We were "upgraded" to 1 King Garden Room valued $1,300 with a Platinum member. Original value: $1,100. I made a reservation with Marriott 76,800 points.
Hotel Review
In 1603, the Tokugawa Shogunate constructed Nijo-jo Castle in order to safeguard the Imperial Court located in Kyoto. Adjacent to Nijo-jo Castle was the location of the Kyoto home of the Kitake, the executive branch of the Mitsui Family - a home the family maintained for over 250 years.
The connection with the site began in the early 17th century with the decision taken by Takahira Mitsui, the second-generation head of the Kitake, the executive branch of the Mitsui Family, to build a residence next to Nijo-jo Castle. The property remained in the possession of the Kitake, the executive branch of the Mitsui Family until the period just after the Second World War. From the beginning of the 18th century until the early Meiji Period, the Oomotokata - the business steering committee for the Mitsui families - was organized and run from the Kyoto residence.
There are a number of relics that remain to this day, such as the main gate, some landscape features, stone lanterns, etc. The development has breathed new life into the heritage and legacy of the site. The Mitsui Fudosan Group is concentrating all of its efforts to build the ultimate luxury hotel brand in Japan, with HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO serving as the new flagship property.
This storied history and legacy - as well as the new challenge - is represented in the name of HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO.

The former Mitsui residence on this site featured a traditional Japanese garden with a path around a pond. With the advent of the HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, we have recreated this garden in its modern form. The Premier Garden Room offers unparalleled views of the garden. Average over 50m2, the room features include a sofa lounger ideally situated by the window, where guests can take in the beautiful scenery punctuated by the weeping cherry tree, water basin and stone lanterns. The perfect space to encounter Japanese aesthetics and Kyoto’s garden traditions and culture.

와~~ 이번 호텔도 정원이 다했네요~~~ 정말 너무 평화롭고 이쁩니다!! 저기 앉아있으면 잡생각이 다 사라질 것 같네요 ㅎㅎ 정원을 산책하는 것만해도 힐링일듯해용~~😊

소품 하나하나까지도 신경쓴 느낌이나는 정말 고급진 호텔이네요~~ 잠옷까지 있다니 감동~~~ ㅎㅎ 특히나 저의 원픽은 욕조~~~ 저기서 뜨끈히 지지고 싶네용 ㅎㅎㅎ 글구 역시 이 호텔도 가든이 너무너무 이쁩니다!!! 너무 아기자기 아름다운 곳이네요~~ ❤

호텔 정원도 너무 이쁘고 자쿠지 같이 생긴 욕조가 방안에 프라이빗하게 있으니까 현대식 료칸에 온 느낌이에요!!🤩
