    Thank you for reviewing this scent. I bought the au de toilette. I find it to be rather strong for my nose, but I like it. I cannot stop sniffing my wrist. Only one spritz has power. I am glad you said full bodied. This is how I would describe this scent. I knew one individual who wore Ciara and you could smell her perfume from several feet away. I do not know what concentration she wore…she is since passed away. I feel like if I wore this often enough, my car would smell like this perfume. I have heard from other reviews that the femme fatale version smells more like the original Ciara introduced in the 70s. Do you like Van Cleef more? Do you know if Ciara was discontinued? I hope not…I enjoy this scent.

      You're welcome! 😀 And, thank you so much for watching, Lynda.
      Some people consider Ciara to be "too much", but it always struck me as full and rich.
      I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your friend, but I'm glad that you've got something positive to remember her by.
      You're right about the car thing. 😁 If I wear the same scent for days in a row, my car smells like it. But, I usually wear something different each day.
      I can tell you that Femme Fatale smells *less* like the original formulation than what's out in stores right now.
      Femme Fatale has a lot of Tonka and Vanilla. It's a different animal than the other Ciaras.
      I like the smell of Van Cleef just as much, and it *is* similar, but they have their differences. If you could imagine taking out the dry woodsiness of the Rosewood and Cedar from Ciara, and replacing them with amped up amber, and the green resin of Galbanum, that's Van Cleef. 👍 I don't like either one better, I just have more Ciara because Ciara is less expensive. Hahaha!
      Ciara 100 and Ciara 80 are still in production, and this video was a review of the current formulation that you can find in stores. I'm DEFINITELY going to have to do another video for vintage Ciara, 200 strength, and Femme Fatale.
      Thank you again a million times for watching, and for writing. You're the best!

    So glad you're back!! My Ciara story goes like this: A couple of years ago my drummer (at 62...he was considerably older than the rest of my band...kinda the band grandpa)at the time knew I was into fragrances and brought up Ciara, "Oh man! You should try it if it's still around." So, not expecting much I ordered a bottle of 100...and I love it!!!! I loved it enough that I sought out a bottle of Femme Fatal. It smells really nice; of course, I think that the original smells more like an actual "femme fatal".

    • @alex_pearl
      @alex_pearl  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you! :-D Also, your drummer knows what's up. So glad he suggested it. She's (sadly) overlooked, today.
      And, I agree with you. The ORIGINAL Ciara (especially 100 strength) smells more like a femme fatale than Femme Fatale does. Haha! To me, FF smells sweeter, more mellow, and less sexy.

      Haha! Your nose is probably just fine! 😆The 80 strength has always smelled more powdery to me, and the 100 strength more tilted toward leather, but you're right in that they's very, very similar.
      And, YES! 😁 Sheba's a cool lady, I started collecting Halston fragrances because of her.

    • @alex_pearl
      @alex_pearl  Před 3 lety +1

      @@mrspress8057 There's a funny thing about the raspberry (and the orris in the 80 strength) in Ciara. If it weren't there, it'd be all heavy, woodsy, leathery, and resinous. The nip of sweetness pulls the room together. I don't typically like sweet/ fruity either, but that's not the main attraction in Ciara. It's balancing out the THICC base of the scent. ;-D

    I've used Ciara since it came out in the 1970's. My mother and I were shopping and was at a makeup counter, and a lady at the store ask if we would like to try it. Both my mother and I fell in love with it. I'm not sure which one I had tried. Over the years the sent seems to have changed and weekend. The original would last all day and into the evening. The last 10 years I have had both. While they are both a great sent I really wish I could find the original ones I use to get.

    • @alex_pearl
      @alex_pearl  Před 4 měsíci

      That's so cool! 😃
      You're right, the formula has changed a few times over the years.
      I've tried the vintage bottles, and they haven't all held up so well. I'm going to have to do a review of them.
      Even though the 1970's Ciara was smoother (the rosewood isn't as harsh in that initial spray), they don't always hold up so well with time.
      Sadly, even the ORIGINAL doesn't smell like the original, anymore. 🙁
      Probably the best, and most consistent, that I'd worn was the Ciara 100 strength that was available in stores until a short time ago.
      Revlon reformulated and relaunched Ciara again recently, and don't have the 100 or the 80 strength listed on the bottle. Now, it just says "Eau de Parfum." I haven't tried it, and I'm not sure what it's like, but the 100 strength is still good, and you can still get it for basically nothing. 👍

      Hello there! 😃 I hope that you liked the video.
      The bottle of 200 that I have is solid. The scent is just as good as vintage Ciara 100, and the projection is as good as the Ciara 100 reformulation that I reviewed in the video. 👍
      Definitely going to do a separate video about those two iterations.

    • @alex_pearl
      @alex_pearl  Před 3 lety +2

      Samsara is gorgeous. The EdP is easily one of my favorite powdery scents. And, yeah, Ciara really hasn't changed all that much. The biggest difference that I noticed between the Revlon and Charles Revson was that the newer formulation is louder (though, that may have to do with age), and that the Charles Revson formulation has a minty note. :-/ Hee hee! Thank you for staying around long enough for the Pee Wee reference. :-D

      @@alex_pearl I will never give up my Samsara although I suspect there are so few Mysore sandalwood trees in the world now solely because of 90s me. (Sorry!) Typically I abhor violence but I will trample old ladies and orphans if I even suspect I glimpsed the cap of the EdP at an estate sale. Trample. Without. Remorse. Both Ciaras are on their way to me thanks to this review! I remember the Revson branded version (because I am 112) but not so well that I’m going into this purchase with extreme bias. Ciara is an anomaly in that I've never seen another fragrance label itself with different numbered strengths. I think this was a move to make something that's usually hard to decipher more intuitive. Usually, you'd hear perfumes labeled as Extrait, Eau de Parfum, or Eau de Toilette. Charles Revson labeled Ciara 200, 100, and 80 strength, instead. :-) Same thing, more easy to understand terminology.
      The 200 strength is SUPER heavy and heady, 100 is less heavy than the 200 but still focused on leather and amber, and 80 strength is the least dense and most powdery and sweet. :-D They're all sexy, but I prefer the 200 and 100 strength.
