  • YAY! We finally got the official version of this song which caught me off guard, cause I wasn't expecting to hear it. The song resonates with us in one way or another, and incorporating these visuals makes it even more meaningful to us. These are my theories so far but I'd love to hear what your guys interpretations were to this beautiful music video. It really highlights the poetic and beautiful lyrics by RM aka Kim Namjoon.

    For me this song is about his creativity. The women represent the creativity and his art. He had a hard time with it sometimes, due to the stress and the pressure that came with the success. Now during the break he found it again and can finally open this door again. It's such a great vibe this song. For me it seems like he found his happiness again and I am so happy for him. 💜

    My instant theory is that it’s about expectations from society about what would make you happy, but that they aren’t authentic, and you have to find your own way.

  • @aleksandra3552
    @aleksandra3552 Před měsícem +74

    My take on this video is that he's struggling in life until he starts healing his inner child. That's when he bonds with that different girl and he goes through some similar scenes of his life but now actually enjoys them. In a way, I think that "right plave wrong person" refers to him - you can hit all of the golas in your life, but if you're not healed inside and you silence your inner child, it doesn't feel like those accomplished goals fill you with happiness. Once he started being more introspective and started healing, he started enjoying the life fully. At least, that's my interpretation. ☺

  • @rkivelover
    @rkivelover Před měsícem +48

    I completely agree with your interpretation, to me it definitely feels like the maze of life, feeling stuck in this mould of what you're supposed to do with your life, feeling lost, having regrets and learning to reconcile yourself with those moments. The mingling of past, present and potential future is also super realistic and mirrors the way we think about our lives. I think the fact that it's also a set suggests that he might feel trapped by expectations, particularly as a celebrity, and it's also just a great metaphor for the surreality of life and the disorganised mess that is memory, dreams, the opinions of others and what we think we should want out of life.

  • @lillyess385
    @lillyess385 Před měsícem +65

    The maze theme also fits in with Hope's More video. It's like they have these compartmentalized lives. In Joon's video it's the experiences that should make him happy (ie what's expected of him): the party, the relationship with a sexy firey woman, a wife and kid, being an outgoing baby for his patents.

    He started experimenting properly with more abstract, image-based and simplistic lyrics on Indigo with songs like Closer, and it made me so excited for his future music. I love this lyric style, it really paints a picture of feeling and experience in the mind that seems non-sensical when you try to take it literally, but if you relax and feel the song those words conjure such universal human experiences that everyone understands but finds difficult to put into words.

  • @beanism12

    When I first watched this I was trying to figure out why that one woman was different and why he seemed drawn to her and didn't try to escape the situation like the previous ones. Watching this made me see that she was just as confused as Namjoon like she was also lost and trying to find her way. They were in the same situation, so they bonded (?) and found a way to help each other through the maze. Like you said Joon relived those moments and seemed to have a better outlook on life the second time around. Or maybe after that conversation he found a way to have closure, no longer looking at those situations as 100% negative, but as a part of the journey through the maze. Then he met up with the girl after assumingly, she also got her closure, and they were able to open the door together. Idk the Spring Day lyrics reminded me the promise of being together again one day, (Hope?) and Magic Shop, finding that place in you were you are able to let go. Gah I'm emotional thinking about it now..
    loved the video~

    For me it's about life, in the begining of the mv he goes through different moments of life, wondering and descovering it. That's why we see him express surprise and confusión, life is caos and we can see it in the first half. He's going through life wondering what it is, finding himself and a life that makes him happy. I think that the girl represents that, we can see it's a mirror of him, he looks for her (himself) and when he finds it we see that suddently the mv changes, all the moments are not chahotic, he apreciates life for what it is because he is himself, finaly he is who he wants to be. And so he leaves the "house" to the maze of life becauae life is a maze that we don't know were it ends, but he accepts that and is prepared to face it at the end.

    I think he’s show all the things he’s walked/run away from: having fun with friends, the idea of a family and children, a toxic relationship, toxic fans, the innocents of childhood and eventually hiding out at home with his plants. But once he finds himself/his person, he is able to make peace with it, look back on the good parts and move on, leaving the past behind.

    I definitely agree that RM and the women he leaves with at the end are kindred spirits, both trapped in the maze of unhappy memories and thoughts, trying to find a way out. They find each other and help each other remember the good with the bad so they can both leave the unhappy maze, nolonger trapped. I feel like it has some parallels to Suga's Amygdala, starting on the couch in a depressive state and trying to get through a forbidden door.

    It ended saying" right place wrong person". Theory: different pretty girls telling him he can't smoke, can't drink, can't go out, fighting all the time, just not happy. Feels like she's being his parent and he's being treated like a child caged up(crib) the right girl looks more of a down to earth girl that has been through stuff he's been through, so he can see himself, able to be himself, he's able to go out and have fun, laughs w/her so just happy. So then he can go thru that door. I think the end just shows " life is a maze". You have to find your way thru the maze which is why he was able to go thru the door at the end. He found his way thru the maze. I don't know if that made any sense at all

    I think this is a bit of a call back to Jung. We go through life putting on different personas and playing the roles we're supposed to - which can feel really fake. But it's only by engaging with who we are in those personas that we can find the authentic self "behind the scenes". When he goes through the door at the end, Namjoon can see how all the different parts of himself fit together - he's gained some self knowledge.

