The thing about John is that he's been beating guys who are much bigger and heavier than he is throughout his career. He is one of the few athletes who have competed around the world and won in multiple different weight classes. The man is humble, classy, competes straight, and never resorts to insults, tactical cheating, or mind games.
Yes, he's lost quite a few matches, but the sheer dominance he's shown for over 40 years is something no one else has been able to replicate. He may not be the most popular, and there are those who are better ambassadors for the sport, but one undeniable fact is that he is universally regarded by the majority of arm wrestlers as the GOAT. Many of today's top guys respect and look up to him in this sport.
Longevity and status define his position as the GOAT in this sport. But yes, Levan of today would beat John.
Even now at his age, John is still a beast and only loses to the top elites. Even so, it's not easy for them to win against John. Pound for pound, prime John was an absolute force. Even Devon who has pulled with today's elites said, and I quote, in a live video on Travis's channel a few months ago:
*"John in his prime was on another level. He would kill a lot of today's top guys. People have no idea how good he really was. Anyone who has actually felt and competed against him in his prime will agree with me."*

Prime John is not even close to Prime Devon. Prime Devon is his superheavyweight version that faced Levan for a 2nd time after he demolished Georgi Tsvetkov, Denis Cyplenkov and Ermes Gasparini.
Prime Cyplenkov vs Prime version of Devon would be a close 50/50 fight right-handed i think.
Left-handed prime cyplenkov would still be too strong.

Prime John is John 2006 where he went up in weight up to around 115 kg and easily beat everyone. John even beat Denis in 2008 zloty tur after Denis trained as hard as he ever did at that point with Voevoda, John was only 95 kg that event. Devon was only 120 kg when he faced Levan the 2nd time, hardly a significant super heavy weight.

Denis was basically pinning everyone by dad moving them, I would give an example, u can go and search Arsen vs Richard Lupkes, where Arsen defeated Richard and we all know how Denis murdered Arsen's arm. So I think there is no way Prime Denis will not be fav. against Prime Devon, he is heavier too, he can defeat Prime Devon, but there will be literal 50/50 with Ermes (Due to being both stylistically diff. pullers) and Levan.
