This was a good intro to Morissette. She's got tons of performances. Take your pick every single one of them are awesome.
She does it on purpose. That is just one of Queen Morissette's signature. She is truly the Queen of all Queens ❤❤❤ also with her. All her live performances are done just one take.
The reason she can do her signature squeaks so easily is that she has a complete whistle register, but that's only a small fraction of her capabilities. Her one take live covers routinely beat original studio recordings of others, and she slays a whole variety of styles. Many consider her to be the premier female vocalist of this generation, and I haven't heard a better voice in my 76 years. Two songs which highlight her whistle capabilities are Akin Ka Na Lang, and I Wanna Know What Love Is. Both are spectacular.
You can also check her Rock Medley from a Mitsubishi event. She had a blast with one of the songs: Dream On, I suppose.
Mori's belting is one of a kind, never encountered belting that sounds so pleasing to the ears, just adore her voice second to none .......

Her vocal range spans from F2 to G8. Almost the same as Mariah Carey's 5.2 Semitone Octave Note while Morissette on the other hand has 5.4 Semitone Octave Note a bit higher than Mariah's. But both of them were EQUALLY VOCAL BEASTS! 😊

It is a distinct signature of hers as well as her powerful sustained whistle note register with vibrato. At 26 years old, She is a 5ft 1in super powerhouse and her magical rabbit hole is endless. Love your reactions! That "squeal" is what she's known for and it's very intentional. Everyone calls it a "squeak", but technically it's a "vocal break" that singers like Mariah Carey, and recently, Sia would often incorporate. But what's unique about Morissette's is that she flips into her *whistle register* for a split second, then back to her chest voice, with no gaps in the voice compression. The fact that she flips into a whistle register explains the high frequency tone of her "squeak". I know all this because Morissette herself explained how she does it in one of her videos. It's actually very similar to how Mariah (prime Mariah in the 90's, btw) used to do it, since both her and Morissette have ease of access to their whistle registers. Your *"Is this Mariah Carey?"* comment was actually apropos. Her ability to do this "squeak" (along with the other textures and tones she has in her vocal arsenal) is why they call her "Asia's Phoenix".

You will never regret going down the Morissette rabbit hole. She is easily in the Diva class of Whitney Celine Mariah etc. Most everything you hear her do is live and after 5 years I have never heard her make a mistake. She is a Vocal Goddess, Assassin that can sing any genre from very soft songs to hard rock. Mori covered songs on every genre. Just recently she was in a David Foster concert in the Philippines where she sang two Whitney Houston from the movie the Bodyguard, I Have Nothing and I Will Always Love You + Never Enough (Greatest Showman).

I had put off checking her out because I felt as you did. Then it happened. I watched someone react on her and 2 yesars later there hasn't been a day that goes by that I don't watch her. Initially, she's covering this song created by another Filipino Sheryn Regis but the producers decided that she needed to officially record the song ( together with other 5 songs & 5 other artists ) as a theme for a popular tv drama series.
