- Hi friends o/ If I sound a little weird in this video it's probably because I was feeling sick while recording it QQ. I often like to be able to test out some of the new QoL features to better understand them before I make these vids... but sorry, I'm gonna be too busy playing Dawntrail like the rest of ya! Because it's a new expansion, this one was definitely a long one o_o Sooo many new QoL.

the raid finder is like it's own special tab of duty finder that just shows the current endgame raids, ex trials, savage, etc
In North American and I think Eu we don’t use raid finder at all and instead use party finder. But in JP they actually use raid finder to queue and randomly match make to clear fights. They societally trust each other not to queue up in raid finder for a fight until you are clear ready apparently? (They do prog in pf though) No way that would work here. People wouldn’t use raid finder honestly and correctly here. I have 0 faith in Na

@@SunnyDove lots of things like that, where they work due to cultural expectations over there vs not being ever a thing in the west
i agree it absolutely wouldn't work, and i personally find that frustrating we can't have that kind of coordination as a community, however to be fair it hasn't ever really been a thing anywhere in western gaming. At least not across the entirety of a games community. For example even in lost ark there was an eastern expectation for using a consumable if you were a certain party member slot to start the fight off easier, and it worked for a little bit at the start of the games launch here.... didn't even take 2 months for that to entirely vanish.
people just don't work together by default like that, this community has a lot more potential of doing that in a lot of ways, and definitely does when it comes to certain things, like treating sprouts a certain way and waiting for cutscenes etc etc... but when it comes to content man we're just a whole different culture by a loooooooooot
Also yeah, the raid finder being updated happens every expansion, they just do that to explain that it is changing instead of just expecting us to see the other content there and being confused when it isn't! :P they do that with a lot of different little systems
I was confused by this too.
I think what it actually means is that it's just the same thing that always happens. Current expansion raids, dungeons, and trials get their own tab, and all older ones get clumped together in the other one.
The icon on the retainer fanta seems to just be that little bell we use to call them.
You're probably right but no matter how hard I look at it I see an onion prince xD
No new glamour plates and no option to permanently toggle quick gathering on is a bit annoying but most of these changes are all actually huge when paired together.
@@ElainaMaruyama don't quote me on this, but I believe they're working on that for 7.2.

Half-width and full-width characters pertains to Japanese input primarily. It has nothing to do with case or anything else typically relevant for English players.
Was going to say this, thank you lol As a player playing from Japan its quite annoying in Japanese keyboard to change between tbh. This is a welcome change lol
26:45 The game used to give you options to set the refresh rate to a fraction of your display refresh rate (1/2, and 1/4). So if you had a 144Hz monitor, you could set the refresh rate to 72 Hz or 36 Hz. This change just lets you set the refresh rate to the standard 60/30fps now which is nice. I wish they had an in-combat/out of combat option though. I like keeping my PC cool and running at 60-90 Hz whilst just crafting/gold-saucer/chilling/etc. But during raids and battle content, I want my FPS to be maxed.
I love the idea of being able to have it set to change depending on what youre doing. For now, I always just have it checked to limit frames when im afk or tabbed out. It helps immensely xD

That's actually a good idea. Is there perhaps a way to macro command that setting? I know that some other system settings can be macro'd

@@Angel___________________ I hear what you're saying but the SE team tends to go slow and test things before going all out. I think they started with perhaps the least used accessory to see how people respond. If they did the test with the wings and the glasses and people hated it, there'd be another revolt haha
@@idno4856 there's absolutely no reason not to do both. Also wings are the most commonly used out of the two.
@@Angel___________________ Yeah, that was exactly my point. Wings are used most which is why they'll test with something different. They almost always err on the side of caution. It's just like fashion accessories originally, or any other new things. They started with one thing, made sure it worked and was stable for a 9-12 months or so, then slowly added other things

honestly the /bgm during cutscenes is one of the most i'm looking forward to, and potion weaving being better because that sucks most of the time

i am SO happy they re-added the mid-cutscene volume commands!!! i was so gutted when it stopped letting me in endwalker, so many awkward music-less cutscenes... T^T

eh im not gonna worry about raiding until the raids are out! Plus, even though im a raider too sometimes, I leave all that optimization stuff to people who like math (which aint me). For now it's all about the journey babyyyy \o/

I think these are all really good changes. Most exciting for the glam stuff, also that facewear doesn't take up inventory or glam dresser space. Otherwise your vid kinda listed off changes in what I would consider the most important.

Raid Finder is its own thing. Changes make sense imo.
Worst part of this expansion will be no vids from you for a while, but hope you enjoy the expansion!

