Jack - your hair is magnificient. I started growing out my hair at the same time and for the same reasons as you. About a month ago I had a barber cut my hair in exactly the same way as Dan cut yours and since then I have had total strangers - nearly all men! - tell me how great my hair is. Result! Never happened when I had a short back and sides.
And Dan - you are definitely the best barber in the world!

I would massage in a few drops of oil to the top of the hairline here, such sensitive skin and you can see the hair is frizzy there by the root

Looks great dude! People say men with long hair is feminine looking but I completely disagree. It takes a lot of confidence to rock long hair in modern society where every other clone has a skin fade. Keep rocking it 👌🏻
Right on Steve. I am totally with you. I used to think that men with long hair was so 60s - outdated, boring, been there done that. As for people who say it is feminine looking, I say get back to your cave neanderthal! I am rocking my long hair and not missing the days when I had to spend ages every morning trying to get my short back and sides to look decent after sleeping on it. A quick brush and I am good to go. And yes, I feel good that I am not part of the skin fade herd
@@alanfleming4823 more like 70’s and 80’s. In the 60’s there was like a Beatles hairstyle.
@@paulo0651 that was early 60s. By 1968 post summer of love, it was hair down to your fretboards. At least in the US and UK. Granted it took the rest of the world a long time to catch up. In 1976 punk exploded and mohicans became the rage - in the 80s it was big but feathered hair

@ Alan Fleming .. same here! Did a great job on this guys haircut. I used to wear my hair same way.. past my shoulders but back then barbers had a hard time trying to cut it without the comfort of their clippers ! My apartment building was next to a tiny old school beauty shop nothing masculine about it. Decor and pink equipment from the 60s typical grandma hairdressers.. of course they would be used to a long head of hair ..old school beauticians.. well I boldly and impulsively walked in one day and asked the two elderly beauticians If they could trim me up which they were more than happy to do for me .. a bit nervous and slightly embarrassed, I sat in the chair where they shampooed me very thoroughly and very carefully trimmed to my liking .. much better than the barber and cheaper !

I think a bit more texture would've helped this haircut. I've grown my hair out for more than a year now and my hair does fall a bit flat like his.
When I had long hair mine was flat but not this bad. How did I cure it? I got a perm or root perm. As bad as it sounds I never regretted it. Be completely sure you tell them you want NO curl whatsoever! Be sure they use HUGE rollers. Some hate to do it because it doesn't really look much different. That solution makes your hair behave much better. Just wash and go. and you have like 3/4 inch off your head instead of less than a quarter inch. You could fluff it up more if you want but it requires no styling or blow drying and should last until you get it cut off. It is a pain but nobody would guess it was permed, and again requires no blow drying, or products ever. It just looks thicker.

Im here for the cutting sound and the technique. I envisioned him with a different haircut leaving only 8 inches in total length just because it looks flat still but of course better than before. But if that's what the client wants then I guess there's nothing much to do about it.

Nice haircut. Looks great. Although, you took off 2 to 2.5 to 3 inches off the longest hairs. I understand why you did it. But, that is a bunch of length to some people.

Is there a reason you didn't pull the hair straight out at the sides to connect the top? You also didn't cut the apex off the top, any reason for that? I was always taught to take small sections, so this was a massive revelation to me and would save so much more time in the shop. I was also taught to section the hair and the back and pull it down in smaller sections to cut the length, which always takes AGES. My trainers would have gone mental if I'd cut the length at the back this way, but it looked just as good Dan's way and took way less time. So refreshing to see a long haircut than a boring clipper fade

At the beginning i kinda wanted to see him wearing the grey victorian suit that Gary Oldman wore in Dracula with the top hat, glasses and hairstyle, i thought that would've been one hell of a cosplay lol. Jack has awesome hair and definitely needed Dan's magic to bring it to this era.
Not enough texture to his hair even after, it still looks long and stringy. Too flat on top, and sticks to his head, but does look better now.
99% of Dan's cuts are brilliant. This one is, well, hate to say, a fail. The guy's face is so round, but has nice hair. He missed the opportunity to strongly shape and texture this guy's hair, which he desperately needs. Some type of long bangs would also have helped to distract from the forehead. This style is totally unflattering on him.

@@Benjorunner Thanks for the clarification but I disagree that he doesn't look good with long hair. As Dan says, all respect due because it takes a helluva lot of time, patience and perserverance to grow your hair to that length. I know because I have done the same as Jack. Whether I look feminine or not or can pull it off or not isn't really important - I feel good about myself. Oh - and I don't have a beard but that's because lots of men, long and short haired, have got one.
A final point - I get a lot of complete strangers giving me compliments about my hair. Nearly all of them are men! Never happened when I had a short back and sides.....
Good cut but think he would look better with shorter hair and more beard. Just my opinion, if he's happy that's all that matters
This guy is nasty! I’ve never seen a barber be able to know what his client wants and execute it perfectly. There are many of us out there who have complicated hair and we can’t just get a straight up fade.
