FIFA, also known as FIFA Football and set to be known as EA Sports FC from 2023, is a series of association football video games developed and released annually by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports label. As of 2011, the FIFA franchise has been localised into 18 languages and available in 51 countries. Listed in Guinness World Records as the best-selling sports video game franchise in the world, the FIFA series has sold over 325 million copies as of 2021. On 10 May 2022, it was announced that EA and FIFA's partnership is set to come to an end after 30 years from 12 July 2023 onwards; the series will be retitled EA Sports FC.[ FIFA intends to enter a partnership with a new developer to produce "the real game that has the FIFA name".
Football video games such as Tehkan World Cup, Sensible Soccer, Kick Off and Match Day had been developed since the late 1980s, and were already competitive in the games market when EA Sports announced a football game as the next addition to their EA Sports label. When the series began with FIFA International Soccer on the Sega Mega Drive in late 1993, it was notable for being the first to have an official license from FIFA, the world governing body of football. The main series has been complemented by additional installments based on single major tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA European Football Championship, as well as a series of football management titles. Since the 1990s, the franchise's main competitor has been Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series (now known as eFootball).

Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard was named the new cover star of the Regular Edition, with Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk on the cover of the Champions Edition.Former Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane was later named as the cover star for the Ultimate Edition.
The game features VOLTA Football for the first time, a new mode that provides a variance on the traditional 11v11 gameplay and focuses on small-sided street and futsal games.The mode shares similarities to the former FIFA Street series.
Gameplay changes to FIFA 20 focus primarily on a new feature titled VOLTA Football.The mode, which translates to 'return' in Portuguese, focuses on street football rather than the traditional matches associated with the FIFA series. It includes several options to play in three versus three, four versus four and five versus five matches, as well as with professional futsal rules.The mode will incorporate the same engine, but places emphasis on skill and independent play rather than tactical or team play.
Additionally, players have the option to customise their player by gender, clothing, shoes, hats, accessories and tattoos.Following the completion of the three-part series "The Journey" in FIFA 19, players can now have a similar storyline mode in VOLTA Football, which would be played with the player's own character.Alex Hunter also makes a cameo in the game, along with his agent Beatriz Villanova.
Changes were also made to the traditional 11 versus 11 mode to encourage more one-on-ones and off-the-ball space creation. New penalty and free-kick mechanics were implemented and updates were made to the ball physics.
VOLTA Football includes 17 locations, with each providing a unique experience. As well as a generic warehouse and parking lot, players can also compete in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Lagos, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, New York City, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Rome and Tokyo.
Commentary is once again provided by Martin Tyler and Alan Smith and alternating with Derek Rae and Lee Dixon for all competitions, with Alan McInally providing in-game score updates.

3 years ago we had fan tifos, after 3 year, we pay again for better, improved game but some realistic features has gone. Shame on EA. After the next gen versions, previous gen looks like a demo versions, Fifa 19 and Fifa 20 was amazing and completely great game on PS4, then they revealed really standard and polished things as "realism" at PS5, of course PS4 also can handle them. Since 21, we have worse games than old fifa versions. 21 was a shitty arcade game, 22 has dead PES4 turfs and unsaturated look, also defending was impossible, and Fifa 23, 2d menus, no cutscenes, fan tifos has gone, only 2 new goalkeeper fail animations and power shoot animation added. At least don't remove old stuff, we don't want HYPERCAM or Hypermotion or another "in fact, even the ps4 from ten years ago could easily handle it." things. EA is scamming us into force-purchasing the PS5 version. But a lot of players still playing on old generation. If we pay for this game every year, why buy a worse game than the previous one?
