If you are a Hoophead whether you run this or not, this was a great presentation with great questions. Thoroughly enjoyed the talk...

We have used this offense with 5 guard-types. We just played it with more pace and the low-blocker opened up to the short corner after setting his screen. It was/is very effective for us.

It is definitely a great offense that is tough for defenses with the use of screens. I like the wrinkle by having the low player hit the short corner. Thanks for sharing.

Coach thank you for sharing your knowledge in blocker mover offense. I would like to ask if I need also to study the motion offense before I teach the blocker mover offense to my players. As of now I'm reading the blocker mover motion offense by Kevin Sivils.

Good question. I think the answer really depends on the age/skill level you are working with and their experience playing basketball. Players need to learn important skills, such as using and setting screens and decision-making in order to run this offense effectively. Using and reading a flare screen is challenging for youth player who may not even be able to shoot with great technique or dribble with both hands. I would start very basic with inexperienced players and start to incorporate these aspects at the high school level and beyond. Focus on fundamentals at lower levels.

What if the Low Blocker re-screened the mover when the ball is passed to the high flare. Ends up being like a flex screen with the passer being the high flare mover who received the ball.

Love it coach! It could open up the cut back to the strong side or cause a switch and potential mismatch. Many wrinkles you can use off the base action.

This is great stuff. Any clinic notes from Coach Soderberg available anywhere? Wondering on his strategies to get the team back into their flow after a break in pattern, like a drive that was stopped?

Great question coach. Coach Soderberg leaves his contact information at the end of the video so you can reach out to him directly. Many coaches have done so and he is great about replying to them. To give you my perspective, I think it depends on the timing. Early in shot clock they may reset if there are no options out of stopped drive. However, many times that stopped drive may open additional opportunities like a kick out into a long closeout so they would play out of it and make decisions based on the reads. For example catch and shoot or extra pass for a 3. They also may get into ball screens action he discusses in the video. Hope this helps.
