What's going on is basic physics. He is ringing the glass's natural harmonic with his voice at a high volume. The same thing is exactly what makes bridges flop around like they're swaying in the wind. It's tricky, however, because you need to be so very much on pitch to it's natural harmonic.
I only use Schott Zwiesel glasses. They are by far superior in quality to others. They are made of titanium crystal, which actually makes them harder to shatter. Though I've shattered 150 by voice alone so far, they are all extremely difficult to break and sometimes take me longer than a minute to break even one glass.
That was the TOUGHEST show I've ever done. They wanted me to break the glass on a table without touching it and I couldn't find the exact frequency. it took me an hour to break one. It really depressed me to only break three glasses for that show. I felt defeated. It just proves how hard these glasses are to break! I filmed a show in the US 5 days later and broke the glass in about 10 seconds;) If you have a clip to where I can see that show, please let me know;)

@hollandrocksls Actually, Jamie from MythBusters was able to do it with an amplifier...How do I know? Because I'm the one who taught him to do it, while they were filming me breaking one without amplification;) You're right, it's not a high note. I can go MUCH higher;)

Technical issue, nothing more, plus that sixty second thing kind of threw me for a loop, ha-ha. It was a great show and I was proud to be on it and since then, I've filmed live in China breaking two in under a minute and the third in a few minutes, as well as filming a spot for Guinness with three wineglasses in five minutes...Schott Zwiesel glasses are TOUGH to break;)
@AlexZamora1234 If you can sing the note, support it, and work the volume freely, it'll break. If you use WIMPY falsetto, good luck, but this is just falsetto with the bellows working.

No disrespect taken;) Never been too worried about proving the validity of my stuff considering some of the pro singers I teach and sing along with during lessons. I sing along with students when I teach;) However, we just finished writing the last song for our debut release. Will be heading into the studio soon, then filming a video as well. Plenty of new stuff with me singing on here before long.
@erchunt any, different frequencies though. the materiel of these ones (some type of crystal) is very receptive to sound so breaks easier. smaller glasses may be easier to break perhaps but the frequency will be higher :P

Does the straw help or is it just for show?
Yes it helps to 'see' when you're close to breaking it, but honestly, I just use it for show because I always close my eyes even with my glasses on.

I imagine you just have to sing the same frequency at the which the glass vibrates. Having a fragile wine glass would probably help too.

The wineglasses I personally use are not thin;) They are Schott Zwiesel titanium crystal glasses; titanium makes them harder than lead crystal;)
