Ohhh goodness, I've had a couple experiences like that. The first was a younger girl who I met at a convention by chance who acted half her age, and she would follow me around, cling to me, not give me my space, etc. She freely admitted that she loves to get people to buy things for her, and she would keep trying to make bets with me that she knew I couldn't win so that I'd have to get her something. She continually tried to get me to cosplay characters I didn't want to cosplay with her just so we could take shippy pictures together, and it was nightmarish. I finally just had to cut her off our of my life entirely, although once in a while she still tries to call me. =_= UGH.
The second instance was more recently, where I was at another convention as Death the Kid. I was having a symmetry breakdown, and a Koujaku cosplayer stopped and started flattering me to make me stop crying (because Koujaku is a hairdresser and I was sobbing about my assymmetrical hair, it worked out that way). That was all well and good until they decided that we were suddenly best friends, and they physically grabbed me by the arm and dragged me across the con to hang out with their friends. My other good friend grabbed my other arm to try to save me, and I started to get literally pulled in half. I had to struggle to get free of both of them, and then I hid in the girls' bathroom for several minutes for them to go away, just like they do in movies. It was bad. I was super paranoid for the rest of the con trying to avoid them.
So don't let people invade your personal space, people!! It never ends well! If someone gets too clingy, address it sooner rather than later.

It wasn't for their "looks", but I knew someone who would constantly want to be involved in the cosplay circuit and would insist on organizing all the gatherings, meet-ups, etc. They would never, ever have money to pay for anything including room, badges, food, etc. and would constantly guilt trip all of their friends into doing it for them. If not, they would cry or have a 'panic attack' and make a BIG scene. Its sooo disrespectful to use mental illness as an excuse to guilt trip your friends :/

I've never really "hung out" with friends or group of people at conventions, mostly just walking by myself or being with one friend. It pays to be shy and timid ROFL!

I take my broke friend to the last con (Anime Zap), we brought enough money for the con, hotel, and food and a bit more just in case (for me it's 30). So fun when we walked in the dealers room, said it everything was too expensive and did not go back for the rest of the con. If people are too broke for big cons, just go to some medium sized ones they are still fun and less crampt and the people running Zap seriously try to make it affordable without sacrificing quality.

I know that conventions want to be inclusive, but this kind of stuff should be cracked down on by the resistance of people who actually want to go enjoy the convention and respect others and by those organizing the events. I am sorry you had to deal with a situation and that it's a common thing.

Totally reminds me of someone I know. Had to deal with them throughout megacon weekend. Except, she has a job... 2 of them. She still had her supposed friend pay for her part of the house and her ticket saying she had no money. Then she turned around and bought herself a Majora's Mask 3DS and about 10 figures at the con. Needless to say, my friends and I want nothing more to do with her. We just don't know how to tell our other friend that she is using her...

Yeah. She already had a history of that, honestly. Something about not paying the gas money she promised. So when I heard she had gotten my friend to pay for her, I knew she would never pay it back. I even told my friends "Watch! She's going to get stuff at the con and I'm going to call her out on it." I never did because I didn't want to start a fight when we're trying to have fun... but yeah. I pretty much--for lack of a better word--hate her.

I remember someone one year ago whom i bought her ticket (can't believe I did such a stupid thing like that...) for fanime 2014 because she said she was poor (obvious lie) and I wanted her to get in better relations with another friend (because things have been tense betweed them.) However, after seeing that friend (who was pissed off at her as well), she left the con after one hour on the first day, wasting that money and effort I used to convince her to go.... She even tried to make it all dramatic like she was texting me how she was unhappy and shit.... After fanime, I completely shut her off and never spoke to her again.... I swear I'm never doing something that stupid ever again...

Yeah, i got tangled up with one of those :/ she would msg me alllllllllll theee timeeeeee looking for shit from me. she'd play around with my emotions and create drama for me in my life, eventually i caught on and DROPPED THAT BITCH! hahah! it felt so good to move on! :D

A friend of mines sister she used her looks for everything, I was invited to a convention with her, she was nice and all that but when we arrived, she used her looks to get men to buy her things, I look at her and basically shake my head at her, yet at the end of the day I walked away with more things for actually paying for it myself. But seriously what drives someone to do that .

ok so I was at my first convention ever last year and I was really excited, a bunch of friends I had then said they were going to go with me, than dropped out last minute, leaving me to go alone. So I decided I was going to make the most of it, that day I met with a co worker who loved anime too, he was staying the night by sleeping in the lobby and going to other friends rooms to crash in well I commuted from my grandmas house. Anyway He kept asking to borrow money well there, saying he would pay me back, when he never did, and than he ended up ditching me halfway through the con, so here I am all alone, and the topper on the cherry was, I got strep throat the next day, so I only had one day of the con, it wasn't what I expected, hopefully this year will be awesome.

it is a male style yukata. The kimono's have more layers and fabric and stuff. A woman style yukata has an obi with fancy stuff and usually has floral type pattern on it.
