Current go-to’s for live worship settings is Keyscape Wing Upright, NI Giant and, of course, SK2021 Black Hole Upright. I’ll usually layer Giant and BHU in a SK layered patch with a couple of shimmer pads. Keyscape Upright usually runs in standalone mode with a synth pad from my Jupiter Xm (fantastic sounding combo)

If you’re into thick sounding vintage analog pads, strings, plucks and basses, you’d love the Jupiter Xm or X. It’s vintage Roland synth sounds at their best... and I’ve played on originals back in my teens in the 1980’s. You basically get all the Roland synths from the 80’s and early 90’s wrapping up in 1 unit. The front panel layout has a learning curve and not the most user friendly. But the amazing sounds easily outweighs the negatives. It’s also has a built in midi and audio interface for your MacBook, so you can easily layer and mix your software synths with the Xm

Most informative video I've seen on this subject by far. An understanding of the lingo and descriptions of that lingo means being equipped to have intelligent conversation and make intelligent decisions about these sounds. I feel more equipped now. Thanks David and team!

I used auto sampler in Logic to get my Kurzweil piano sound. It’s the triple strike grand from the PC3 and it’s a whole new world better than the MainStage sounds. Is it possible to move that sound over to my iPad and play in Sunday keys?

I have Mainstage with keyscape... but for some reason the sounds isn't as great as i thought. I bought templates and patches from the likes of Abel Mendoza's website etc but for some reason the sound just doesn't sit right in my church. I use a usb to port connection to my montage 8 and using it as a DAW but at this point i'm just using the montage 8(which i am super unfamilar with) as my main sound :/ The piano just feels much better and suits the songs. I really want to use VST because it's easier and I'm just frustrated at being unable to get the sound I want... I'm thinking of buying omnisphere to tweak keyscape even more but thats prob a really bad idea because I'm depending on new plugins to get better sound when there's a chance I'm doing smth wrong... Any tips?

To answer the second part of your question, there are so many to choose from and lots of them sound great! What sort of piano sounds are you after? Grand? Upright? Realistic or processed? The ones that get a lot of attention are keyscape, all the native instruments ones (mainly Alisha's keys, the giant, noire and Una Corda), xln addictive keys etc! To be honest I think the Ableton grand piano can sound nice, particularly if you play with the hardness setting you can mellow it out a bit and it sounds a bit less harsh! Sound magic piano one is a pretty good free plugin if you're short on cash.
