Thanks for making this! I wasnât sure what i was going to use and having a professional artists input really helped. Thanks!
Tysm, I wanted to find out the best brushes without downloading any custom ones, so this guide is nice to have(especially since itâs a free-to-watch CZcams art tutorial that isnât boring).
This is so great! I'm just getting ready to dive into Procreate. Wading through all of the brushes was somewhat intimidating. This was very helpful.
Love how you can switch styles and make it look so easy.
Every drawing that I make is a completely
different style
This was extremely helpful! I needed someone to just show me the different brushes because there really is a million of them!
Hey guys! Sorry, Thanks to your comments I realized that the Flat Marker doesn't come by default with Procreate, and I actually don't know where did I get it. Sorry, hope you find the other brushes useful
Lucas Peinador I got procreate and I got it and I didnât get any other brushes that was the brush I first used
This is why you should read comments. Ive didnt understand why it wasnt on my Procreate. Its frustrating That you dont know where you got it, cause you seemed so happy with it, haha. Anyway great video
Edit: and i should read better, the link the super cool dude shared works and i now have it. Thanks,
What are the best brushes to paint a portrait and an eye?
MissDeadBones whered you get the flat marker brush
Lucas Peinador Loved your video! Iâm new to procreate but mine did come with the flat marker.
Thanks for the brush suggestions. I was fascinated by how you used of your right thumb to alter brush on the fly. That is a technique that's unique to digital --using two hands to draw is something that I'm going to work on.
Went here eager to to explore new brushes. Ended up trying to recreate your examples :D
"It's delicious to use."

hahahah I'm lacking adjectives
Lucas Peinador we love this adjective
@@LucasPeinador Sorry to reply to one of your comments but I was wondering would the spectra be best for coloring with color on it? If not what would be? Sorry again I am just trying to improve my art so I can hopefully be successful in my future
thank you so much for recommending the spectra brush!! Itâs exactly what I need! I have been struggling with brush for a long time, this video saves me!
I just found your channel through this video, and my god I'm so thankful. I really appreciate all the time and effort gone into your videos. Keep up the good work!!
Thank you for sharing! It's so helpful for someone like me trying to start learning how to illustrate digitally for the first time. Love from Singapore~đ
I like using the dry ink pen in shades of brown for my lineart! I love the soft feel it gives :))
Can you do a tutorial about smudging brushes/which you use/how to create a good smudge brush? Great vid!
Thanks for making this video and oh my gosh its such a relief to finally see someone else using the second GEN iPad!
Hahahaha I can imagine, everyone else probably with the new ones right!?
@@LucasPeinador Yes lol D:
Great recommendations! It's always interesting to see what brushes other people favour. I love the Spectra, Gloaming and Chalk ones too! I also like using the Chalk one to draw thread/embroidery detail or whatever especially if there's a bit of gold thread in there. Thanks for sharing!
CZcams actually been reading my mind. Thanks for the helpful video!!
Glad you found it useful Chilly!
Realy love your post!! Learned so much about the basic brushes and how great the are. The sketching you do are great to. Loosens me up about my own sketching đ©âđš
You are so welcome!
WOAH, You were not kidding about Spectra! I've been using procreate for more than a year now and I never gave that brush a chance, ITS AMAZING! Awesome video!!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thanks man great video I'm going to check these brushes out

I was looking for a video like this! Thanks
Glad I could help!
Thank you for this video, as a beginner in Procreate it is super helpful.
That is awesome, so happy to hear that.
this is really helpful thank you!
gosh i cant be the only one using 1 brush my whole life-
Nah ur not LOL
haha, I kinda stick to that one brush as well :D
Yeah, even when I have bookmark folders for the ones I like with notes for what-goes-where, I still tend to only use Ink Bleed at 75% Opacity
I just love the fuzz
Yeah I mostly use procreate pencil and studio pen
Very helpful thank you so much for sharing this!
Very glad it was helpful! Thanks to you for checking it out :)
Thank you! Very helpful!
Thank you for all the great info! I've been trying to get back into drawing in general, and have been trying to get used to Procreate. It's tempting to get more brushes beyond the default ones, but 1) that's expensive, and 2) I'd rather not worry about license agreements/fees for those. Seeing you put the various default brushes really helps to see what's what! :-)
I got similar problem :)
Just got back to drawing and I started from making animation of Apple logo but I really wanted to do those things what I've done on paper normally. Paying for brushes to someone who just licked a bit of procreate isn't the best thing cause they are pretty expensive for me too.
I use the artistic brushes to just have fun! I'll doodle for a while, maybe draw some abstract shapes or play with color, and then something will come to me and I'll end up drawing something pretty amazing. It can be sloppy and filled with happy accidents, just like traditional media, but that's part of its charm.
do you have an instagram with your art? would love to look at itđ
Thank you soooo much! Great help!
Glad it helped!
So nicely explainedâŠthankfully you made this video..
Glad you liked it
Super useful video, great job!

