- Tapes courtesy of Mark Arnold. This is part 1 of a 3 part set of consecutive episodes from March 1980 of The Guiding Light. They were transfered from videotapes from Mark Arnold's personal collection that I received from him. Although Mark is not in this episode he's in the upcoming episodes from March 17 and 18. This episode is missing the final few minutes as well.
Thank you so much! What a phenomenal surprise and gift to GL fans. So much of the early '80s is incredibly difficult to find. Happy New Year to you, and to Mark Arnold as well.

As soon as I heard the beginning of the ad I was back in my parents' family room watching TV. "Big Marty really does sell carpets... Cheaper!"
Lisa Brown best role was Nola Reardon. She was the only reason I would watch GL. Her fantasy sequences were a breath of fresh air compared to the normal soap storylines.
Was was /is Married the the actor who played Floyd on the show too m

I prefer Nola much better than Reva. I did like Reva, but the show dominated on her, and nobody else. I stopped watching 5 years before cancellation due to it
Loved her. I can’t find her last Rosemary’s Baby nightmare/fantasy anywhere though. Have you seen it on YT?

@@kellymcquay2626 yes and no. I mainly blame the show itself for dominating on one character (Reva); I stopped watching the last 5 years due to the show focusing on Reva. I do like both the character and Kim Zimmer

So nice to see a Guiding Light episode from 1980. Especially an episode with the GREAT Michael Zaslow as Roger Thorpe. Seeing the Roger Thorpe / Alan Spaulding storyline was always my main reason for tuning in and
watching. Other storyline were good also, but for me, seeing Roger was exciting always of interest to me. Along with the fact that I found him quite sexy. It's AWESOME to see these episodes of the 1980's once again. R.I.P. to the great Michael Zaslow. Never forgotten. ❤️❤️
Thank you very much for these GL episodes to Mark Arnold and you. He is one of my favourite actors in the 80s! He appeared in the Doctors, Guiding Light, Edge of Night, Rituals, Santa Barbara and One life to live. Wonderful actor!

As Sofia Landon Geier had 2 roles on Another World. Jennifer Thatcher in 1983; and subbed in for Anna Stuart a few times in the early 90's as Donna
Diane really was devoted to Alan Spaulding a little too devoted but imagine how she would have been had she not got murdered.
Loved Diane! She got Alan. Big mistake killing her off.

Worked as a writer in AW in the late 80's When Harding Lemay came back in 88. He wrote December 1988 Snowflake ball episode.

As they got rid of the beautiful and talented Elvera Roussel, as CBS said no! She's promoting a movie for us. Give her another 13 weeks...13 weeks went by and got the okay to get rid of and other Bauer's, to make it The Reva Shayne Show

Yes Mark played Buck, Nola’s first boyfriend on the show. He’s in the next two episodes I’ll be putting up here tonight and tomorrow. Looks like PNG just switched him over the edge of night about Five months later

Hmm, being that GL was a Proctor and Gamble soap like TEON, maybe they could have moved Sky, Raven, and a few other Monticello characters to Springfield!😊
@@rockyracoon3233 That would’ve been a great idea but unfortunately Procter & Gamble felt that by moving Sharon and Larkin to two different Procter & Gamble shows they could get more for their money. They didn’t count on the fact that both of them had better chemistry together rather than separated.

The actors' faces all seemed familiar to me but the storyline was not what I remembered and I figured out why. I was sick (like hospitalized) in the Fall of 1979 with pneumonia. So most of the actors in this episode would have been around during that time. The storyline must have changed when I went back to school after the Holidays. I do remember that Roger was a complete snake. The local Philly ads, Big Marty for example really make me homesick for that time.
How young and beautiful Maureen Garrett is. Raven is my second favorite female character on soaps, as Holly is my first favorite female characters on soaps

A guiding light legend…Stefan Schnabel (December 20, 1965 to June 11, 1981). The actor died in 1982
Dr. Steve Jackson also was Ed's former father-in-law and medical mentor. (And later Mike Bauer's father-in-law.)
