Exactly ((: I have a leopard gecko named goku and I’ve had him since he was a baby and he usually doesn’t like being held for a long time but for short amounts of time he doesn’t mind and he really likes roaming around on my bed (with supervision obviously)
Yeah, one of my geckos loves to be held, but the other one doesn’t tolerate it. So, I can definitely say that there is a difference in personality.
Mine (his name is jellybean :> ) doesn't seem to mind and sometimes appears to enjoy being out to explore since we bring him outside sometimes (with the proper precautions ofcourse) and he just goes around licking everything and sometimes making himself comfy under something soft, but he will get skittish after long periods of time. Another interesting thing I noticed about my gecko is that he was "potty trained" since we got him and always, always poops in the same spot and never when he's out of his tank (only once, and I believe i took him out just when he was about to go so 🤷)

100%. My gecko sometimes decides, “This things curious, I’m bored so I’m gonna watch flail around in the tongs.” And sometimes she’ll straight up eat the tongs like cmon Toffee. 😂

One of my geckos comes out every time I'm in my room. She will sleep out in the open and get excited when I come in. She's the most social of all my gecks

@@leopardgeckotalk most of mine sleep through the day. One thinks I have food sometime around 3pm always. And my girl Nala is always running out if I'm in the room and looking up at me. She always wants to be around me. It's adorable
Baby leopard geckos can be so cute and so FRUSTRATING by just using objects wrong.
Mealworm bowl = bed
Water bowl = toilet
Cold hide = hide from spooky human
Heating = yes lets sleep in the cold all day and go basking at night.

My gecko would soak his toes in his water dish before a shed so he never had stuck shed. I'm literally astonished he did that.
Mine is sleeping in his calcium dish lol

I loved it when I got my baby leo. It took some time and patience and it even "squeaked" at me. But now, the handling has become easier and it has started to meet me at the front of the enclosure and try to come out.😊❤
Mine still squeaks sometimes bc he learned that I come to his tank when he squeaks, I’m nervous that he’s hurt, so now at 10pm right when I’m falling asleep, he squeaks so I check on him and he’s at his little door, cute but annoying at times :)
This babe seems very friendly. My advice, don’t give up if they aren’t approachable at first. Our Leo didn’t seem to be interested in us and suddenly he couldn’t get enough. He sees us and begs to come out 😊He loves to sit on top of people’s heads, of course we always have more than one person around when he goes up just in case.

I'm getting a leopard gecko, a 5 month old male, I'm so excited! We are just sorting out last touches, setting up our UVB lamp etc. He is THE CALMEST gecko I have EVER held. He literally doesn't care who you are, he loves being handled and I just think its so cute!
I remember when I got my leopard gecko it looked just like it, Leopard geckos are so cool to watch get bigger, Hope you will have fun with this little guy :)

A tip for easy cleaning is to place a small piece of napkin of paper towel where you notice them pooping. This makes it much quicker and easier without having to move everything around to grab the towel underneath. It also means you go through paper towels at a fraction the rate.
Yeah I was going to do that but the gecko seems to like to just go in various places in the hide 🙈 can’t make up it’s mind lol
Aww I have one as well I’ve had her for about a year now I would definitely recommend to get one for a beginner reptile 🦎
Sitting within a little pet fence is helpful cuz they can get off of you and explore and come back to you as they please. Plus if they dart, they cant get away. I've personally waited some months before starting to handle them, but that's just me cuz I didn't want to have to remove hides and stuff to grab at them. I wanted a slower more positive relationship after they get comfy and more curious about me.

First week with my baby gecko! I’m learning a lot. It just started eating last night but only interested in mealworms ! Like you said it is an adjustment for a first reptile owner as an adult 🦎😝

After a year of hesitation and preparation I Finally bought my first reptile a snow baby leopard gecko thank you for all the information you post it really has helped me a lot.
My first Leo Sugarpea hardly sleeps in her hides. She prefers to sleep on the open or on top of the warm hide. My second Tea-ga she's a master if hiding but she's warming up to me slowly. Got her about a month or so ago.

I was no nervous with my first baby I took so many small steps in the handling process it took forever for me to hold him confidently outside the tank. They really do feel so fragile and fast I admire your confidence.

I think I lucked out on my Mack snow leopard gecko named Tai Lung he really likes handling time or I call it walkies since that’s all he does he loves to walk on my hands and climb up my arms. Pretty much since the first day I brought him home he’s been pretty chill but now every time the uvb light goes off he climbs his hide near the door for me to take him out lol. I usually get tired before he does but when I put him back he goes straight to his basking rock and just does this cute stretch and lays out on the rock formation. I like watching how his body seems stiff till he finds a nice warm spot to soak on then he just goes limp and he conforms to the rocks lol It’s like if he was wax and he just melts 😂.

I finally have my first gecko on March at 2 month years old, now she's 4 months with 19 mg weight and 16.5 cm lenght. I'm so excited that she's become healthy and healthy everyday deapite having an Enigma syndrome😭.
First week having baby gecko is a mess. Shrieking, bitting, jumping from your hands, pooped on ur hands, etc. Damn, now she's just chilled when i'm handling her, but still enigma syndrome is a real challenge. I always sure she's not dall from my hands or arms because of the poor motoric ability. And i always need to handfeed her with mealworms, well, mostly, she's become moody if didn't get her prey over and over😂.
I messed up a lot the first two or three months with my leo's but now I think my cares the best I can do and their quite happy and healthy
I think their almost adults but their not quite done growing, and I plan on doing a kinda final upgrade for them in January and give them and possibly give them uvb/uva and stuff like that but right now they just have heat Mats and stuff