THANK YOU FOR THIS!
Hey Jumbo, absolutely, thank you for leaving a comment :)
Very informative, thanks.
I love peppermint! one of my first favourites. I must try spectra!
Thank you for this!
My pleasure! Happy to help
If you see this the flat marker isnât a default brush but, the HB pencil at full size works well like the flat marker. Edit: Another good brush is the flat square which is brush that is downloaded at jingsketch
Thanks for sharing Michael, that's right
Please, do you use the default pressure curve ? I love the skull color !!! Maybe you can make a tuto for this ? Please đ€đ
Thanks for content. Bought an iPad just for procreate in 2017. Have never used it ..was too confusing. May try it now, in 2023.
Glad it was helpful!

I can put this brush down. I love it.....the Flat marker brush. Thanks!
Thank you for your tips. I m new to Procreate and is a bit overwhelmed by the brushes available.
Absolutely! I'm glad that it could help, I was a bit overwhelemed by them also, that is why I wanted to make the tutorial :)
EXCELLENT VIDEO. THANK YOU
Iâm a man of the Inka brush myself itâs so fun
haha that's very nice, thank you for sharing
First of all great video, really helped me alot.
Unfortunately i cant seem to find the noise brush in my app. I found all the other ones but this one is just not there. Is it really a default brush?
Huh this actually quite helpful
but the studio pen is still my favourite
THANK YOU, CZcams RECOMMENDATIONS!!
Hey! Glad that it helped :)
Thank you for the wonderful video
Thanks! Very nice video. Learned a lot. Can you recommended a brush to use for coloring?
Thank you love it.
Fuggin brilliant
haha thank you, happy you like it.
YO! I swore by Flat Marker for drawing n sketching! I got the brush by default under inking
Thank you so much x
As weird as it sounds, I actually use Monoline (in calligraphy) for drawing. I came from IbisPaint, so I wanted a thick brush; so I found it. Iâve been using it ever since.
Thank you for sharing đ
very usefule brushed O: thank you!
You're very welcome!
Nice video! Thanks for the review. Wondering what stand youâre using for your iPad?
I use peppermint to sketch; hard airbrush to line and color
That is cool, thank you for sharing
Beautiful video!
Hi Lucas, thanks for this useful review.. Do you recommend to use screen protector?
Brush pen is my fav
thank u so much!
Great video!!!
i watched this video a year ago and itâs still in my mind when i use spectra brush
That is great.
I can't find the Spectra brush now (. Looks like they delete it from the new version of procreate
great help! cheers
Very welcome Karen!
Thank you!
Sure thing!
awesome! subscribed!
Make a video on how to make the flat marker brush if is so good
Hello. How long have you been using this iPad Pro 2017? Does it not have the infamous bright spot 2 inches above the home button?
Thank you very much for this...it saves me much work experimenting.
Regarding âArtisticâ some of these have been just great for what I am doing, so it all depends upon the project.
However I usually copy them & customise them in some way.
Have you any suggestions for a soft pencil that is still very fine & not black? Procreateâs âfine lineâ is pixelated when really fine & doesnât hold the fill in colour.
I agree about texture...personally I avoid it & donât like it.
Better to add later if wanted.
Hey Rose, maybe the Technical Pencil from the Inking category will fit what you are looking for
Lucas Peinador yes I usually do use this!
Maybe I will duplicate it & tweak it a little....
thank you sm for the tips. been frustrated since i only knew how to draw using syrup brush đč
Happy to help!
Thank you for sharing
Sure thing! thank you for watching it :)
can you please do a tutorial on how to blend with the soft airbrush . or the best way to blend . trying to paint and elephant and can't get the blend and shading right
Hey Lobo, yes, I would love to make a tutorial about this, but probably it is going to take me a while. For now, I can recommend you what I use. Almost any random brush with scattering activated. Use the smudge with this brush and you are set
I use dry ink for my line art and the âeffect brushesâ like noise for detail
that is cool, thank you for sharing
its good to know before i buy the iPad .. thank you 10/10 .. i like procreate app ..
Hey! Have you tried the Boxxy Brush in Clip Studio Paint ? Can you or someone please make a video on how to recreate that brush exactly in procreate please? Including it's properties?
Been looking for something like Spectra. Nikko Rull is good too, but wasn't cutting it. Thank you!
Hey Richie! Glad that the video helped, yeah! Spectra is amazing!
For some reason some of that brushes I donât have it. Like the flat marker and some other ones.
Thatâs cool đ
6b is my shit omg. IT'S SO GOOD.
Hello! I'm not even close to get an ipad, do you know to can I setup my smudge tool in photoshop to get similar result than in procreate? It's too rough and I'm not able to get some delicate "blur" and I really don't like the airbrush brushes... ug