I think being able to leave an unsynced duty while in combat is pretty nice
Regarding full width and half width characters in 4:20 I think it's regarding typing japanese characters. If it were actually capitalization they would most likely word it as such. Hope I'm wrong though.
a few others have commented the same so you are probably all correct. We must continue typing snae ling with absolute perfection.
New dye feauture is cool too, a lot of glam has two dye slots now, and most work pretty well, they vary in scale tho, example: calfskin riders top second dye slot lets you dye the whole shirt underneath. That one cloth top I forgot the name of, lets you change the feather on its belt
Pro-tip for the mouse and keyboard players: play with your CAPSLOCK physical key as HOME, or assign whatever is the game's "Confirm" action to the physical CAPSLOCK key. I played FF14 for years, clicking on NPCs I wanted to talk to with my mouse because I can and it's fine and useful in some cases. However, the problem at hand is when the NPC is crowded by so many players you can't easily click on the NPC as priority; well that's what controller players do by simply positioning right in front of the NPC (what you're likely doing anyways) and they press their "Confirm" button, and the game knows they don't care to interact with the players stacked on top of the NPC, rather the NPC itself. You can do this with mouse and keyboard as well!

The blacklist change not being "applied" prior to 7.0 probably means that in order for the new effects to work on previously blacklisted people (including their entire account), you would need to re-add them.
Though from my understanding, anyone on the current blacklist got moved to the mute list, so I would hope you could just right-click people from there and it moves them from mute to black easily enough if one wants to.
4:24 I think it's for Kanji. I heard there's full width and half width kanji that could mean the same thing.
Yeah, though more common with kana, there's half-width and full-width versions of the characters. Example サンプル vs ｻﾝﾌﾟﾙ
Kanji and kana, yes, but half-width and full-width characters exist in the Unicode subrange for all lettering -- I guess "his whiskers" and "ｈｉｓ ｗｈｉｓｋｅｒｓ" will both be interpreted correctly now!

Regarding blacklist: just a minor issue - copy old entry -> delete old entry -> enter saved old entry information -> new blacklist functions is active. Probably an issue with how to trigger the all characters on account, so they just left it to manual fix.
@@Michael-jx9bh yeah I think the way they phrased it causes some confusion. It seems like they're saying *characters registered before 7.0*, as in registered to the game, but I think they mean registered to the list (ie, what you are suggesting)

Some really cool updates. Not the biggest, but the idk, most useful? IMO is the chat command for volume. The number of times I have gone into gpose, just to be going nuts from the looping music of w/e location, because I forgot to turn it down, can not be counted. Being able to kick people from your home, while not something I think I will use often, is a very nice option. Black list changes are fine and all, but with a limit of only 200 names, its hard to even know who is worth putting on it. I feel like gold sellers and annoying FC shouters in town is a waste, I'll see 200 of them in a week. 🤷♂ WIll see though. at least the few I think are worth blocking are even more blocked.
Finally. I can filter all the literal harlequin clown girlfriend/boyfriend thirst discussions. ;A; Lol!

Case Sensitivity: I'm not sure it means about Snaeling vs snaeling.
I think it's actually exclusive to typing in Japanese where half width characters are a thing. This is Half Width, Ｔｈｉｓ ｉｓ Ｆｕｌｌ Ｗｉｄｔｈ．

@Aitherea yeah I could he wrong but I suspect it really doesn't effect the English typing player base but because it's a change that effects the Japanese one it was already in the notes so they just translated it anyway.
Would be nice if the typing were a bit less sensitive in English tho

I think bgm being able to be turned on during cutscenes is my favorite, for the exact reason you said. I missed the music during the Urianger cutscene in Labyrinthos b/c the bgm loop as I'd been running around had gotten so annoying, I'd muted it. Y.Y
The fact that we didn't get new Glam plates or Armory slots is just ridiculous. Those are things we absolutely NEEDED, not the ability for the freakshow players to add high-heels to their BDSM gear.
The king of all QoL is yet to be implemented after 14 years: Skill Sync instead of Level Sync.
Just make eunasea able to cure stupid, shouldn’t break the game too much
Just letting people on Xbox know right now dawn trail is impossible to play it crashing in loading screens this needs fixed
We got rid of belts and added face wear? The logic... It was taken away because of memory problems so I'm hoping they corrected that problem. It's a good addition don't get me wrong, but I really hope they fixed the memory problem.
My understanding from her vid is that they are separate from inventory items, hence they use a different system and don't affect memory usage, on their end, in the same way. I could be wrong, but that's my understanding of it.

@idno4856 that literally isn't possible, if it EXISTS, then it's in the memory, they shit on players who wanted belts then admitted it was just to be lazy
They're fundamentally different, why are they being compared? Belts had to be bought with tomestones, looted from raids, etc. for stats and had to also be melded, yet none of them ever had a physical appearance. Facewear is purely glamour with no stats attached.
