid serum you should let it fully dry down first.
      Just to be clear the one you use is not ascorbic acid but a derivative so you are more free to do what you like.
      Also if the ascorbic acid serum somehow gets mixed with another product on your skin it's not like it's ruined it will just likely be less affective which might be good if you are more sensitive and are trying to incorporate it into your routine etc. Skincare is hugely trial and error and mostly rule of thumbs. There aren't really a lot of super strict rules for the most part. However a rule for vitamin c: don't mix benzoyl peroxide and vitamin c they make eachother ineffective. Vitamin c is an anti-oxidant and benzoyl perodxide works by oxidizing and killing acne bacteria so they work against eachother (if you want both types of product then use in different routines like vit c in the morning and benzoyl peroxide at night. Not sure how it is if the benzoyl peroxide is a cleanser instead of a leave-on though. I can't use benzoyl peroxide so i forgot) I hope i didn't overwhelm you. For your product just use it before you start using creamy products. Go from lightweight to heavy with skincare and just try a different order if you don't like your current one. If your result are worse then change back. You can also visit r/skincareaddiction they can usually help troubleshoot a routine if it doesnt do what you want it to or you are unsure about the order. Just keep in mind some of the redfitors know alot about skincare and some are just starting out. (the once that have the least nuanced opinions are usually the ones that somewhat recently got into skincare).

      @@misskiwi5460 Thank You!! for taking the time to explain to me regarding the ph of products. I really appreciate the time you took to reply and explain. I try to take time between layers to let the products absorb, and then I read it's best to apply products on slightly damp skin for penetration. It usually feels slightly moist from the products even if I wait for products to absorb and even though my skin is on the dry side, I often don't use moisturizer if I'm using a cream based sunscreen. and it I use the Dr. Ceuracle Kombucha Tea Essence it's so wonderful and moisturizing I often feel I don't need a moisturizer. But at night I wear a good one and often apply an occlusive on top. So since my current vit. c serum is with Ethyl Ascorbic Acid and is on the oily side, I can apply after my Benton Fermentation essence which is like water. This is the first time I'm not using an Ascorbic Acid C, so we'll see. I also keep it in the fridge but don't know if that's really necessary. Thanks so much again for all you help.
