    It's amazing that they are already ripe. We're in zone 7b but we still have to wait this year with harvesting.

      We have had a very unusual spring. It was very warm in March and everything bloomed about three weeks early. Then we had several late freezes and it destroyed our mulberry trees. Thanks for watching

    Do you have problems with deer? I’m having deer eat the new growth and some of my vegetables already this year

      Yes we do, we have 91 fruit trees and the deer know when the fruit get ripe. They generally don't eat the trees themselves. We have a lot of clover in our orchard and we see them eating it. Our garden is fenced so they don't get in it.

    What kind of peach trees are you growing

      We grow mostly redskin peaches but our nectarines we got from our neighbor and he had crossed an arctic supreme with a June gold and had been growing them for years with great success. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

    What is air layering?

    • @HippieHillHomestead
      @HippieHillHomestead  Před 2 lety

      Air layering is a method of propagating new trees and shrubs from stems still attached to the parent plant. The stem is wrapped with damp moss to encourage roots to form. I just finished up a step by step instructional video on how to do this, I will be posting next week. Thanks for watching.

    What month do,you prune your peach and nectarine trees?

    • @HippieHillHomestead
      @HippieHillHomestead  Před rokem +1

      Hi 70sfred1, We prune ours in February. You can prune them sooner if you want, but I find I have more time to do my pruning in February due to longer daylight hours and better weather. We have 91 fruit trees so it takes me a couple of days to prune all of them.
