All i have listed can happen in an instant and life is changed forever. What he may have built financially to safeguard his retirement and his family's welfare can change dramatically for the worse. The winners are lawyers every time. Puh-leeeze...how can this man live with himself?! When our mother died, I found out she was behind on her rent, and had some other outstanding bills. My older brother, the "responsible" one, said forget it, she's dead, and the bills died with her. I didn't see it that way. For better or worse (and suffice it to say our mother was more than a handful), she was still our mother. I'm not rich - far from it, but paid all of her outstanding debts, and made repairs in her apt for damage that was incurred while she lived there. There is no way on God's Green Earth I would go after my brother's estate, via my niece, for such a petty amount.
