Tel Aviv based artist, DJ & producer AfterU drops a new single 'Mabrook' on the Abracadabra label, already picking up big plays and support from Solomun and Blond:ish.
AfterU has caused quite the sensation on the club scene, utilising his classical music training and love of electronic dance to create a unique live performance. His hybrid violin sets capture an alluring DJ mix of afro house and melodic techno, additional synths and his violin playing, processed through a multitude of effects, for a captivating and unforgettable live show.
“I started this track in 2015 with just a cool beat, bass line and some harmony, adding some little changes afterwards to make it simpler. I wanted to make something uplifting and groovy with some house elements and a happy feeling, while keeping the authentic vibe and sound and the oriental influences. So, I came up with the hook with the percussion on the drop that reminds me of the sound of “Doyra”. This is a traditional hand drum from Uzbekistan, and as I was born there, I have been influenced a lot by its traditional music. Taking these influences to this world, I tried to give the drop the vibe and rhythms of this music culture”.
“The name “Mabrook” was chosen because the track took such a long time to complete, that the first word that came out of my mouth when it was finally finished was “Mabrook”. The meaning of this Arabic word is "blessed" but it’s also an expression for congratulation, and this is exactly how I felt with the final mix down”.
“I knew from the beginning that this track would fit with Blondish and Abracadabra, and after Viv heard the track being played by some artists, and uploaded on some videos, so she wrote me asking if it’s my track. And as they say, the rest is history! I was sending my energy to Viv all along so she would finally hear this track :)”.
