My 70s Caddy would be an early model Seville with a high performance Chevy crate motor and bulletproof 4 speed tranny and a limited slip rear end. I would also tighten up the suspension and beef up the brakes, but leave the rest of the car stock.
The 1974 Talisman was the only year they had a console in rear. I had a '76 Talisman. Regret selling it. 36k miles. Original. Beyond a bicentennial eldo this is the most collectable
The 74 is the way to go if you’re wanting the Tali. The rear console was deleted for 75/76 and it’s just not the same. The Tali concept was Supreme comfort for four. This unit has been around the block and will likely not see a real restoration. I sure wish I could swing it bc I love that 74!
That "stuff" coming down from the vinyl roof is rust remnants. There's going to be huge rust under that top. I had a vehicle once that had that problem and when I had the car restored I did away with the vinyl top and just had the roof and all repainted and then clearcoat. 72 Pontiac Grand Prix is what I restored.
I like those fibre optics remote light indicators. I always thought it was a good idea so it makes it easier to see which lights are not working. But I guess the idea did not catch on.
Chevrolet had them starting in 1969 (for sure, maybe 1968) Buick also offered them starting in 1971. Pontiac and Oldsmobile never offered them. I had a few Chevrolets with them. They were neat.
Nothing compares to a talisman. I have to say those little things like automatic lights/sentinel are luxuries that spoil you. I had that option in a Cadillac and two Toronado’s. Silly little things that pamper.
Question: Why isn't there anything in the monogram plate in the console? Did you have to order the plate seperately with your name on it? LOVE this video and thank you!
I never saw a Talisman with a white top. Could it have been replaced? My Father had one in 1974, and I thought that they only came in Dk. blue, and metallic coral, with matching tops.
Bohemia Lite Wow lol. In the year that Cadillac was new gas prices were .48 a gallon. And if you own something like this you’re not using it as a daily driver. If you take it out once in a while no big deal throw $75 in it and cruise.

Probably a fair amount. But considering the car is somewhere that there is snow and more than likely salt on the roads in winter there I'm willing to place a wager there's rust on the trunk pan so amount of bodies can only be counted until they fall thru LOL
The car is tired, but a good start for a restoration.
Cadillac 74... more than ever america's number one luxury car!
A 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham 4 Door Sedan would be my all time favorite Cadillac of the '70s

Beautiful Cadillac
I've never seen the talisman edition before! Very nice
I've not seen one as well

Super comfortable! Very expensive car for it's time! Estimated price in 1974 was $16000!
the interior on these is just so sweet
Even technology for that car in those days was still kept simple and humble
It's not a car, it's a home.
Great video, and really beautiful Cadillac!

My Grandmother test drove one but didn't like the consoles so she went with the Brougham de Elegance.
Wow❤
More than ever america's numver one luxury car!
Did know of this model/ Helluva cool console. Thx, D!
All of the Talisman specific parts are with the car which is huge. There is also a dent in the front door which is huge

Cadillac used the fiber optic system through 1999. Buick Park Avenues in the 1980s had it as well.
Chevrolet had them starting in 1969 (for sure, maybe 1968) Buick also offered them starting in 1971. Pontiac and Oldsmobile never offered them. I had a few Chevrolets with them. They were neat.
the 75 and 76 talisman didnt have that rear seat console you can fit more people in the car
Sounds great
In that time we still had pen pushers so you had that little Gadget in the back seat or front seat for your arm rest is to write notes no texting then

I believe it is a Fleetwood Sixty Special Talisman (not Fleetwood Brougham Talisman).
I was wondering if the high beam detector is still working?
That vynal roof was a manufacturer defect .
I want one

The dealer may have ordered this for the showroom and never had it inscribed once sold.

You could special order anything you want back then.
very nice. must be fun on the gas bill to drive though :p
randomrazr there's no reason to worry about the gas bill because you don't have one so don't worry

Largest car ever made!
Nope, mid-seventies Lincoln Town cars were larger

@@1983jblack righto but no one remembered them because they were junk and therefore since they knew the Caddy and Lincoln thats why they said that. 😉

Would you sell this car? How much for it?
Does Cadillac make talisman anymore?
No. Cadillac is no longer in the market for full size luxury cars. The Talisman was bigger than a modern Chevy Suburban.
What is the difference between bromm and tailsman
$1,800 additional cost for the velour interior, $2,400 additional for very rare leather! ....or you could have bought a new Pinto instead!!
@@steelman86 only in 1974 could you order the leather version, and they had three velour colors… blue, black and burnt orange.
Very sad to see a Talisman in this poor condition

hi is that talisman for sale?
Stick with Arizona or New Mexico model. This one's full salt
Do you know anyone selling one like this their?