      You and I are on the same page! 💜 Perhaps this is a significant introduction to Nam Joon's inner "anima," an aspect of Carl Jung's "Map of the Soul." 👫

    @raysna Před měsícem +3

    In the book Black Matter by Blake Crouch, there's something exactly like the concept of the MV. There is a box full of doors that leads to different realities of the same person. Some of them are good, others are not. But I think he was inspired by the movie Everything everywhere all at once, 'cause he mentioned his thoughts about it in an interview.

  • @MangataNirmala
    @MangataNirmala Před měsícem +6

    I think this is a semi-depressive song and it's about his journey of finding himself with his Anima (yes sorry I'm Jungian - Theory Enthusiast). As we understand in the Map of the Soul theory, each person, no matter what their age, status and position, has an opposite side within them (depicted in different scenes). Then suddenly he realized after carrying a burden or having a problem or just suddenly realizing, that he had to find his lost 'self', which was his own anima (which was described as female because Namjoon was male). The door he wants to open is the door to his subconscious which is much more complicated (if you pay attention at the end, it's like a maze). He will not be able to explore himself, enjoy his own life, if he does not accept or find his anima. Because after the woman (representation of Anima) appeared, the whole series of roles represented by Namjoon became happier and more honest. I see some of you already translated it for his creativity and I think it will make sense too! Love the bts and the armys who are really enthusiastic for doing this masterpiece.

    My theory is that the mv is about online engagement. We know that they were working so hard they barely had time to sleep. However, Some portray him as partying, or having a secret family, some are quick to be angry with him for whatever, some are overprotective and see him as a child and not the adult he is, some are just true fanatics. As he finds his avatar in these scenarios so different from his real life he is confused. But there are times when he finds real conversation with real people. He is looking for that and some people are looking for that from him too. When he finds real connections online it helps him to have fun with the crazy side.

    I'm calling it cinematic poetry. Themes that are very relatable and how two people found each other. The words "I will sleep in her eyes," referring to spring, feels like everything will renew; will be ok. But we also need to experience life to grow. I love the colors, the use of reflections and mirrors and lighting. Did you notice the orange in the crib? Is that representative of Yoongi? There were also oranges in Jimin's Like Crazy MV. Other ARMYs have said similar things, and my interpretation might shift, but at first glance, I think this is a journey towards your authentic self. In the early scenes there’s a sense of isolation in the extreme close ups and expectation/incongruity/conflict with the other people. Then the lady seems to be trying to find him and when they meet, we see him turn into her (authentic self) and have genuine connection. This allows him to then enjoy and engage with people from the previous scenes in a positive/authentic way (finding connection rather than separation). Ultimately, when he sees the woman outside the space and he greets her again, the world is illuminated and together (with his authentic self), they’re able to walk away from or escape the other spaces (artifice) and exist happily.

    The lyrics are so brilliant. Real Genius. Just using divine and pain in the same sentence is Genius. It is extracted from a philosophical theory that Humans lives ocscillate between pain and boredom. According to some philosophers, Happiness means experiencing and surviving pain; after that pain comes relief and "happiness". A definition of "Happiness" is : better state than the one before. "Happiness" is not being in a state of boredom. Most often, people who consider themselves unhappy are just bored and do not experience surviving pain. They do not experience pain > survival > relief > better situation > Happiness. Some philosophers also consider that being happy with someone is being less bored than alone.

    I'm completely in love with his work. 💜
    my Theory: From what I understood or interpreted, this song "come back to me" is not about anyone but just about himself, the mv shows all the difficult moments in which he felt trapped and just wanted to escape, kind of like an infinite looping of unpleasant situations that you just can't cope with or you don't want to be there, that's why he's so tired, he had moments like that in his childhood, with girlfriends, with friends and with his own family when he formed one. And then he reset it, because it was just a momentary moment, there are moments when you feel lost but in the end you are happy to find a point of peace in every moment of your life. He wanted his happiness and comfort back, to do the things he loved without feeling a huge weight on his shoulders.

    My theory is that the MV shows a lot of rumors/expectations about Joon's life in the past years. Shouldn't drink, shouldn't smoke, can't have a family, rumors he has kids, has been treated like a baby, had his heart broken by a gf (interpretations of some Indigo's lyrics).
    The girl looking for him might be army impersonated, he said "you guys thought me and inspired me to love myself", so he sees himself reflected in the girl, in a happier/calmer light. He tries to "get out" of that maze of expectations many time throughout the MV, at the end, he immerses himself in the scenarios, and finally, he is ready to get out.
    *Now we are in a new, mature, darker-skinned era *
    He also said this has a tone of humor, and I think I can see NJ humor peeking out of that scenes hehehe

    I like how this music video has many different interpretations, and everyone can find something they can relate to. I think its what he wanted to show about his life, its probably never just one meaning, it always has multiple meanings and its up to you to find out what it means to you.
    For me, what stood out was how he was connecting to his divine feminine side (and he had to be comfortable with it) to accept himself as a person, not just a man with traditional values, that he can have hard and soft sides to him, the nurturing, sensitive, compassionate, creative, intuitive sides of him can peacefully coexist with his divine masculine side (logic, strength, protection, etc). Once he accepted that, he can be himself without feeling anxious about what's the right way to act in a situation.
    He can 'step outside' of his mind that is filled with doubt, worries, anxieties and just find his way through life by feeling at peace with himself.

