I don't hike-and I don't even know what bushcraft means-but I watched this whole video because I just find this man's calm, thoughtful enthusiasm for his pants both soothing and infectious. Surprised but delighted that the algorithm brought me here. 10 out of 10. I wish this guy the best of success in all his pants-reviewing endeavors.

Got them a couple weeks ago and took them on a 25 mile mountain trek with a good part of it off trail. They were fantastic. At one point they were dripping wet and in 20 minutes they were dry again. Super comfortable and the double fabric knees do a great job at keeping your knees dry when keeling on damp ground

to double down on that, an intense outdoorsman myself, Fjällräven is the brand to go to. Their patented materials, like the G1000 (65% poly, 35% cotton) are legit rugged and all my items from them hold till this day, some of them are 10 years+ in use. Can I speak for all of their products? Of course I don't own all products, but can speak for some of their pants, Jackets, insulators, shirts and caps. They even have a so called "Numbers Series", which are hands down high tier premium garments with very high durability. (Note: they are an Outdoor brand. Hiking, bush crafting, camping is what they target. So don't confuse their stuff with ultra rugged, heavy workwear.)

I am a land surveyor and wear these pants outdoors every day in the course of my job. I'm busting brush and generally being hard on them all the time. I love these pants, BUT there are issues. My oldest pair is about four years old While the fabric is nice and very tough, it is thin and does nothing to protect you from thorny things, etc. (that is not a dis at at all, just a so you know.) Although tough, they have noticeable color fade after many days in the sun. No worries there though, I think it looks great. I have cut a couple of them with saws and the fabric cuts DO NOT RUN - Very good! Pocket placement is OK, but meh. I do like the big pockets thigh-forward, much more comfortable than straight-thigh. The big downfall on these pants is the fly zippers. They suck horribly. Every single pair I have has fly-failed. I noted this on the very first pair i owned and wondered... The teeny non-self-healing zippers on the Fjallravens are just stupid. BUY THESE PANTS!!!, But get with your seamstress to install real YKK zippers immediately. Then I think You'll be happy.

@@WoyLad Ah OK, now I get it, you're an American, you should have said earlier - short legs, bulging belly and a enormous butt puts a lot on stress and strain on a standard Japanese zip. I've not had an issue with Fjallraven, but then again I don't weigh 300lbs.

  • @MasterChief-sl9ro
    @MasterChief-sl9ro Před 4 lety +1

These things are tough. The only problem i found. You load them pockets up with 10lb of stuff. But the stitching is very tight. So no tear outs. They take branches dragging on them pretty well over time. As well as kneeling on hard ground. I still use a ground pad for my knees. So if you work outdoors for a living. Get some.
If you look around. You can get them $100.00 US...

Great review of these pants. I feel very much the same way. I love these pants so much I got them in both black and olive and they’re my go-to pants for the outdoors. I’m 6’2” and absolutely recommend the long version especially to keep them secure on hiking boots. The regular version would likely be too short for me.

Great review, and i love my vidda pro trousers - one thing i learned was that by going up a waist size, the length also increases by almost half an inch. If, like me, the extra 2 inches is too much on the long version, that’s something else to try (I went from a 52 being a bit snug and a bit short, to a 54 regular being perfect all round. How tall you are is not the thing you would want to measure when deciding on the long version or not. People have very differnt body compositions. I am 187 cm and I think the inside of my leg is more than 90 cm, which is pretty long for that height. Some people may have a longer back and shorter legs in the same total height. They are nice pants, but I just got a Bergans one instead for about half the price and Ive been using those for 8 years. And what does God have to do with any of this?

It would be much better if it have the anatomical knees, and elastic belt. Now,
without this features its not comfortable.

great review! What about the crotch though? is it all g1000 or does it have some stretch like the abiskos?

Iknow it's late, but someone else might be reading the comments. The vidda pro are all g-1000, the vidda pro ventilated have the stretch fabric in the crotch, stick to the vidda pro if you want durability, or go abisko if you want breathability. Vidda pro ventilated is like jack of all trades master of none.

Great review. I've looked at these pants many times. Unfortunately, at 6'4" and 260 pounds - as is typical of European clothing lines - they really do not have anything to fit me. It is possible that the 60's would *maybe* fit, but at this price I'm not really willing to gamble on it. Furthermore, the Amazon link only shows the 60 size to be available in an awful red color (no, thank you).
This is why I tend to shy away from European clothing lines, as their sizing availability just doesn't consider large-framed American males.
    Nonetheless, thanks much for sharing.
    Steve

Lotus - If you saw me you would not say "fat". Rather, you'd say a man stout enough to kick your ass. But, go ahead and feed into the stereotype.

stuff you think you have problems getting them to fit. Try needing a 30 inch inseam. I guess everyone in Europe has 32 inch and longer inseam

I'm 6' 5 255 lbs and I just got mine in 37 long and they're a little snug but not uncomfortable, I could have gotten away with a 38 .. But just go with your normal pant size and you're good to go .

I'd go regular, I'm 6ft 195 lbs and bought a ''long'' And had to take them in and get about 7 inches chopped off But if you want to make 100% sure google EU sizing to American sizing
