Hey Jeff, so I have another video about how to find your niche - that could be helpful. But, what I usually say is that choose either something you're super passionate about or you're an expert on. So you'll stay motivated. Or if you're creating it solely for business then maybe something with a high traffic volume.
Oh I'm so with you on that, JC. At 1 point, I owned about 18 different domain names. Simply because I got a great idea for a website and blog, but shiny object syndrome kicked in and bought into another idea. And then another and by doing this, you get nowhere closer to your goal. If you're multi-passionate, just 1 or 2 topics and start a blog on each one. Then you can apply the 80-20 rule. 80% of your time and effort, you put into website 1 and 20% on the second one. This way, when you get bored or almost burn out from your first topic, you can spend some time on your 2nd site.
Hi Katie, may I ask why you put the year in your website link? It would be better to set your permalinks to just the name of your post. Because when I was reading your article and noticed the 2021 in the link, it made me think right away that it was old content.
You're 100% right. My website is very old and when I started I had no idea about permalink structure so right now it is what it is - but in the future when I have the funds to redirect all the pages and change it - that would for sure be beneficial.
@@KatieGrazer no problem, just wanted to point it out. By the way, you can set up 301 redirects for those pages. You might lose a bit of traffic for a little while,. but it will come back once Google went through those.

When I did this it was a different set up and automatically started setting up WP. It also didn't give me the option to choose the look of the site. Any advice?

Hey Jas, as I mention in the video, I truly believe that the best way is to have a self-hosted website. I don't think you can self host your Wix site, that's why really recommend WordPress.org.
Hi Ida, Bluehost changed their plans last year. But if you're just using it for 1 site, 10 GB SSD is more than enough. But I would recommend buying your domain name separately with a company like Namecheap for example. Mainly because you don't want to get stuck with 1 company. And if you have both your hosting and domain with Bluehost, they hold all the cards if that makes sense. And another important thing to keep in mind is that the discount you're getting with Bluehost is only valid for your first contract. So if you sign up for 1 year for example, after that year, you're going to pay the full price. Just something to keep in mind. Chris

That's really hard to say and differs for everyone. I believe you can start earning morning from your blog even in the first few months. But you need to keep at it. Be consistent, analyze what's working for you and give your audience what they want. Then there's nothing in your way of turning this into a business.
