Perfect understanding of Beethoven’s temperament and of this idiom! Full of beautiful nuance and colour as well.

This is actually a diss at mozart calling him L. Manz since beethoven is W. Manz

Mr Manz plays with magnificent aplomb, a pianist's pianist. Complete and nonpareil in style, essence and musical affect.

You have inspired a pianist in my home to learn this piece. Check her out on my channel (Ernest Nanor) on CZcams, Mr Manz.

I wonder if Chopin was aware of this piece early on, and if it showed him what was possible with a polonaise.

Chopin wouldn’t have liked it. It has a very Austrian/German flavor, no Slavic/Polish touch whatsoever

Beethoven wrote it for the Tsarina (Tsar Alexander I's wife). As with his string quartets dedicated to Count Razumovsky, also Russian, he would have made it as Slavic as possible. (He was a good self-seller as well as a great creative artist.) I'm not sure what's so German-sounding about it.

@@charlescxgo7629 hahaha not necessary Chopin needs to like it but enough to be influenced by it as many other Beethoven ideas
