    Spent hours on this boss fight and now I completed it thanks to your tips. Instead of those really lucky speedrunner vids and them just showing off their skill on their vids, the little details you provided really helped an average player like me complete this on Legendary. Appreciate you man

      Happy to help! Making this boss fight easier was the idea I wanted to run with while defeating Regret. This was a tough battle to conquer back in the day, even while attempting quicker speed-run strategies as you mentioned. The balcony strategy was new to me when I worked on this guide, and I found it more reliable than other strategies used in the past.

    Very helpful series, and props on both making it and for being as skilled as you are. Granted, I still died a shitload of times because it's Halo 2 on Legendary, but at least with this, I had a sense of what to expect and how to approach the various encounters.
    Surprisingly enough with this particular mission, the end fight against the Prophet was the easiest part of the level. There's copious amounts of cover, no snipers, and there weren't any Elites with plasma rifles (or if there were, I don't remember) - only swords. Combined with the plentiful amount of walking plasma pistols- I mean Grunts, all over the place, that pretty much meant the boss fight could best be summarized as "running around the room noob comboing the Honor Guards between attacks on the Prophet".

    Pretty awesome how you dealt with the snipers throughout the level. I was way too nervous, or too impatient, to be as aggressive. I haven't watched to the end yet, but I'm excited to see how you deal with the Prophet of Regret.

      Those snipers in the submerged section,...those are horrible to fight while playing in classic graphics. They blend too well into the environment, no matter what mission they're featured in.
      As far as the boss battle, it was a bit more tolerable as far as dealing with the RNG with the Honor Guards.

      Good to know you're familiar with Hokiebird! He mentioned me in the comment section of his Outskirts walkthrough, back when I made guides on my old channel. I'm currently using a number of his strategies to improve my approach throughout Halo CE and 2.

    At 12:20 or so, you just kinda sightsee. I go right up to front of the Gondola, and start beam rifling the jackal snipers. Maybe those googles they wear don't resolve at certain ranges, because they just stand there and let the M-C shoot them. This does bring out the grunts early, and makes for some very busy shooting. Because you want to kill the four grunts manning the shade turrets in turn, AND jackals show up in the doorway into the island structure, or you lose your marines. Speaking of marines, I was under the false impression they're as useless as in Halo CE, but they're not. I armed them with beamers and sniper rifles, and they completely took care of the drones as the gondola leaves the terminal while I was obliviously scouting the oncoming gondola.

    • @andrewmadison3123
      @andrewmadison3123 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, replying to myself. I noticed that you didn't get any marines to come with you on the gondola ride to Regret's temple. Not a knock, keeping the marines alive in this mission is really hard. Anyway, I did a crazy thing and just charged the second gondola as it pulls up, around 31:00 on your video. I "merely" shot the sniper jackal on the gondola staging platform on the run, then killed the shield jackal at the entrance on the gondola and kept going. Through some miracle, I managed to survive a platoon of grunts and the (second) shield jackal on the gondola lower level by shooting the battle rifle as fast as possible. The marines didn't keep up, but were still alive. The Phantom shows up and drops the standard full squad. I took cover on the Gondola on the right, and started beam sniping the elites & jackals, battle rifle for the grunts as they come up through the passage to the gondola platform. The marines took cover by the Covenant containers in the gondola platform. Another miracle, and I killed the lot, what helps is the Covenant squad mostly comes one at a time, just scope, quick aim, get two shots off for the elite kills. But I forgot about the *&^% banshees, during the gondola ride, and because I, or one of the marines didn't have the rocket launcher, and neither of them make it to Regret's temple.

      No worries! I think many of us have tried initially shooting Regret down before figuring out how to properly defeat him. Unlike the other two boss fights, this one does seem very unusual, given we have no alternative beyond boarding Regret's chair and punching him multiple times. Wish it was designed to allow more freedom beyond that method without the battle feeling too easy to accomplish.

      You're right on the spot; Halo 3 feels like a breeze compared to 2. The only game that might present as much trouble as Halo 2 might be Halo 5: Guardians, since I lack familiarity with its campaign.

      @andrewmadison3123 Před 3 lety +1

      @@titansbeats3483 I hated Halo 4 so much that I gave up on it mid campaign, mostly because there's a mission that is not completable unless you stockpile the right kind of weapons before getting to a location that won't checkpoint you, nor open the doors until you've eliminated all of the opponents. And this was on heroic. I like to play a game on Heroic, get a feel for it, then campaign again on Legendary. But I never finished the campaign even once because it was too much like work, having to memorize when the dead end is, stockpile fully charged/loaded weapons just before I get there, conserve ammo for specific weapons.
