故事主人因為開了空頭支票而入獄，
擔心歸來後會再無歸宿，但最後迎來了眾人皆感動的美好結局。
原本的習俗是在樹上綁黃手帕，但這首歌的兩位作者討論後，
覺得黃色手帕好像沒有那麼浪漫，於是稍作修改，
便成了這首琅琅上口的「將黃絲帶繫於老橡樹上」。
據說原唱原本不想錄這首歌，事後卻意外地爆紅XD