    I took this mv in two ways it’s either a self discovery journey for him or his music in the since that he and his music has been boxed in to fit a mold or expectations and at the end he comes to terms that’s it’s okay to veer outside of that mold and be himself and create the music or art he wants that’s outside of that mold or expectations ex- him singing more instead or rapping

    So, my theory is - this song is joonie's thoughts on familial responsibilities... He is enjoying the bachelorhood, but is afraid of the various scenarios of prospective family life where he thinks that he would be the wrong person in a perfectly right situation, or that it won't be that pleasant... But, he is isn't completely satisfied in the current situation either, so he believes that finding the right person would make opening that door and accept those responsibilities easier... See the first room on right has a cribcrib, so a baby room, another bed room, etc.. All adds up...
    Or maybe I can relate to the present timeline of his life where he is thinking of marriage or staying single.. You remember the conversation we had on vlife after the LA-PTD concert

      I actually think it represents Suga. If the song is about his creativity (my personal interpretation), then Suga was with him when he was a "baby" in the business. The parents represent the pressure to create more songs and they are disappointed when he can't give them what they want.

    After listening to you, I feel as thou its a reflection of the world and his choices or lifes choices, we have so many negative and positive things around us and we are caught up in thinking, reacting to those until we choose to walk out and away from those, then you look back over at the overview of all of the individual sets and makes me think in retrospect its only a small sample of the world and the choices and decisions that await us or him.......well thats my take on it anyhow.......

    My interpretation is so different from everyone else’s lol.
    To me, Right Place Wrong Person defines this music video. In the music video, there are all these open doors that he walks past and some he enters. Every time he’s entered a room, we see he’s encountered an unfavorable situation. He constantly passes the one locked door but still finds he can’t open it yet. It wasn’t time yet. Until he meets the right person unexpectedly. He happened to see her and chased her. Now he’s met the right person who can lead him to that closed door and escape from the whole setup.
    In short, I think this is about him being in places where it seemed all happy and perfect. But in reality, he wasn’t happy. Hes experienced so many things and it seems like he’s in the right place, having the best time of his life. In the end, it took him unexpectedly finding the right person to break the bounds of the so called perfect place, the perfect set for his life.
    Honestly don’t know. Spewing nonsense.

    Lee Sung Jin, the MV director, said he and RM shared a lot of stories and came upon a story about a man that was stuck in a house with his PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE.
    Doors have always been very symbolic. The door with the three different colored circles could mean PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE . Triptych architecture in history has also had symbolisms for past, present and future or for harmony like life and death, man and woman, Yin and Yang, the moon and the sun with the middle piece being the connection, our enlightenment, a third eye, a doorway to inner happiness.
    Also the different colors and lighting keep changing and I believe when they finally go through the door the three colors on the door are red, green and blue and I know RM has mentioned RGB before. He's also mentioned multiverses and reading The Midnight Library (many similarities to this MV).
    Right Place, Wrong Person. It's conceptional. The place isn't wrong but he (we) might feel wrong. The conceptual understanding is that we need to find ourselves, our own happiness to feel right wherever we are.

    So, My theory. The rooms represent different scenarios from childhood to adulthood that he or someone may go through. We may look back on them as bad memories, but when we remember that "Spring has always been here" these were actually good times. When we realize that through someone's help (the woman that helps him open the door) or self realization we are free. We free ourselves from being held down by past events. Once we embrace them as our building blocks we are free to live.

    I’d say he/we have choices in life, sadness/happiness in every moment but HE doesn’t fit or choose to be in any one box. True, he has experienced one or more boxes but perhaps some are societal expectations he may or may not choose…it’s all up to him but she may represent army (bc we will be with him in the end…no matter what, right???) ;) borahae!

    I think that the mv was about happiness and how at the beginning rm was not happy in any situation- when he was with his firnds, family or lover even his parents. He was looking for an escape (trying to open the door, might simboliz death) but while running through maze he finds this lady, who is just like him, like he found himself and is happy now so all those previous scenarios are happy scenarios..but at the end the lady calls him and he goes to her. They both take a deep sigh and open the door and leave the set. ( Again symbolising that this time death came to him naturally but this time he was happy and at peace while he dies) This is what i think

    Its his past lives tho…
    Meeting the same woman in different lifetimes and different bodies. Thats why the lyrics said ‘comeback to me like you used to do’
    The last woman is his present situation trying to find each other again and deal with this lifetime.
