    Im starting in september and i got my gown the other week. I only got it because it was about £45 from vintid including postage and everything rather then £160-£170 new, also, im the sort of weirdo who will probably wear the gown regularly 🤣🤣

    I really want to go there but apparently the accommodation is pretty expensive so I don't know if I would be able to afford it :(

    Love your videos! I'm starting st Andrews in September. As a video suggestion the pros and cons of sharing accommodation in first year, did you share and if you did do you regret it? I'm picking my accommodation options soon so this would be super helpful. Thank you! Love from Ireland Xx

    Hey! I’m a British student hoping to go to St Andrews in September. Just a quick question, are there loads of Americans at the uni? Not that it’s a bad thing at all, I’d be very excited to meet people from across the world! Thank you, and I absolutely love your vlogs :)

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety +1

      There are quite a few Americans at St. Andrews!! I think the school as a whole is something like 45% international so there’s people from all across the globe! Also thank you sm xx

    Hello Miranda! Thank you for your videos -- they help a lot as I'm planning to enter St.Andrews next year. Can you please tell more about student ambassadors? How many of them are there? What are their usual duties? How students treat them? Is it very complicated to become one?

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety +1

      Aw yay I'm so glad!! Student Ambassadors mainly give tours of the school or act as guides around town on visiting days for prospective students (which is normally every Weds of a term I think). To become one, you can attend an info session at the beginning of the year and submit an application! I'm not sure how many of them there are total, but there are definitely a decent amount, and I think the process to become one is pretty simple! I don't think students treat them any differently either xx

    If you study abroad for a year at St. Andrews as a 3rd year can you still be a part of an academic family?

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes definetly! From my experience study abroad kids generally get adopted alongside freshers, but I’m sure you could adopt as well!

    How does the accommodation work?like can you pick specific Halls or is it random?

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety

      as far as I remember you choose what type of accommodation you want (shared or single, catered or self catered) and the uni assigns you from there! Will have a whole vid on it up in a few days xx

    hey! just wondering, do postgrads usually take part in these traditions?

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety +2

      It depends, but I would say a good amount of them do! There aren’t strict rules about who can participate so it’s up to you xx

  • @Ellienort
    @Ellienort Před 4 lety

    Hey, was just wondering if everyone takes part in all of the events (balls, raisin weekend etc.) or do people generally only do a few? Also what happens if you don’t have an academic family? Thanks :)

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey! The amount of events you do is completely up to you! Most people do raisin but some people don't and that's also fine! In terms of balls, they can get very expensive, so I generally go to around 1 or 2 a semester to keep it financially feasible. If you don't have an academic family, they have matching events in the weeks leading up to raisin, or you can always join a friends-- the majority of parents always want more children!! xx

    Do you know if postgrads have academic dress? I have an offer for September which I'm indecisive about accepting. Also, church recommendations appreciated! :D

    • @MirandaWilson
      @MirandaWilson  Před 4 lety +1

      Post grads have an option of a black gown with burgundy trim I think!! There are a good amount of church options in St. Andrews- I work for the episcopal church St Andrews, St Andrews but even if I didn’t I would still go there! It’s most similar to my church at home and the community is really welcoming and lovely! There’s also a more modern service called Cornerstone that a lot of students go to and like, as well as a Catholic Church near the scores and a few other ones! xx
