Lou is being modest in this video. The Guy is multifaceted and smart. He has a heart the size of Texas. I was so happy to meet up with him again after close to a couple decades. When I did meet up with Lou again, he was doing the independent thing. Now that he is back at a dealership, and I would rather Lou fix the issue, I am confident in the service I will receive because it will be Lou who works on my car. Otherwise, forget it... Lou is very correct in the typical customer experience you typically receive at a dealership. Cold, calculated and you already know your going to be taken for a ride. Same slimy experience purchasing a vehicle transfers to the service dept. at a dealership. Law of attraction is something that can not be beat. You treat people like crap, you will get it in return. You treat people with respect and honesty, you will have customers for life. Lou, I am very fortunate to be able to call you my Friend!

Well said!!!! Side note I don’t think anyone should be a service writer without a least a year’s experience working on cars. I’m a diesel mechanic and everything you said about dealing with ppl is exactly how I feel as well.

    Lou,
You make me want to decommission my Gwagen from where it is in the Dominican Republic, and take it to you for a proper restoration… (if that was up your alley) 😊!
You are a Professional with Integrity-and this world will ALWAYS be a need of people like you. 🙏🏽

So many nuggets in this video. You really over exceeded expectations with this video . Never took into account the cost breakdown of running your own show when you add in being the detailed, service advisor, and etc. Definitely something to think about . Thanks for the detailed video . And yes you said my name right lol.

I completely agree with you, doing it alone and want to help people and not overcharged, You don't make big money being honest

Great advice and mindset. Makes me wish I was in the Midwest so I could bring my car to you!

Good mechanics can ask for a premium price and be honest. Dealerships are no longer doing anything proper they just sell parts and service rather than actually repairing. Specialty shops are needed to bring efficient repairs that save money for customers and realize profits for mechanics

Really enjoyed the talk, yes unfortunately when you go to a car repairer, whether it be specialists or not its never really been a positive experience. In fact its intimidating, you don't feel you can have input. If I could find a Lou where I am that's where I would go. With your approach, a business would get a lot of referrals from your customers, everyone wants to know a good mechanic, especially my wife who dreads going anywhere near such places as she is treated like an idiot, and guess what she tells her friends!

People always think working for yourself will be easier and that's why most fail. Unless you are willing to work 24/7 and minimum of 60 hours a week with no paid Healthcare Insurance, vacation days, paid holidays, sick days retirement etc. Etc u will fail. Owning a business and making it successful takes everything you have physically, mentally and financially and still no guarantee u will succeed. A simple divorce may set you back half a lifetime or cost u your business . God forbid you get injured by your own doing or someone else's negligence and can't work for a few months etc. It takes a completely different train of thought to be in business for yourself and 99% of the population doesn't have it.

Man. I wish I had you down here in Georgia. I sure wish I could go into detail about my escapade into getting a issue fixed with my 2nd gen ram I had. I do 90% of my own work. But on occasion either I don't WANT to do something or I CAN'T do something or I just want advice. I am more than willing to pay diag other fees. The problem I have ran into here in my area of Georgia (West of ATL about 30 min) is I can not find qualified people. I need a real Diagnostic type technician. Not a parts swapper. I spent literally thousands on my Ram only to get screwed by this guy swapping a part but not fixing why it went bad. Put 3 BCM's in it. Sold the truck. I want a great mechanic. One I can build a relationship with. I will pay the money but will not BS me. Too many shops and businesses in ALL industries have the wrong way of thinking. They want the quick buck. Short term thinking. But what makes a company successful is the long term relationship. YOU understand this. This is why you have and will continue to succeed.

Lou, I'm currently in the market for a CLS and stumbled across your "airmatic video" to better understand what I was possibly getting into to. Very informative so thank you. That video then led me to this one and after watching it, I felt compelled to comment (which I never do)... I'm a "car guy" from way back (on this earth for a while), been disappointed countless times by people's bad behaviors, become very aware of my own and appreciate the smallest of gifts everyday. Does that sound about right? lol Seems to me (what do I know) you're in a good place. I look forward to viewing more videos... Have a great day and thanks.

Gratitude and being appreciative helps you live a better more enjoyable existence, I am trying to breed that culture here in my dealer, I am the minority. No one else here seems to think that way, so either I am misguided and weird or I am the diamond in the rough that can change the way we do things for the better. Its a constant struggle. Once I made the turn to helping others, I have been gifted with a more enjoyable life. Thanks for taking the time, I do appreciate you. Be careful with finding a CLS. no one ever takes care of those cars. So make sure you get a pre purchase inspection by a dealer or euro shop,. Tell them "find a reason I should not buy this car"
      Best of luck my friend.
      Lou

Lou, just found your channel and find your enthusiasm and knowledge amazing. Can you help me find the solution to an SRS problem on my 2003 SL500.
SRS light on. MB11 scanner datastream shows faults. Shows window/side sensor fault, buckle issues too. How can I get in touch?
