The mono headlight on the 2021 is actually a hell of a lot better than the old headlights at night. The old headlight style on the MTO9 was basically useless at night but the mono headlight on the 2021 actually does a pretty good job of lighting up the road in the dark.

  • @kursed13

Thanks for showing that! I did like the 2020 headlights way more but the 2021 really growing on me. I also feel like the 2021 becomes a bit cheaper and less work to get all the turn signals LED and just right. I'm just going to get a 2021 or 2022 by the time I'm ready to buy.

Tbh the mt 09 2021 feels much more up to date in comparisson with previous model. I think yamaha nailed it with this leap of faith in design.

There will always be a warm place in my heart for Yamaha. As a kid growing up in Fort Lauderdale, I spent my entire youth riding Yamaha 125 Enduro dirt bikes. So much fun. Today at 58, It's only Harley Road Kings for me. Lol.

Once they get ecu flashes and free flowing exhausts, the new one should theoretically have an advantage over the out going model.

I recently watched a 2021MT09 get run on the Dino and it had 112 hp at the wheel. I think Yamaha is being conservative with their hp numbers. If it’s doing 112whp it’s probably more like 124~125hp. That new engine even gets better gas mileage. I don’t think a lot of people realize how much this bike has been improved and almost every aspect. Yamaha knocked it out of the park with the 2021 MT09. I’ve got a 2018MT09 and I want to upgrade to the SP or the MT10 so I’m going to wait and see if they redesign the 2022 MT10 and if they don’t I’ll definitely be trading up for a 2021 MT09-SP

I have brought the 2021 MT09SP and I love it. Although I liked the Gen 2 version, I always thought the Gen 1 was better looking. They say the throttle was snatchy but I would say it had attitude and made the bike seem so much more fun.

I have the 2021 in standard black. Purely think black is more badass looking, so the Ohlins didn't sell me enough. Plus living in New Zealand with endless twisty coastal roads, cruise control would be pointless. I have ridden both 2020, 2020 SP, 2021 standard and 2021 SP, 2021 isn't as noticeable between normal and SP, they have really fixed the suspension! Go get one, plus the standard exhaust is hella loud in person under load, vids do nothing for justice! Have a bless day x
