    Don’t worry about being too apologetic for hitting someone. Most competitive players know it is a legit strategy and won’t be upset. It’s their fault for not reacting fast enough. Also, if the opponents yell right when you are about to hit it, you can call a fault on them. It is rare for people to make that call but in a tournament it is a fair call because yelling and making you miss is against the rules

    In January last year, I enrolled for the advanced tournament at Lifetime for my friend (who was the organizer). It was my second time touching the paddle, and I won the tournament pretty easily. I was a D1 lvl tennis player, and I have played the sport for about 20 years. And, I got a fun story, a good friend of mine (who I played against in college and won in a crazy match) is now N1 in America. His name is Federico Staksrud.

      @@JustSlapTenniswork on dinking. Every ball you're just slapping net high at the net person. In tennis you can counter balls that drop low over the net by being on top of the net, but if you're off the net you have to hit a more defensive volley. Same thing in pickleball except you can't get on top of the net. When you're serving you wait until your partner has a good enough dink to get to the net. (Aim for the shoelaces) If they hit a shit shot don't approach until they have to dink back. Same thing when you're both at the net, you got lucky that the people you were playing were not particularly good, but a player that can control the low shots and force you to make mistakes will kill you.
      Also, learn how to stack. It's what the 3rd guys you played were doing. It's super easy and always gets you on your preferred side so you're not fighting over middle balls based on who has a forehand.

    I play both tennis and pickleball every week, and I really love both. And to be honest, I'm tired of a lot of tennis player's superiority complex over pickle ball. The more you play, the more you understand that these are different games in the racket sport genre. Yes, pickle ball is easier to learn, but at the highest level its completely different from tennis. I actually recently bought eye protection for pickleball because kitchen blocks/volleys against kitchen smashes can be very scary and dangerous.

    • @GotHoai
      @GotHoai Před dnem

      Great attitude! I play with a lot of tennis players and they love both sports. But our area its much easier to find pickleball groups. And yeah, as you get better and play better ppl, the game totally evolves, gets much faster, more agresssive and at the same time, softer and harder. So different then tennis

    Pickleball, or in other words: don’t ace me, pass me, drop shot me, or lob me. Lifetime literally paved over all our tennis courts here for pickleball because any noob can play and overpay. @ctbsancho2516 Před 20 dny +4

      @JustSlapTennis yep. In tennis just hitting a good shot will usually win the point. In PB controlling the ball in the kitchen is key, then pulling out the tennis shot to finish the point. Tennis is beautiful chess, PB is grimey checkers! Lol

    • @LowDinksHijinxPickleball
      @LowDinksHijinxPickleball Před 13 dny +2

      @@ctbsancho2516 Actually it's the other way around. Tennis is far more about sheer athleticism, in that you can compensate for imperfect strategy by better fitness and striking the ball better than your opponent. In pickleball shot selection is more important than shot execution, so you can compensate for physical inferiority by superior strategy. That's why you often see 80 year old women punking young 20-something tennis guys who have fine mechanics but no clue how to play pickle. (well, we didn't see it in this video because those 2 ladies didn't know how to play pickleball for shit). In light of these points, pickle is more like chess.

      @LowDinksHijinxPickleball Před 9 dny

      @@Yungdil That's not even a counterargument. You're just saying "nuh uh!" Are you an expert in pickleball? Because I played both sports at a high level (Varsity #2 in singles at a D2 university in tennis, 4.5 in pickleball currently). and I can say without a doubt that strategy is a far more influential factor than sheer athletic performance in pickleball versus tennis. And it's not even close really.

  • @evannatteford1784
    @evannatteford1784 Před 4 dny

    6:49 That's a fault, you can't let your paddle touch the ground inside the kitchen after hitting a volley because otherwise you could use your paddle to help push yourself out of the kitchen. Good shot though, its high level awareness to play big on the left and take that ball. Good thing they won that point anyway. Similarly the volley you hit at 9:18 is also a fault, kitchen rule applies to your body. Not trying to be an asshole btw just trying to educate, because both faults were avoidable if you knew the extent of the rule. Also watch the serve when you are the person standing at the kitchen line at service because Alex should have called the serve at 12:45 a mile out. To finish off the guy who talked to you at the end wasn't just gassing you up, if you guys stick with it for any amount of time and learn a bit more of the strategy and finesse of pickleball yall will be a problem on court for a lot of people.
